Montreal's modernist gas station

La Station is on Isle de Souers, an island in the St Lawrence close by downtown Montreal. It was designed as an Esso gas station by Mies van de Rohe's from in 1969 and a few years ago converted to a community center by the city of Verdun.

Los Angeles by night

I guess that was the LA we all wanted to live in. Didn't work out that way, however. Julius Shulman's photo of Pierre Koenig's Stahl house. May 1960. You know that LA has always fascinated us...maybe you remember our posting Rick McCloskey's series of photos from the scene on Ventura Blvd in Van Nuys, c 1972. And Shulman's modernism in Malibu.

1953 Studebaker, East Bay

Michael Moore photo. When you compare these Studebakers to the Belchfires of the era...

1950 Ford F-155, Banff

From Alex Emond, in Banff: "It isn't too beat up at all. Unusual sighting for Banff. That snow ... first of the season but the sun is back"

Studebaker pickup, Maine.

Caught the truck in Arundel, Maine at Motorland. We've posted a bunch of Studebaker trucks, several from Motorland, where they have a strong Studebaker thing going. Like this Champ.

Triumph, peu-être?

Craig Manning caught the car in Paris. AL guess is maybe a Triumph with a kinda ugly aftermarket fiberglas top? BTW, our favorite French cop series is Spiral (Engrenages). You feel like you've been on a tour of a whole 'nother Paris.

1980 Chevrolet Malibu wagon

Sleeper wagon. What wasn't invested in the paint job was put into wheels, tires and whatever's under the hood. Caught the car on a brilliant November day in Bath, Maine. It's a shipbuilding town. We walked around looking the built world of Bath a while back. Caught a 1971 Volvo 164 in Bath some time ago. And a few Novembers ago we explored the nearby Phippsburg Peninsula.
