A Couple News Items

I was surprised and delighted to hear that Blackveil was nominated for the UK's David Gemmell Legend Award for best fantasy novel of 2011, alongside the works of several other terrific authors. You can vote for your favorites here: http://www.gemmellaward.com/page/the-legend-award#pd_a_5790223 And I think pretty much anyone can vote.

To top it off, I also learned today that Green Rider will be published in Japan at some future date, which I find very exciting. I hope readers there will enjoy it!

Autumn Update

I hope everyone had a pleasant summer (or winter, depending where you are in the world). There has been a dearth of posts here (I tend to be more active on Facebook) and what that means is that there hasn't been anything newsworthy to post, which also means I've been busy scribbling away on book 5 (still untitled) and attending to life's mundanities. Since it's been such a span, however, I thought I'd touch base with a few things.

Audio Books: The Green Rider series is undergoing production to be available (all four books) in February 2012. I understand the recording is going well. They completed Green Rider some while ago, and should be done with First Rider's Call. The voice artist narrating the books is Ellen Archer, who has an array of commercials, books, etc to her credit. The director/producer on the project is David Rapkin, who won two Grammy Awards for his work and has directed some very notable books, including those featuring a young wizard named Harry Potter. David has been great about trying to get the pronunciations of names in my books correct. I look forward to hearing my books.

Paperbacks: Also in February, Blackveil will be available in paperback.

France: As I recall, Blackveil will be available in France next month (November 2011).

Germany: I have heard that my German publisher has picked up Blackveil as well. I have no idea when it will be available.

On a personal note, I am currently packing up for a bit of a cross country journey, a new adventure, that will allow me to escape the first few months of another wicked Maine winter. I hope to find inspiration and renewal in a completely different landscape. I'll be treating it, in part, as a writing retreat, where snow shoveling won't cut into my writing time. Keep well!

Excuses, Excuses

Hi Folks,

There are a few of you who have written me letters, in some cases months ago. You may be wondering why I haven't yet responded. I want to let you know that I'm trying. I have no employees to help me with administrative tasks, nor any spousal unit or significant others to pitch in with biz or household chores (I often fantasize about having house elves). Also, some of you may know that the health gods have been giving me a hard time this year, all of which means that when I am healthy, book 5 takes precedence over things like answering letters. And vacuuming. And mowing. Aaaand.... Anyone got some house elves they can share? In any case, I will get to your letters eventually, and thank you for your patience.

Audio!!

Still alive... Just heard that all four books of the Green Rider series will be available for your listening pleasure from Penguin Audio, to coincide with the release of Blackveil in mass market paperback--probably in February 2012. The audio books will be in downloadable form. They may or may not do physical CDs, depending on market forces. As we know, this is a time of change for the delivery of content! In any case, I'm hugely pleased, and am looking forward to finding out how my books sound! :-)
