VAMPYRE KISSES

Summary:

Vampyre Kisses is an enthralling story about a young woman named Faith, who seems content with her life, but deep down craves more excitement. Then a mysterious man named Trent enters her world and everything changes. Surprising to Faith, Trent is a green-eyed vampire from Ireland. She is even more amazed to find out that she is a witch, and the last of her kind.

Faith learns that she is destined to restore her witch line and becomes more powerful as she gains confidence and knowledge, but danger lurks everywhere -- especially when unknown assailants steal the most important gems from the vampire master and werewolf royalty.

Now surrounded by a world filled with mystifying vampires and werewolves, can Faith gain enough power to help her friends and rescue the stolen gems?

My take:

This story has it all. There's vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters, witches, and even slayers. Mix in a Greek goddess. Since the protagonist, Faith, is twenty-three, this is not a YA novel. She's out of high school and lives in a small apartment. The book starts off with her daily schedule, something very typical of someone in their twenties.

The premise is intriguing and did catch my attention. I love a good paranormal and admit being a fan of vampire stories. Faith is attracted to Trent and later finds out she's a witch with a destiny. At first she doesn't know Trent is a vampire and when another one tries to mark her as her own, it's the vampyre kiss she received that protects her. Trent is intrigued by Faith and doesn't listen to his own mentor's suggestion to leave her alone. His refusal to not see her adds tension to this tale.

The action between the vampires and those against them is fast-paced. There's lots of action throughout this story. Also some hot, sizzling scenes like the one where Faith and Trent get intimate. Plus the fight scene between Faith's mother and Kali is very intense and graphic.

I loved Morgan. She's one hot, caring stepmother. She also kicked some mega butt!

I did want to see more emotion though between Trent and Faith at the beginning of the story. Also I felt the story was a little rushed in places.

Another thing I had problems with was the alternative point of view at the very beginning of story. Plus the prologue was a little confusing. It wasn't until later in the story did I understand who and why Circe was important to this story.

There's a hint at more books. I'm thinking the author will address more of the war between the slayers(who are nothing like Buffy!) and the vampires/other paranormals. Also I think the relationship will grow and Faith's witch abilities will help Trent out. I'm hoping some more conflict will be thrown in the way of Trent and Faith's relationship. And please more Morgan!

I received this book from Dark Faerie Tales blog tour.
