GREEN RIDER eBook Sale

Thought I'd let you guys know that the US ebook edition of Green Rider is on sale for $1.99 at all ebook retailers. If you know someone who has considered starting the series but hasn't, this is a good time. Many thanks to my US publisher, DAW Books, for making this happen.

Going to C2E2?

image

Behold! An ARC of Mirror Sight! An "ARC" is an advance reading copy that goes out to reviewers before a final copy of the book is printed up and distributed. Giving a reviewer a chance to review a copy of a forthcoming book is pretty important to any marketing campaign. ARCs are also known as galleys, uncorrected proofs, and review copies. Unlike the ARC, the final copy of the book will be hardcover. The ARC is also, as "uncorrected proof" might indicate, full of typos and such, which are hopefully fixed before the final copy comes into being. (!!!)

If you are lucky enough this April to be attending C2E2 (Chicago Comics Expo) http://www.c2e2.com, 600 copies of the Mirror Sight ARC are being given away preceding the publication of the final book May 6th. Look for the Penguin booth (#419)! You do not have to be a reviewer to snag a copy :)

Special MIRROR SIGHT item up for auction

Each December, Pat Rothfuss and his minions have been operating "World Builders" to benefit the charity, Hefer International. This year I have donated a special little something  from book five of the Green Rider series, MIRROR SIGHT (forthcoming May 6). It is currently up for auction at eBay here: http://blog.patrickrothfuss.com/2013/12/signed-books-from-awesome-authors-2/ (scroll down a little bit)

Official Facebook Page

Hello! I now have an official Facebook "fan page" here: https://www.facebook.com/kristenbritainofficialfanpage?ref=hl

I will no longer be accepting friend requests at my old personal page (unless I actually know you). Most of my activity will be at my new page anyway, and the plan is to keep it up as I did the old personal page.

O' ye social media. Takes a bit to get the hang of sometimes.

Mirror Sight Cover

Mirror_Sight_Fcov Here is the front cover for Mirror Sight (forthcoming May 6, 2014, in North America). Also, the entire painting by Donato Giancola, posted here with his permission. Enjoy! (And yes, this cover may be different than what you'll see in other countries/territories. The book will also be out in May in the UK, but I do not yet know about other countries.)

Release Date

I have been meaning to drop by here, but have been bogged down with edits on Mirror Sight. Some of you may have figured this out elsewhere, but for those who have not seen the news, the release date in North America and the UK for Green Rider 5: Mirror Sight is May 2014. I am afraid to say I don't have any details about any other countries, but if I hear anything, I will post them. The book is in production (cover design, edits and soon copyediting, and all the behind-the-scenes stuff that turns a manuscript into a book)! :)

In the meantime, I hope you have a wonderful September and find lots of good stuff to read.

A Title

Summer greetings, and for those on the other side of the world, winter greetings! I have been given the go ahead to release the title for the fifth Green Rider book--I wanted to ensure my editor approved before I loosed it into the world. In the age of the internet, it can get sticky when you release a piece of information, which gets replicated elsewhere, only to have, down the line, that piece of information changed, and peope are like, Huh?? and confused. Confusing stuff happens anyway, but one can try. In any case, the title of the new book is Mirror Sight. I expect the book to be released next spring, barring any major problems with the text and anything else that can go wrong.

Be well, everyone.

Spring Salutations

Hello there. Trees and stuff are all leafed out down here in the prickly southwest, and temperatures are edging their way toward the 90s. What a contrast to my former home in Maine!

In any case, the biggest news around my house is that I finished GR5 and sent it to my editor on 4/26. It is on her schedule to be read and edited. Once she has gone over it, she will tell me what needs to be fixed, and then I will fix it. This is my longest book so far at almost 251,000 words. Alas, I have no official title or release date yet.

Meanwhile, I'm using my time to catch up on myriad stuff left undone while I worked. There is lots still left over from the move, in addition to everyday chores. Can you stand the excitement?

Until next time, be well.

The Silence

Happy New Year to one and all. May this be a happy, healthy, and prosperous year for all of us.

Since last I posted, I have moved cross country to the desert Southwest into a new (older) home and have incorporated a wonderful kitten into the family. Moving is a very involving process that has required a lot of time and attention, along with dealing with my old house from afar and trying to make the new place habitable. Then there were the holidays, yadda yadda yadda. Despite all the yadda yadda yadda, work on the fifth Green Rider book is ongoing and coming along well. Now that I am slightly more settled in, I hope for even better progress. I'm sorry, no publication date as yet.

If anything newsworthy pops up, I'll be back. In the meantime, I'm fairly active on Facebook, and otherwise writing, which is for the good.
