Welcome to the Jungle!

Welcome to all the new people who are following my blog. Thank you so much! Yes, I’ve been blogging since 2004 so this year, in addition to being my 10 year anniversary of being a published author is also my 10 year anniversary of being a blogger.Yay!

For those of you who have found me here I’d love to here what book or what site brought you? This is a great way to open dialogue and I’m always curious as to what brings a reader into my dungeon. [image error]

To those of you who are already in the “dungeon” I’d love to hear what you’d like to see more of on here. Thanks so much!

Dancing With Myself…

I just managed to fall out of my computer chair. See, it happened like this… I was writing a scene and I HAVE to listen to music while I write. I also HAVE to dance along. Dancing in a seat with wheels is hazardous to your health. My butt needs kissed now.

Is Somebody Watching Me?

I’m an 80′s music lover so do not doubt for a moment that as I type this, I’m singing the song. Just the other day on Facebook we were talking about author buddies and being able to call them for the most bizarre questions and none of them judge or assume the worst. They think–its for a book.

Example: I was called by two author friends at different times and asked what temperature does a body burn down to “ashes”? I answered straight away.

How did I know this? I research a lot for my books, as they do for theirs so we all become fountains of different knowledge. Yes, the internet is there for fast searches but you can’t always trust what you find there. So, I’m sure that somewhere there is probably an unmarked black van with a team of men stuck watching over me. I’m sure they get a good laugh every now and then. To the men in the van I say, call me, I have questions for my Immortal Ops Series. You’d be awesome to interview!

Tiny Taste: Tactical Magik (Immortal Ops)

I know many of you have been waiting for a tiny teaser taste from Tactical Magik (Immortal Ops). I’m going to give you one. Keep in mind, this book has NOT been through its editing stages yet. So you’re getting a clipped bit from the unedited version.

“I said I was sorry,” Geoffroi “Roi” Majors stated as he glanced back at Eadan from the front passenger seat of the Hum-V. The vehicle that currently held five not so small guys was hardly inconspicuous. It was also less than comfortable. They stuck out like sore thumbs and Eadan Daly had to question the wisdom of this being their getaway vehicle. This one wasn’t reinforced to help stop bullets. It seemed a lot like tissue paper at the moment. Pretty much all it had going for it was cool factor. One that screamed, government or paramilitary group. A blinking sign on the top would only make it worse.

Shoot here. There is a better than average chance you’ll hit your target.

With the entrance Lukian had been forced to make to get to them, they might as well have sent out engraved invitations to the enemy to come shoot at them there. Would have proved as effective.

“This thing go any faster?” Wilson asked, fidgeting in his seat.

Lukian didn’t comment. He merely glanced at the rearview mirror. His glare was enough of a response.

Eadan’s ears were still ringing from the hail of gunfire around them. Had he not assisted with his magik they’d be picking lead out of his ass.

Out of all their asses.

Character: Gwen Stevens

I’m often asked how I “see” a character while writing them. I thought it would be fun if I started to share photos (that I have either bought from stock site or have permission to use) of how I sort of see my characters in my head.

I’ll start with Gwen Stevens from the Daughter of Darkness books. I talk about her having long jet-black hair that is straight, full lips, green eyes, pale skin. To me you can’t exactly place her ethnicity because of the Fae in her. After much time on stock sites I found this picture that is close to how I see Gwen.

Tell me, how do you see Gwen?

Mandy M. Roth Fans: What to expect in 2014

BIG NEWS FOR 2014

So, 2014 marks the ten-year anniversary of me being a published author. I couldn’t be happier. To celebrate I’ve got some great things planned. Some surprises that I hope you all love. I can’t let the cat out of the bag just yet but trust me, I think you’ll enjoy them greatly!

SAD NEWS FOR 2014:

You know I’ve always been honest with you. Some series I write suffered low sales in 2013. Because of that the next books in the series are delayed. This does NOT mean I have abandoned these worlds. It simply means that I have to delay releases for the time being due to low sales. Some may come out in 2014 if I’m able to work them in but at this point they are delayed. These series include:

Mandy M. Roth

Wicked Lucidity by Mandy M. Roth

League of the Unnatural by Mandy M. Roth

Gypsy Nights by Mandy M. Roth

Reagan Hawk pen name

Cyber Sex by my pen name Reagan Hawk

Rory Michaels pen name

Hazard County by my pen name Rory Michaels

Kennedy Kovit pen name

Blazing Hearts by my pen name Kennedy Kovit

Crazy for You by my pen name Kennedy Kovit

I desperately want these series to do better. I love working in these worlds. If a series you love is on this list and you’d like to see the next book please be sure to let me know. Also, please help spread the word about existing books in the series. If you get a chance to leave a review (good or bad) on a vendor site I’d appreciate it as reviews do help to sell books.

THANK YOU!

Mandy M. Roth

Eadan Daly has thrown himself into the role as the sixth I-Ops team member and has forged a brotherhood of sorts with the other men. When he’s asked to go on a solo mission for the PSI Branch (Paranormal Security and Intelligence) he’s not so sure he wants his old job back.

Inara Nash is a survivor, doing what she must to get by. On the run for years, from an organization she doesn’t fully understand, she tries to stay below the radar. When a blond hunk arrives and claims he’s her savoir, she suspects her luck might have finally run out. Sure, he’s hot and looks like he’d be good in bed but there is something almost magical about him that defies reality. And if there is one thing she’s learned in her life in the paranormal underground it’s you never trust a magik.

The gift of giving

There is one person in my neighborhood who walks their small dog and permits it to crap wherever it wants. They do not clean it up. It is left where it was “dropped”. Since I’m embracing a nicer Southern way, I’m thinking I’ll be a sweetheart and return it to them since its clear they forgot it. Honest mistake. I’m all about the nice. I could really get used to all this nice.

Where the hell are my new books?

Why the release delays? Great question, my release schedule was thrown out of joint in May when Mr Mandy started looking for a job out of state because he’d gotten a shoulder tap and a pink slip from his job of nearly 15 years.

We knew we’d have the sell the house we were in so we had to stop everything we were doing and get it sell ready. Then before we knew it we were moving a family of five nearly 800 miles (Aug). We ended up in a condo that we THOUGHT (because that was what had been eluded) that a mom and two kids would be above us. Nope. Four college girls with 3 or more (depending if they’re dog sitting) dogs. NO WORK could be done while there. I lost so much writing time and money. Its not even funny. I’m still bleeding money over that place.

We moved again into a new build in Oct so in 8 weeks we moved twice. Now we’re settled in and I’m trying very hard to get all my writing in and done. I’m running 7 mos behind schedule but I’m working like a dog to catch up in less than 2-3. I promise. [image error]

Thanks for understanding!

2013: The Good, The Not So Good

2013: I’m thankful for my family, of course. I think that will be a given for most of us. I’m thankful for my friends as well. And my readers.

I’m thankful that Mr Mandy was able to find a job that he likes. Its unfortunate that there has been so much travel attached to it but in a lot of ways it helped to make my boys understand how to help more around here. (Now, ask if me they’re any good at it. LOL)

I wasn’t upset when I found out we had to move out of the state I’d lived in all my life. From a young age I’d assumed I’d leave there and travel a lot. While we did manage to travel, we’d never taken the leap to move from the area. A job loss forced our hand. Mississippi was hardly tops on my list (no offense to anyone here). Turns out, Oxford has a ton to offer my family. Its changed my view on MS. Will this be our forever home? I don’t know. Maybe. Maybe not.

I’m no longer afraid of change. I feel like if we needed to we could pick up and be anywhere… in the US or outside it. I’ve come to realize home is really what you make of it. And I do love living by the statement that “life is short, make it what you want it to be”.

2013 helped me to realize you can’t make everyone happy. Stop trying. If you live to people please than you’re forgetting to please yourself.

Its taught me that true friends are forever. That family doesn’t need be within a block radius to still be family. That my kids can actually adapt to change. That being a bit more of a free spirit is kind of fun. And that change is sometimes good.

I’m thankful for my readers. They kicked me in backside in 2013. They looked at me and said “in both sales, reviews and emails” you are worth it, keep writing. Don’t let this industry beat you down. And you know what… I listened. I’m damn happy I did.

So while 2013 was a year of change for me it was also a year of expanding my horizons. Of seeing the value of myself. Of letting go of negative emotions and scaling back/cutting out totally people that drag me down emotionally. It was a year of learning and I’m thankful for that.

As for 2014, I can only hope to continue to adapt to the change, to continue to be open to more change and to continue to listen to my readers as they give me a swift kick in the arse.

I’m curious, what are some of your highs and lows in 2013? What do you hope 2014 brings?
