Weekend Writing Warriors Post-On my new book! Yes it’s available for download for only $2.99. 2 Great Stories!!

This Christmas
Good morning fellow Weekend Writing Warriors.  I’ve had a very interesting week.  I started working part-time as a 911-dispatcher and I love it.  I’m hoping that I’m able to go full-time in the near future.  It is amazing, I can’t even describe it.  I’ve always wanted to work in a field where I’d be helping people and in many ways this feels like a perfect match.  Besides this my book, that you’ve been reading in the past few weeks is now available for download.  No more skipping paragraphs or waiting for the next Sunday, where I’ll give you more.  Now you can purchase it and read the entire thing, along with an additional short story from my ABFF Tamara Philip.
Well for this week friends, we’re going to see how this story takes a sudden turn.  The officer that pulled Yasmin over has just asked her out after realizing that he knows her brother.  Yasmin realizes that the officer has a wedding ring on and confronts him on it.  He reveals this very difficult fact about his wife (you’ll see in a few moments) and Yasmin suddenly realizes that her own problems aren’t quite as big as she originally thought them to be.

******************************************************************************************************

“This is her now.” He said holding up a picture of a tombstone with the name Maggie Reyes-Colon written across it.

I sucked all my breath in, feeling as if my heart might collapse.

“I’ve had a rough year too.” The officer said, “Actually a rough few years, she died right around this time of the year.”

He looked back at me.

“Cancer,” He said. “They were never able to find her a match.”

*******************************************************************************************************

Again, you can wait to read more next week, or you can get online now and order this exciting story:  Click here to get the book now!  http://tinyurl.com/n9zjscd

#8Sunday Weekend Writing Warriors Post-Writers there are still 13 Hours left to Sign up!

Good morning Weekend Writing Warriors!  Trying to get a jump at this!  This weekend is a very special weekend because tomorrow (Sunday) is my mother-in-law’s 80th birthday!  So excited for her!  She is a wonderful-wonderful woman!  We wanted to give her a big birthday party but the funds were a little short, so I’m hoping that we can do a late one for her in a few months.  She’s really a remarkable woman.

About five years ago, we nearly lost her.  She had been a long time smoker, refusing to kick the habit, even after a few trips to the ER for complications of her smoking and having asthma–she couldn’t breathe.  Anyhow on the last trip in it was very scary because the doctors thought that was it, they forced tubes down her throat, even cut a hole in it.  Family came from all over the country because the doctors said she wasn’t going to make it out of the ICU, anyhow she did and she’s still kicking.  That last experience made her finally stop smoking, plus she’s was probably scared to light up, since she has a huge oxygen tank that sits in her room, while she is forced to walk around her house with tubes and such dragging along behind her—if she lights up, she was told the house could blow up.  Anyhow, let that be a reminder to those who can’t kick the habit, of what might come.

Now, for my eight!  Sorry for getting off-track, but that’s what I do best!  ;)  Was going to jump a paragraph ahead from last week and get down to a really interesting part of the story, but I decided to go more so in order.  I wanted you to see exactly how Yasmin did herself in on that ticket!

*******************************************************************************************************

He didn’t crack a smile.

“Listen the reason that I pulled you over, was that you were using your cellphone while driving.” The officer said. “However it is helpful to know that you have some other things going on with your car as well.”

I let out a deep breath, I had really done myself in. I handed him my insurance card.

“Where’s your license.” The officer asked.

*******************************************************************************************************

Okay that’s it.  I promise something really interesting will happen next week.  In the meanwhile, please visit all the other Weekend Writing Warriors for their snippet’s by clicking here.

Amazing Authors- Interview With Charmaine Gordon, Author of “Help Wanted”

Welcome, I’m Neva Squires-Rodriguez, Author of the Liliana Series.  Book 1 is a Contemporary Romantic Suspense that will send you into an Emotional Overload.  Read Liliana now and let me know what you think.  **Also coming soon is an amazing Christmas book, guaranteed to make your heart melt.  Some of my Weekend Writing Warrior friends have been following along, in this exciting new story.  I was blessed by the first opportunity to write with my “ABFF” for the first time ever-I can guarantee you it won’t be a last for us.  Check back in following weeks for more information.

Now, let’s get down to business.  Friends, if you know me, you know that I love to write about Chicagoans.  When I met Charmaine Gordon, Author with Vanilla Heart Publishing, I was delighted to find that she was originally from Chicago.  Now living on the East Coast, Charmaine is more into small town life and that is actually one of the unique things about her new “Rivers Edge Series.”  In reading her books, I’ve found that I love the way Charmaine provides her readers with relatable characters and situations.  Why don’t we read more and then you can let me know what you think…

Author Interview

Charmaine_-10_sATURATED_pp8x10g-72y HW_CVR_front

Where do you currently reside?

After growing up in Chicago and moving wherever the Air Force sent us, we settled in Rockland County, NY in the town of Pearl River, the largest Irish enclave outside of Ireland. It has that hometown feeling where neighbors look after each other like the good old days when you never had to lock your door if you can imagine such a wonderful innocent time.

 What are your hobbies?

I used to garden and build stone patios. Back trouble set in. Big ouchie so I forced myself to calm down, not an easy task. I also did full-time pottery with a wheel until creative juices went wild and I turned to acting. No longer a hobby as in community theater. Now it was real. A job. Show business. A real business complete with unions and insurance.

Tell us about your current release.

Help Wanted is the title. It’s the second book in the River’s Edge Series. Actually book 3 but that will be announced before too long.

River’s Edge, where the town motto is Kindness to Strangers, is a small town with big heart, and stories to tell that will warm your heart, make you smile, and turn a dreary day into a day of hope for the Kindness of Strangers…

 Book 2

Help Wanted

by Charmaine Gordon

Steve and Sally Atwood have some big adjustments to make when they move to River’s Edge. Steve has lost his career in the corporate world and finds work painting houses. Sally flings off her apron and pursues her lifelong dream to be a reporter in the small town with a big heart, where the motto is ‘Kindness to Strangers’.

Afraid he is losing Sally to a more exciting world, Steve panics, but despite Sally’s lecherous new boss, together they rediscover all the love of their thirty-five years together and the excitement that brings.

What inspired you to write your story?

Once I typed The End to Housebroken , Book 1 in the River’s Edge series, I knew the main characters had much more growth ahead of them. Two days later I began to write and the story blossomed. Then a call from my good friend Judy Audevard, director of Hudson Valley Paws for a Cause started me thinking about the therapy dogs and all they do to comfort recovering wounded veteran’s at West Point. Chapter 11 is devoted to tat. It takes place at the veteran’s hospital in River’s Edge The story told that day is taped for cable television and leads to a major break for Sally where she includes her husband Steve in the process.

What was the scariest moment of your life?

Picture this. In the delivery room where I was giving birth to my last child, number six after five boys. The doctor said it’s a girl. Joy after the dreadful months. Then to the recovery room. I heard women talking about husbands in Vietnam and then I was choking. Pain in my belly. I tried calling for the nurses ;no one came. Until a distant voice said she’s hemmoraging. Much later my doctor’s voice said we’er doing everything we can. Surgery to pack the bleeding. Oxygen mask and I’m choking, vomiting and no one pays attention. Only me as I watch from above the frantic working over my body. I didn’t care drifting away down the corridor of light almost home when my inside voice says, you can’t die and leave Bud with all the boys and a new baby. Four days later I woke from a coma. The nurse said meet your baby girl. Too weak to touch her, I smiled, asked for a phone. Call my husband please. When he heard my voice, he cried. Near death experience. Scary. Very scary.

What family members are closest to you and how have they supported your writing career?

Husband leaves me to my madness as long as dinner is on the table. He likes non-fiction. What I write doesn’t interest him. But he’s a sweetie. Daughter is proud of me as is my youngest granddaughter who always introduces me as Granny who writes books.

What was your favorite book growing up?

I so loved the forbidden Forever Amber to be read under the covers with a flashlight. Naught teen.

Shakespeare’s plays are still my favorite.

(Side note-I love Shakespeare also Charmaine, although it took me a long time to understand him…”King Lear” is my favorite.)

What is the craziest thing that you have ever done in your life?

Have too many kids. Case closed.

What writers have most inspired you?

I love John Sandford, Susan Isaacs and Elmore Leonard and I’ll never forget Robert B. Parker.

What was the most unexpected thing that happened after your latest book hit the presses.

Help Wanted is a story people relate to .They are attracted to the small town of River’s Edge. I’m thrilled to bring a touch of hometown U.S.A. to the reading public.

Amazing Authors-Meet Hank Seitz, Author of Encouragement, Business Coach and more!

Welcome to my page, I’m Neva Squires Rodriguez, author of the “Liliana Series.”  Start with book number one, “Liliana” and be sent on an emotional overload with this Contemporary Romantic Suspense.

Today I am hosting this exciting author interview on Hank Seitz, the author of “Encouragement.”  What I found intriguing about this book is that “it took 3 years to write these encouragements and they were written when Dr. Hank was aligned, inspired and in the flow with “All That Is”.   Those who know me, know that I thoroughly enjoy reading words of encouragements and what I found written on his book were that his “words shall uplift you and you will gain positive momentum that shall sweep you through each day to better and better days.”  Who’s sold, just on that statement?

Hank Seitz is a Buisness Coach, which means that you can reach out to him if you would like to hire him to speak at your next affair.  Good going Hank!  Furthermore “it’s said that AGENTS WHO COACH WITH DR. HANK EARN 315% MORE COMMISSIONS and that THOSE THAT HIRE DR. HANK TO SPEAK HAVE 1,000% MORE FUN!”  I don’t know about you, but that sounds intriguing to me, let’s read more.

Christina’s Quince @MondayBlogs #MONDAYBLOGS # Religion #Comingofage

Hey guys, just want to see what you think of this idea…

My daughter is currently 13 years old, almost 14 and when she turns 15, she would like to have a quince (similar to a Sweet Sixteen), anyhow I’m thinking of having her start a page.  On this page, I would ask her to write about church services that she’s attended or streamed online each week and her reaction to the service.  I’m thinking that I will have her write her own entries and that way she can get some feedback from others (besides her mom) on her thoughts and writing technique.  It will also be interesting to see how her thoughts develop over the course of a year.

I’m thinking I might even have her start her own blog, that way besides her posts she can also start a page with quince ideas, themes, pictures that she can share, or maybe that you could share ideas with her.  I was also thinking that it might be interesting if I have her do a report a month on how women live in other countries and what their coming of age rituals are.  What do you guys think?  Have any of you done anything similar to this with your kids?  I think that it will teach her to be more appreciative and more knowledgeable on the overall meaning of what a quince is.

#8SUNDAY-Still time to be added to the list, posting my entry now. Weekend Writing Warriors November 9th edition.

Hello friends, posting early as to avoid the catastrophe with my post not posting like last week.  Anyhow, did you enjoy your week?  Mine has been going kind of crazy, I’ll blame it on the full moon, seeing as I work in Customer Service and our callers have not been in the best of moods this past week.  I’m told that I’m the calmest person in the world (at work) but really, I am just a string away from an intense reply to them.  I mean seriously I do customer service for Human Resource Support and it’s the top dogs that are making mistakes and then combating our poor customer service reps.  I feel a little beat up today and will probably spend my entire weekend hiding under my comforter for protection from all the crazies.  Wonder if the kids will go for the idea???  :) (If you’ve been following me, you know I have a very unique sense of humor, I’m totally kidding and venting, but mostly it’s a joke.)  (Half English, no need to make any phone calls, I’m okay.)

Now down to business….  Weekend Writing Warriors is the place that we all come together on Sundays and write our hearts out.  Over the past few weeks I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading everyone’s snippets.  (We only get 8 sentences.)  I’ve travelled to Medieval Times,  wondered about the goings on of two sisters, seen a husband leave a wife and have even read/witnessed people dropping in courtrooms.  (and so much more)  You’ve simply got to check out all of the other fabulous writers here:  http://www.wewriwa.com/  I love them to death.  @Chelle, Charmaine, Tamara, Teresa, Christina, Frank, Chantelle, Lauren, E.P. ?, Elaine, Sue Ann(where are you this week?), Caitlin, Veronica, Cara, Yawatta, Lashell, Nicolette and all the others, shoot, I know I’ve left some out, please forgive me.

Anyhow, last week Yasmin found out that her neighbor saw the blonde that Travis was dating on the side.  This week Yasmin has made it out of the building, got in her car and is almost at her mother’s house, when this happens….  Happy reading.

********************************************************************************************

As the officer approached the car, I thought over what I was going to say. I didn’t even look at the officer as I rolled down the window.

“Look I was going to get my license plate sticker next month.” I blurted out. “I have a job interview on Monday and I’m praying that I get the job, lately nothing is going right for me and I know my taillight it not helping the situation, but look at my gas tank, I barely had enough gas to get to my mother’s house.”

The officer stared at me, holding his ticket book in hand, with his pen frozen in the other midair.

“Man that was a lot of talking to do all in one breath wasn’t it?” The officer replied.

*********************************************************************************************

Hope you enjoyed it.  Please vote for my book, Liliana, in the 2014 Goodreads Choice Awards, I have till November 10th to collect votes, in hopes of making it on to the ballot.  You must write in your vote.  I am hoping to be nominated into one of these categories:  Romance, Debut Author, Young Adult Fiction…I can exchange votes for you in any other category, except fiction because I nominated “The Trouble With Playing Cupid” by Tamara Philip there.  Here’s the link, please vote:  https://www.goodreads.com/choiceawards/best-fiction-books-2014

Hey guys, I don’t normally blog items that are for sale, but considering that Yasmin snatched the handmade wreath off of the door in my Weekend Writing Warriors Post from two weeks ago, I had to share this fabulous handmade item website with you and great news, they do take PayPal!

roxy4

Aren’t these the cutest booties that you’ve ever seen in your life?  Hooked On A Loop specializes in girls clothing and kids items size 6 months to size 7.  The owner Roxana Cruz-Savage also makes handmade crochet hats, blankets and just about anything that you can think of.  Her business is new and designs are being added as we speak.  With three sisters and her mother to help get the yarn and fabric together, her business has taken off.

Roxana’s sister Milagro, the spokeswoman for the company says, “We decided to open this page since Roxy gets multiple request from friends/co-workers to see her work.”  Milagro goes on to mention that already made items only take 3-5 days to get to their destination and that customized orders only take about two weeks to arrive, depending on their complexity.  Need a hat in your favorite team colors, they can do it.  Need a dress for your daughters Holiday pictures?  They can do that too, but you need to order quickly!

Is anyone thinking these items would be great for their holiday shopping list?  I know I am.  Here is where to find them:
