1966 Ford F-100 stepside

Sam Harper caught the truck in Boulder CO. We posted another F-100, same era, from Swift Current, Saskatchewan.

1965 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88, N.J.

From Jonathan Welsh: Forget big engines. Big overhangs are what make 1960s cars from the U.S. so appealing! This wide, angular and uncluttered design screams 1965 -- the year General Motors got the aesthetic right. I think it took Chrysler and Ford another couple of years. This survivor surfaced in Montclair, N.J.

AL:There was a time when Oldsmobile meant...rocket. As in this '71 Olds 442. We will say it again, though: '59 was the year.

Freeway Traffic

Wayne Thiebaud. Freeway Traffic

"Because roads, streets, highways, boulevards, and freeways are an inescapable part of our life, they understandably are part of our art. In the foreground or the background, they anchor our art to reality, serve as symbols, or twist and turn in ways never dreamed by an engineer..." -Richard F. Weingroff in Highways.dot.gov

1962 Volkswagen bus, Colorado Springs

This was a very clean machine. Here's another bus of the era, in Reno.

Cetacean Wagons

This 1996 Buick Roadster is on the block at Hemmings. We have always been fond of GM's whale wagons of the 1990's. Some sport the full monte: vinyl woodgrain, like this whale in Banff. Here's another cetacean wagon in Blue Hill, Maine.

1937 LaSalle coupe

From Stephen Hendrickson: "1937 La Salle seen resting in the countryside, upstate New York.Certainly not an original paint color."

AL: on a cold Maine morning we saw a '39 LaSalle for sale, and another '39, lightly customized in the Sierra foothills.

1973 Chevrolet El Camino 454 SS

Believe it or not, it came this way, straight from the factory. An original. Other El Caminos we have known: this 1970 Maine car. Maybe our fave: a '59 Cat's Eye EC, from up in Vermont. A plainjane 1969 El Camino from West Texas; a very clean '69 from Ventura, CA. And then, the archival 1960 El Camino from Greene Avenue Lunch & Soda...Okay, we can't stop. How about this '64 EC from NL? And another '60 from Colorado Springs
