Printer Woes
Last week I finished up Quantum Flux and began the tedious editing process. I went through my two spelling and grammar washes, noted, once again, that no grammar checker appears to "get" imperatives and, knowing this story needed extensive work in the final big scene, a lot of re-writing.
This was going to require numerous post-it notes of multiple colors and I had to print the project out.
It printed one page ans quit. What? I check and find out the yellow cartridge was out so it would not print in black and white. The manufacturer's rationale for this bit of stupidity and greed is "print heads". So now that the other two color cartridges are low, it still won't print in black and white. At this point I am livid. So I do what any frustrated writer in America would do, I went on eBay looking for laser printers. Not only did I find one, since I am an apples to apples comparison shopper I looked at the price of toner cartridges and found the laser printer will print four times as many pages on one toner cartridge as the ink jet will.
I will keep the inkjet printer but only for scanning artwork and printing photos, but even that is nearly a weird thing to do anymore, what, with digital frames.
The biggest irksome thing about the whole process is that the printer will not be here until next Monday. But I have plenty of other books to work on until then.
Wish me luck. Printers hate me.
