CBO: Reid Plan would Cut Deficit More Than Boehner Proposal

Source: Felicia Sonmez / The Washington Post The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said Wednesday morning that the debt-ceiling plan drafted by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) would result in greater deficit savings than a competing proposal by House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio). The difference is due in part to the fact that the Reid plan would extend the debt ceiling for a longer period of time than would the Boehner plan, which would call for a two-step process.
