from our man in Banff, Alex Emond: "There were a handful of street-rod type classic cars and trucks here for a little show 'n shine . The Diamond 'T' might have been the diamond in the rough. Smaller turnout than last year, it seemed, and a negative forecast might have discouraged some folks. The weather was fine, as it turned out. Anyhoo ... here are some pretty trucks, even though I have become more of a fan of the " Original Survivor " type truck I have to admit that these units are a gas. Cheers, Alex"
If you're following this blog you might know that boats, especially sailboats, are another interest of ours. In downeast Maine this time of year there tends to be more interesting boat action than truck action. For example we were catching crabs down at the boatyard this afternoon just when Havilah Hawkins' 50' gaff-rigged sloop Vela was going in. She is a handsome vessel, which HH built, on the other side of the Benjamin river in Sedgwick ME. p.s. H landed 10 crabs, some softball size, in about half an hour.
from our man in Paris, Craig Manning: "Spotted in the 14th. I do not know what it is but gorgeous blue, lovingly maintained. Note boat fender on grill to defend against aggressive Parisian parkers." --CEM
This Monarch is from AE in Saskatchewan. Check out the hood ornament, a sleekly stylized British Lion, fitting in with the imperial theme of this Canadian Mercury. Autoliterate found one of these in Vancouver a couple of years ago, suicide doors and all.
