You Were Not There

Deepest rejection of my existence

Crushed and slandered, confused and heart drowned

You were not there

Brand new first

Happy, begging for advice

You were not there

Sudden extinction

Loss of life

You were not there

Questioning all

Turtle in a shell

You were not there

Pain and sorrow

To fill a deep lake

You were not there

Tentatively putting

One foot after the other

You were not there

But God was there

Vending Machine

What if when I stepped up to the vending machine

It didn’tgive me what I wanted

It spit back the coins

It shoved what I need

Not what I pressed

What if when I craved sweets

It pushed out salt

Or simply shut down

Made me wait an eternity

Said no?

What if the vending machine isn’t a vending machine after all?

And my prayers aren’t blank tickets to buy one get one free

And my God knows better than I know myself?

What if He thinks I need

Salty

Bitter

Sour

To nourish and keep me healthy?

Will I sl...

Beatitudes and Woes

Guys, guys, guys!

Remember how I told you I had written a short story, set in a Hawaii-type island nation called The Tears of the Emperor?  The anthology is HERE!

Each of the stories, all written by authors from my Realm Makers group, correlate to the beatitudes in Matthew and the woes in Luke – all with a speculative (sci-fi or fantasy) bent!  I’m so excited!

My story is on “Blessed are they that mourn” – no surprise, eh?

King of Malorn

Free on Amazon from now until July 11th, I’m excited to introduce the long-awaited novel by my dear friend and excellent author, Annie Douglass Lima!

A brand-new fantasy adventure story with a hint of romance  You can download a copy of the ebook for free between July 9th and 11th!

Book Description:

Life as the king’s younger sister should be exciting.

Not for Princess Kalendria. She’s sick of the dissent and of constantly having her family undermined by those who think they could rule...

But Christ

ENDURANCE

A forgotten art

A misplaced treasure

A buried emotion

A tiny cup measure

GRATITUDE

An ignored virtue

An impossible mission

An eclectic rarity

An unseeable vision

FORGIVENESS

The work of a fool

The choice of the weak

The chance for the reprobate

The unclimbable peak

LOVE

Code word for lust

Flits and flails

Degraded to hotel bedrooms

And thrown away veils

BUT CHRIST

Enduring the cross

Teaches gratitude to the Lord

Forgives all our sin

Redeeming love and we are adored

Growth

Behind the door

Impetus
Ignominy
Ignorant

But mine.

If I am my past as much as my contemporary

Then I can’t lacerate and abscond
This retrospection
And fantasize that it never was

They ask me what I’d wish to warn
The younger me, alone and forlorn

It tempts and soothes the mind to cry,
“Two names – evade them, rather die!”

But.

The now me who’s

Intuitive
Incorruptible
Impeccable

Maybe would cease to be

If I had not known you.

All the World is About Bacon

My oldest daughter, who’s eight years old, has extensive food allergies, so eating isn’t always a delight for her.  But she *can* eat bacon – and she does it with gusto.  It’s her favorite food on earth currently.  Yesterday she decided that really everything in life is about bacon, and we laughed ourselves silly coming up with reasons why.  Today we made this list for your viewing pleasure.

EVERYTHING IS ABOUT BACON[image error]

Knives – to cut the bacon

Forks – to lift the bacon to my mouth

Plates –...

When Psychopathic Women Brainwash Other Women

A video review of the pro-life movie UNPLANNED

SPOILERS

EDIT: In doing a bit more research, I have since found out that Abby *was* convinced by assisting in an ultrasound-guided abortion, like the movie portrayed.

Power

I have an ability

Like magic in my veins

A power intense

Causes ecstasy or pains

I wielded this in my youth

With strength and ease

Senseless abandonment

Whenever and wherever I please

The skill is honed

Now that I’m older

Can kill without thought

Fine-tuned and bolder

And it shakes me with terror

As many by it fall

I stifle my power

Evaluate it all

It makes the eyes glisten

Moves the heart

Brainwashes the mind

And changes every part

So these later years

I watch, wait, and pray

And n...
