How do I decide what book will release next?

I really wish I had a clone. That way I could get all the books written that I get requests for. As it stands, the technology isn’t perfected. Thank you all so much for all the requests for books. Know that I do listen and I do take it to heart. There are some series that I want nothing more than to get to play in the worlds on but sadly, they do not sell through (that don’t make back what was invested in them).

I’m seeing a surge in sales in a lot of older works that I believe is attributed to the giant boost and success I’ve had on Amazon and BN the last few months.

More readers have found older works which is GREAT.

My schedule for 2014 is jammed packed. 2015 is already half filled as well. Those who work with me behind the scenes to make my books publishable can tell you… I’m one busy gal. Note: I love being busy. My daily word count goal to stay on track with this schedule is over 5k a day. Other authors can tell you, this is a lot. With no weekends or sick days.

Q: How do I decide what book will release next?

A: There are a variable of factors.

Is this a book or a series that is getting nothing but hammered in reviews and is suffering low sales and / or high piracy? If so, it moves down the release date list.

Is this a book from a series that is rockin’ the reviews and sales charts? If so, it moves higher and higher on the list.

I think everyone can agree that makes sense.

Is the book contracted or does it have a special agreement with a third party for publishing? If so, then there is NO wiggle room for me on those books. They must come out when they are to come out no matter how much another title may be calling my name to work on it.

Thank you everyone for understanding and for being so supportive of what I do and how I do it. Please know that I am working very hard behind the scenes to bring you all the books you want.

Eadan Daly has thrown himself into the role as the sixth I-Ops team member and has forged a brotherhood of sorts with the other men. When he’s asked to go on a solo mission for the PSI Branch (Paranormal Security and Intelligence) he’s not so sure he wants his old job back.

Inara Nash is a survivor, doing what she must to get by. On the run for years, from an organization she doesn’t fully understand, she tries to stay below the radar. When a blond hunk arrives and claims he’s her savoir, she suspects her luck might have finally run out. Sure, he’s hot and looks like he’d be good in bed but there is something almost magical about him that defies reality. And if there is one thing she’s learned in her life in the paranormal underground it’s you never trust a magik.

FAQ: Immortal Ops

Q: Why is Immortal Ops book one only a long novella?

A: Because I’d ONLY ever written first person POV prior to trying it. My editor at the time, Andrea, asked me if I’d ever considered trying my hand at writing third person. I nearly refused. Then I agreed to give it a try but said, “it won’t be 100k like the Daughter of Darkness and Valkyrie… my brain hurts when I write in third”.

She talked me into it and the rest is history.

Q: Does my brain still hurt when I write in third?

A: No, but I will admit I write much slowly in third.

Why Can’t We Be Friends?

It always baffles me when someone can’t just be happy for someone else, their success, whatever might be happening in their life. Some people look for ways to try to drag others down just for the sake of making themselves feel better. As a way to validate poor choices they’ve made or dreams they haven’t fulfilled. To those people I say “F off and grow up”. The mark of good people is being able to say and mean from the bottom of your heart “congrats”… without strings without malice, without a*sholeness. So to those of you who read my rants and have something right now that you’re proud of in your life, an accomplishment, a victory, no matter the size I say to you CONGRATS and I damn well mean it! And you better believe I’d love it if you shared it here with me!

Welcome to the Jungle!

Welcome to all the new people who are following my blog. Thank you so much! Yes, I’ve been blogging since 2004 so this year, in addition to being my 10 year anniversary of being a published author is also my 10 year anniversary of being a blogger.Yay!

For those of you who have found me here I’d love to here what book or what site brought you? This is a great way to open dialogue and I’m always curious as to what brings a reader into my dungeon. [image error]

To those of you who are already in the “dungeon” I’d love to hear what you’d like to see more of on here. Thanks so much!

Dancing With Myself…

I just managed to fall out of my computer chair. See, it happened like this… I was writing a scene and I HAVE to listen to music while I write. I also HAVE to dance along. Dancing in a seat with wheels is hazardous to your health. My butt needs kissed now.

Is Somebody Watching Me?

I’m an 80′s music lover so do not doubt for a moment that as I type this, I’m singing the song. Just the other day on Facebook we were talking about author buddies and being able to call them for the most bizarre questions and none of them judge or assume the worst. They think–its for a book.

Example: I was called by two author friends at different times and asked what temperature does a body burn down to “ashes”? I answered straight away.

How did I know this? I research a lot for my books, as they do for theirs so we all become fountains of different knowledge. Yes, the internet is there for fast searches but you can’t always trust what you find there. So, I’m sure that somewhere there is probably an unmarked black van with a team of men stuck watching over me. I’m sure they get a good laugh every now and then. To the men in the van I say, call me, I have questions for my Immortal Ops Series. You’d be awesome to interview!

Tiny Taste: Tactical Magik (Immortal Ops)

I know many of you have been waiting for a tiny teaser taste from Tactical Magik (Immortal Ops). I’m going to give you one. Keep in mind, this book has NOT been through its editing stages yet. So you’re getting a clipped bit from the unedited version.

“I said I was sorry,” Geoffroi “Roi” Majors stated as he glanced back at Eadan from the front passenger seat of the Hum-V. The vehicle that currently held five not so small guys was hardly inconspicuous. It was also less than comfortable. They stuck out like sore thumbs and Eadan Daly had to question the wisdom of this being their getaway vehicle. This one wasn’t reinforced to help stop bullets. It seemed a lot like tissue paper at the moment. Pretty much all it had going for it was cool factor. One that screamed, government or paramilitary group. A blinking sign on the top would only make it worse.

Shoot here. There is a better than average chance you’ll hit your target.

With the entrance Lukian had been forced to make to get to them, they might as well have sent out engraved invitations to the enemy to come shoot at them there. Would have proved as effective.

“This thing go any faster?” Wilson asked, fidgeting in his seat.

Lukian didn’t comment. He merely glanced at the rearview mirror. His glare was enough of a response.

Eadan’s ears were still ringing from the hail of gunfire around them. Had he not assisted with his magik they’d be picking lead out of his ass.

Out of all their asses.

Character: Gwen Stevens

I’m often asked how I “see” a character while writing them. I thought it would be fun if I started to share photos (that I have either bought from stock site or have permission to use) of how I sort of see my characters in my head.

I’ll start with Gwen Stevens from the Daughter of Darkness books. I talk about her having long jet-black hair that is straight, full lips, green eyes, pale skin. To me you can’t exactly place her ethnicity because of the Fae in her. After much time on stock sites I found this picture that is close to how I see Gwen.

Tell me, how do you see Gwen?
