1960 El Camino, Colorado Springs
I met the El Camino on a Sunday morning in Colorado Springs. I was heading into my office at Colorado College to work on revisions of novel #3. It was bright morning. I knew I'd catch a cool car, and I did. I saw the EC on Colorado Boulevard, waved frantically, and the owner, Bob Fling, a car guy, was willing to pull over. He did the car himself, 17 years ago. Bob has a few more and I hope to see them.

1949 Lincoln, 1960 Bonneville, etc. Whitney's in Windham, Maine.
From Jarrod McCabe:"Do you know jeff whitney of whitney’s automotive in windham? BB might have told you already, but clementine’s points went out on the shoot over in south casco. I called the local napa to get a recommendation on where to take her and they sent me to this guy. whitney’s is a fourth-generation family owned repair shop. he’s got a junkyard that has “Tons of stuff all the way back to model A’s” and he mentioned his “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” ethos when it comes to fixing peoples rigs. Some notes:The truck’s rear end is a chevy and it’s all on top of a jeep so it’s 4-wheel all the time. The mercury shell sits atop a cadillac. he called it his “sleeper”. He said it’ll give a modern day audi a run for it’s money off the line. That crazy looking long thing is pretty much one of a kind. i forget the story with that one but he told me it’s won a bunch of special interest trophies. And lastly is a wide-track pontiac which i thought you’d be excited about. i remember you dedicating a post to them at one point. If you need anything for the GMC it might be a good place to check out."-JMc

1968 Citroen truck in the Ardennes
from Guido Goluke, Dutch translator of On the Road (and many other):"Beste Peter, have just returned from a cycle trip to the Bourgogne, France, to friends of mine who live there. It was a journey of 9 days and just over 1000 kms, that started with cold weather and hail in the dark Ardennes. In the Ardennes it was so cold that I feared the long descents (joy of every cyclist), because after a clammy, sweaty arrival at the top the zooming downhill was chilling indeed. Further south the sun warmed the spirit, and after day 4, arm and leg warmers were only donned in the hazy mornings. "En route I came through a village, where I found this 1968 Citroen truck, still in full use to deliver the weekly portion of burgundy red to the villagers. The driver/wineman was very amused and puzzled by my interest in his truck – ‘it’s just a truck’. Yes, a faithful beast carting the weekly wine around!"-GG

What do you get for a guy who owns a '45 Chevy truck?
Michael Moore reports on the perfect birthday present:"I went out in the alley and found this on the running board of the '45...haven't a clue [after accusing everyone who knew it was my birthday last week, and who knew I'd been looking for one of these, albeit had given up last year when I found a nicely rusted one [see below]; ...and I'm pretty sure, given you're cruising around the Springs in that little blue thing, it wasn't you, either..."--MSM

Hyundai? Accent? Autoliterate?
Okay, it's not a truck. And it would be easy to lose in a parking lot if it wasn't electric blue. But over the last couple of weeks I've grown very fond of my rented Hyundai. It is a tight, nimble tight little machine, miles better than other rentals, Fords and Nissans, I've endured lately.

That Ford F2, Colorado Springs
Couldn't resist shooting it again. Get the running gear in order. Wouldn't touch the body. Maybe fix the driver's side door handle.
