1968 Chevrolet Nova plainjane
Almost all the Novas of this era you see for sale are wearing the SS package, whether or not they came out of the factory so equipped. Caught this plainjane in Cambridge a while back. Some cars, without ever being cherished as 'classics', still hang in there for 55 years and become wonderful survivors. It usually turns out that they belonged to someone's grandmother for a good long time.

Renault 5: Le car
From Jonathan Welsh: The Renault 5 helped define the supermini category in Europe in the early 1970s. It arrived in the U.S. as the Le Car in 1976 and made a mark after Renault struck a deal to sell it through American Motors dealerships. Front-drive hatchbacks were still novel in the states and the Renault's high gas mileage endeared it to buyers during the 1970s energy crises. This one turned up in Montclair, N.J. Still stylish today.AL: In Montreal c. 1976, driving the Cinq was almost mandatory, if you were a Québècois nationalist. Which was weird, since they were all built in Europe whereas le Camaro, for example, was built at the Ste-Thérese, Quebec assembly plant. Plenty of chic, not famed for reliability. That's back-to-back Renaults here on AL--did you see yesterday's post from Paris?

Matt Dallet caught the truck in Paris, "on the Pont Alexandre III, opposite Les Invalides."AL: There was a time when Montreal cops squeezed into Renaults. Here's a Renault 4CV at the end of the road. speaking of French trucks, here's le Citroën camionette.

Purposeful 1987 GMC 3500
From Jonathan Welsh: I was taking our son for a Covid booster at the CVS in Bloomfield, N.J., when I spotted this rig parked nearby. Not sure if this one is a contractor vehicle or part of a municipal fleet, but the inspection sticker suggests it has not seen much action lately. Still has a purposeful look that I find appealing.
