forged by an enchantment,     yet their love is the brightest flame of all.

Spelled by a dark magic, only love can light the way.

Bound by a dark enchantment, only an elemental flame can light the
way.
Like the Phoenix, who will rise again?

Vengeance

Forged in rage and sorrow, a dark witch’s spell travels down her ancestral line to Violet Levina. Enchanted with the power of the entire Electromagnetic spectrum—microwaves, gamma rays, radio waves, Violet is cursed with limitless energy and the obligation to destroy an insidious creature composed of dark matter.

Justice

For over five hundred years, Flint has served as Fire, aiding Earth’s environment and its people as one of four Elementals. Yet only once in his long existence has he been burned. A flaming edhead ignites the embers of his heart, but he finds her resistant to the heat building between them.

Illumination

Knowing she must fulfill her destiny, Violet travels to her ancestral home in Ireland, accompanied by the fiery Elemental. Not fooled by his charms and brazen demeanor, Violet wishes only to shield him from the coming battle, but can’t deny the flames of desire flickering when she is at his side.

 Love

While standing together against unrelenting adversaries, false friends, family betrayals, and an underlying seed of darkness, they must burn bright or the ruthless power behind the ancient spell will turn everything to ash.

With Flint as her beacon in a field of darkness, Violet
will discover that love holds the most powerful magic of all.

Fire’s Field Prologue

They were coming for her.
On the eve of her mother’s 25th birthday, a young witch fought back chills as the sounds of braying bloodhounds echoed through the  forest. A single red stroke, mixed with the faintest purple, lit the darkening
sky, as night, along with death, crept closer.

At the banks of River Nore, Sorcha rocked back and forth, tears of innocence-lost escaping down her cheeks. Heart splintering, she searched her memory for a spell to ease her mother’s torment. With her hands locked in the fabric of her mother’s woolen dress, she chanted pleas to the Goddess Isis to hear her cries and heal her mother.

To no avail.

The only answer came in the form of the demon’s sickness dripping from her mother’s mouth in a sludge of grimy gray mud.

Fear unlike anything she’d ever felt iced her heart, as once more she begged, swore her very life in exchange for the continued beat of her mother’s heart.

A piercing pain shot through her overburdened mind as the beast fought to break through her mental shields. Weakened by her angst and un-tested youth, she left a crack exposed, and the beast slipped in. Squinting her eyes closed, her entire body shaking with the will to deny the sick beast entrance, she couldn’t prevent his foul words from seeping through.

“Your mother paid for her defiance, for her inability to accept this gift only I could give her. Look at you simpering and shaking, if you weren’t so weak I’d use you, but no matter, I’ll be back.”

Drained from holding back the tempest, Sorcha let loose true sobs for the loss of the deepest love of her life, her solid fortress during every storm, the lyrical voice singing away her nightmares. Ignoring her drenched skirts, she released all her torment against her mother’s breast, barely catching the beat of her mother’s weakening heart between each aching moan torn from the depths of her soul.

No one came to her aid. No one soothed her broken spirit.

The sounds of the hounds drew closer, their howls a mad cacophony in her surreal world. The yellow-glow from fire-tipped sticks, created a mystical glow in the woods before her. Snaps and cracks of branches reverberated across the forest as the frenzied townspeople advanced to accuse and convict one of their own—a witch.

Curly Mesh Wreath

This wreath is part of a raffle for the Indiana Romance Writers of America Mini-Conference, MAKING MAGIC, featuring  NYT & USA Today Bestselling
Author Lani Diane Rich & Story expert & award-winning podcaster Alastair
Stephens of StoryWonk at The Propylaeum 1410 North Delaware Street, Indianapolis  Saturday, April 18, 2015  8:00am-3:00pm

Picture Buy rolls of 10"wire mesh in any color. Picture Use the wreath with the ties that are made for the wire mesh. This one was $5 at Old Time Pottery. Picture Layer the rolls so that all colors can be cut at the same time. Measure 9"and cut all layers. Picture Roll the cut pieces and grasp in the middle. Picture If the pieces want to unroll, corral them with clips such as this Green Moose Productions clip given to me by Jillian Jacobs. Picture Attach the 3 rolled pieces of mesh to the wreath, beginning on the outside ring. Just twist the ties together to hold the mesh ribbons. Continue to attach each trio of mesh pieces to each of the ties until the wreath is complete. Picture The finished product will be part of the raffle basket that will include swag and my August 2014 release Blue Falcon. Picture Here is a red, white and blue wreath using wire mesh. This wreath in is made by scrunching the mesh and tying them off with the ties on the wreath. This method does not involve cutting, and only uses 1 roll of the wide 21" mesh.

Holiday Cheer!

Update on my happy holiday in New Mexico. The college student who is house and dog sitting, locked himself out of the bathroom. His antibiotics were in the bathroom, but the key wouldn't work. We called a friend to drill out the door knob, but he ended up needing to just break the door knob off. Office manager called this morning and the door knob on the storm door is missing and the door is propped open. On the upside, the doggie is happy and well.

Saturday morning, I was brushing my teeth when I noticed a leak in the bathroom ceiling. We needed to leave because my youngest niece was playing in a basketball tournament in Albuquerque, which is two hours away. I put a bucket under leak and hoped for the best.

Saturday evening, my sister gets a call from the crew that cleans her physical therapy clinic informing her that there was a sever leak in the ceiling, and water was everywhere. Husband and Brother-In-Law rush back up the mountain. Apparently, the radiant floor heat had sprung a leak in the 3rd level and water was running all the way down to the clinic on the lower level. Hubby and B-I-L got to bed at 2:45 Sunday morning, but the equipment, computer and files were spared. Hubby, nephew and B-I-L went back on Sunday to clean up and move equipment so the restoration crew could begin work. B-I-L threw his back out and couldn't get out of bed this morning. Luckily, my sister is a Physical Therapist.

Older sister took niece and nephew to ski in Santa Fe. The resort was too crowded and they had to leave.

I am headed over to the clinic to help swab the deck.

I hope everyone had a merry Christmas.

Here's to a happy &@#+*%$ New Year!

Today is Jillian Jacob's birthday and Water's Threshold's release day! Celebrate with us.

Tell   us about the main character. What inspired you to develop this
character?

The main character, Maya Conway came about as I considered all the paranormal books  about vampires. They survive off blood, but water is a crucial part of everyone’s existence. So, I created a girl who survived off water. The natural progression then led to the elements.

While reading Water’s Threshold, I noticed you had several facts about Mother Earth and her properties. How did you research the data for this book?

Actually, a lot of witchcraft books relate back to Mother Earth. I borrowed books from the library on the subject of elements and spell casting. There are a lot of characteristics attached to each element. I kept as close to those
representations as I could. I had fun creating the vision of Mother Nature. I imagine, she’s quite beautiful. I hope you walk away from this book with a vivid picture of her in your mind.

This is series. Can you tell us about the other books in the series, and what we might expect for the future?

The next book is Fire’s Field. Flint’s story Following that will be Air or Nodin’s story. Actually, I was stuck about the final book. The direction. Then, as I was writing Fire’s Field the solution just came to me. Huge light bulb moment. The outline of Fire’s Field is done, but it wasn’t suspenseful enough. I stepped away and noodled over this, and finally, once more had an, aha! moment.  So, needless to  say, Flint will have his hands full.

Which authors have influenced you?

I’ve sort of meshed my writing style. Consider what I write a cross between, Nicole Jordan, Kat Martin, and Karen Marie Moning.

I  often hear people say they should write a book. What made you
start writing?

Honestly, a  $3,000 federal tax bill. Yikes. I am a self-employed individual, and decided I  needed more income. A year and a half later I’m so far in the red, it isn’t  even funny. However, I’m hoping for big things. So buy my books.  LOL.
I’ve been a  romance reader since forever, and thought, I can do this, no problem. Um, no. My biggest advice is learn the way to WRITE RIGHT.

What type of effort did it take to bring  your book to fruition and do you belong to any writing groups?

Funny you  should ask this question, it took you, Mrs. Catalina. Your support got me here.  I do belong to writing groups. Indiana Romance Writers of America has been  crucial to my growth. I also have a sub-group, called The Juicebox. Check out our Juicebox Dialogues videos on YouTube.

Can you share something from your current work in
progress?

An unedited excerpt? Sure, here is one from Fire’s Field:

“So you’ve  found me.” She waved her hands in the air at her sides. “What
now?”
“Now, I make  sure you don’t have any regrets.”
Violet stuttered out a laugh. “You won’t control me. I can easily destroy
you.”
“Ah, now, my  violet, that I would
regret.”
The evening’s  chill dissipated in his presence. Should she flee? Use her powers to shock him?  Powers she’d been cursed with, or so it seemed at times. No regrets. That viewpoint was easy for a man who knew he’d live more lifetimes. She blew out the candle and turned to study the human personification of fire, lounging in her leather recliner.
A hazy gray  aura seemed to surround Flint, blocking, creating a distance. To keep others at bay? A subtle warning? Yet, he wasn’t the only one with power.

How can readers discover more about you and your work?
