Out of Time Release
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, it’s been a busy one for me, full of writing.
I have a BIG announcement to make so I hope you are sitting down. Deep breath and here I go….
Most of you know that I was targeting a Spring/April release date for Out of Time. It was completely finished and would have been book 2 in a trilogy. During the course of the last couple of months I have had a change of heart. I would rather bring you a bigger more complete Out of Time. So, that is what I have been doing. I have added over 30,000 words and I have a little bit more to go, but I want to wrap up what I started with Nine Minutes. I want to answer all of your questions.
I know that some of you don’t want Out of Time to be the end. I can say that I have left several options open in the story (not holes, just options) for spin-offs for some favorite characters.
I really feel bad about this, but in my heart I know it’s for the best. My lovely ST will continue to bring you teasers and I’ll release some excerpts to keep you going. Right now, I’m thinking that end of May or very early June is my new target date.
Thank you for the support! Love you all!

Just some updates.
So much has been happening, I can’t seem to keep up! I’m not complaining though, this is more than I imagined in my wildest dreams. It’s all because of you, so thank you for the amazing amount of support. I can’t even describe how much this means to me.
If you don’t know, your best way to keep up-to-date on small things(teasers, giveaways, interviews..etc) is to follow me on Facebook and/or Twitter. There is also a group created for my ‘Niners’, fan’s of Nine Minutes. Feel free to join; everyone is so wonderful!
So just some updates:
I’ve been getting a lot of questions about signings. As of right now, my only confirmed signing is at the Ever After Author Affair in Columbus, OH. There has been a page added to keep you updated on any future signings I may be attending. I’m so new to this whole thing, I don’t expect to attend many this year, but that may change! I will make sure to keep you up to date!
Nine Minutes and Grizz have gotten a lot of attention, more than I could ever imagine. I am so honored that people have thought to nominate NM and Grizz. Grizz is currently nominated at Schmexy Girl Book Blog. I would be forever grateful if you took a moment to vote for Grizz, and they are having a big contest, so don’t forget to enter that!
I participated in a special Valentines interview with TotallyBookedBlog; you can read the interview on their website. Totallybookedblog.com. I hope you like it!
Questions about Out of Time, I still do not have a specific date. April is still my estimated month. It will be longer than Nine Minutes..and as of right now, I’m not sure if it’s the final book.
My wonderful assistant is holding a giveaway on my Author Facebook Page. Be sure to check it out: www.facebook.com/authorbethflynn
I am working on a new store for Nine Minutes accessories and apparel. I am hoping to have the up and running soon!
That’s it for now! Any questions, feel free to leave a comment and I will try my best to get you an answer!

Happy New Year!
I’m a bit late with this, but better later then never, right? How has your year been so far? Did you make any new year resolutions?
I’ve received a lot of questions asking about the release date for Out of Time. I don’t have an exact date set yet, but I am aiming for April.
I released an excerpt and have decided to share another. A BIG thank you for making my dreams come true in 2014. Wishing all of you a happy, healthy and blessed 2015!!
OUT OF TIME (unedited at this time)
*********************************************************************************************The following excerpt takes place in the year 2000 and a couple of days after Grizz’s execution. Ginny leaves Tommy and goes to stay with her friend, Carter. Carter has been living in the house that Grizz built for Ginny in Shady Ranches. Ginny still owned the house, but never lived there with Tommy.
**********************************************************************************************
Ginny couldn’t believe what her friends were telling her. Why had Tommy and Sarah Jo never mentioned it? More secrets. She stood then and looked at Carter. I need some air. She excused herself and went out the back door. She leaned against the deck railing and inhaled deeply. Was she smelling orange blossoms or jasmine or both? Memories invaded her senses. She glanced to her right. The garage. She hadn’t stepped foot in the garage in fifteen years. It was a large, three-car garage, separate from the house. It had a small guest room on the second floor. She slowly walked toward it.
She approached the side door that was under the stairs that led up to the guest quarters. She knelt and lifted a ceramic frog. The keys were still there. The garage was never used. It was one of the conditions that Grizz insisted on when Ginny told him that Carter would be living there.
Ginny had a little trouble with the dead bolt. It obviously hadn’t been opened in years. She went inside and flicked on the light. She expected the air inside to smell bad, but she was surprised that it didn’t. It was just a little stale. She stared at the two automobiles that were covered with big cloth tarps. She knew that under each cover was a black vehicle. Grizz bought a new black Corvette every year. He tried to buy her a new car too every year, but she wouldn’t let him. She loved her birthday Trans Am. She wondered if it would now be considered vintage. She walked past them to the three motorcycles that were lined up in a row. She noticed one with a blue bandana hanging on the handlebar. She approached it and gently lifted the bandana off. She sat on the hard garage floor and lifted it to her face. Could she still smell him or was she just imagining it?
She remembered their first Christmas in their new home. He opened a small box and stared at her.
“I don’t wear perfume, Kit,” he said, giving her a level look.
“It’s not perfume, Grizz. It’s cologne. It’s a cologne for men. Smell it.”
“Real men don’t wear perfume. I’ll never wear it. You can take it back or give it to someone else.” He set it down on the coffee table.
Sometimes he can be so stubborn , she thought. “You know, Grizz, when I was smelling all the different samples at the men’s cologne counter, I’d swear this one really turned me on.” Without looking at him she reached for the bottle and added with a sign, “Maybe Axel will like it. I can always give it to him.”
He swiped it up before she grabbed it. “Turns you on, huh? Maybe I could try it.”
She smiled into the bandana when she remembered that moment. Then her eyes fixed on something else. The back wheel of her Trans Am was showing beneath the cover. They had been married for a couple of years. She didn’t remember why they were in her Trans Am. Maybe his car was in the shop at the time. He was driving and she reminded him that she needed a part.
“Did you remember to ask Axel about my wheel cap?” she asked him as she stared out over the dashboard. They had been at the mall and were navigating the parking lot.
“He didn’t get it for you yet?” Grizz asked.
“No, it’s just a stupid little cap. I don’t know if it fell off or if someone stole it. I don’t know why someone would steal it, but my tire looks funny without it. Will you remind him?” she asked.
Grizz was staring out over the parking lot and driving slowly. He gassed it then took a quick right that was so sharp she grabbed her door handle.
“What the…?” she started to say.
“Looks like it might be the same year,” he said to himself as he pulled around another row and put the car in park. He reached into the consul and took out a screw driver. Before she could say anything he got out of the car and walked away.
She turned around in her seat to see what he was doing. He approached a car that looked similar to hers and disappeared. Before she knew what was happening he reappeared and jumped into the driver’s seat. He tossed the screw driver and newly acquired wheel cap into her lap and drove off.
She looked over at him as he stared at the road.
“Grizz, did you just steal this wheel cap from someone else’s car?” she asked as she moved her sunglasses to the top of her head.
He looked over at her. “Of course I did. Where do you think I got it from?”
“Why did you have to steal it? Axel could’ve gotten me one. I can’t believe you just stole it.”
He rolled his eyes and looked over at her.
“Kit, you were complaining that you needed one. I saw an opportunity to handle it and I did. Now you don’t have to remind Axel. What’s the big deal?”
“The big deal is that you stole it. I don’t know, Grizz. I don’t think I can drive my car knowing you stole the wheel cap. It would bother me.”
He looked at her then and she immediately knew what he was thinking. It showed on his face.
“Oh no. No way. Don’t even tell me my car is stolen. Don’t tell me that, Grizz.
“Then I won’t tell you,” he answered her matter of factly.
She crossed her arms over her chest and stared out over the dashboard, refusing to look at him. He glanced in her direction and saw that her face was turning red. She was mad. He loved when she got mad. Even if it was at him. He didn’t say anything and tried to hide his smile. He would never let Kit drive around in a stolen car, but he wouldn’t tell her that. He had made the purchase legitimately, but he had to admit, sometimes he liked riling her up.
Finally she blurted out, “I just don’t know who you think you are taking things that don’t belong to you. I mean really, Grizz. I suppose you think that whatever’s out there is yours for the taking.”
He didn’t answer her as he stared out over the steering wheel.
“Answer me. You think that you can just take whatever you want?”
He looked over at her and smiled. “I took you, Kitten.”

Grizz’s Playlist
I’ve been asked more than once if music was a big influence for me while writing Nine Minutes. The answer is “absolutely yes!”
The songs I’m listing here help me to find my way to a different time and place. They help me to get in the mindset to write about Grizz. Some just remind me of him (for one reason or another) and some I think he would’ve liked. And still others just take me back to those years.
My favorite Grizz song? The one I ALWAYS listen to when writing about Grizz…”Dreams I’ll Never See” by Molly Hatchett.
I have added a few since my post on FB. My readers came up with great songs that I had not thought of, but are perfect Grizz songs! You wanna feel Grizz? Just listen…
Dreams I’ll Never See-Molly Hatchett
Hush-Deep Purple
Smoke On The Water-Deep Purple
Tom Sawyer-Rush

Facebook Chat
I was honored to be a part of a facebook chat hosted by After Dark Book Lovers and in case you missed it, here’s what went down!
Q: Is the Chess Board/Game a metaphor?
Beth: Hmmm… are the characters playing chess or am I playing it with my readers? I’m still not sure!
Q: Beth, what made you write about Stockholm Syndrome? I’m very intrigued as part of my degree I researched this topic.
Beth: I actually didn’t start out to write about it. The story just naturally took that course and I went with it. Thank you for asking!
Q: Who or what influenced you to write this book?
Beth: I’ve had the story in my head for a very long time. I knew I wanted to write it. My daughter, Kelli, actually convinced me to as we discussed it a few years back
Q: How did you come up with the name Guinevere Love Lemon because it’s the best motherfucking name in the world.
Beth: The name truly just popped into my head. I had to come up with something completely different.
Q: Did you actually go Woodstock and meet Jimi Hendrix?
Beth: Never went to Woodstock but I would’ve loved to have been there that morning!
Q: Are any of the characters in Nine Minutes going to be in Out of Time?
Beth: Yes, main characters will be in OOT (some through flashback scenes) and I am introducing several new ones.
Q: Will Ginny and Grizz daughter ever find out about Grizz? And will she be in the Out of Time?
Beth: Mimi will find out and she is in OOT, but not big part of story. Considering doing something else with her – maybe spinoff book.
Q: And is Grizz actually dead?
Beth: You know I love you, Jodi, but can’t answer the Grizz question!
Q: Who is your favorite main character? Are you team Grizz or the new husband?
Beth: Ahhh…I’m not allowed to pick sides!
Q: Why did Kit tell Leslie about how she actually lose her virginity??? Who trusts a reporter? Kit knew she never wanted Grizz to find out the truth, so why risk him finding out by telling someone?
Beth: Excellent question, Dawn! Grunt actually asks her that in OOT. It will be answered and I think you’ll understand.
Q: Did Grunt know Grizz was his father??? If so, what part if any of his childhood was true?
Beth: His childhood was true – the players were different.
Q: We all love Grizz, but he is the very definition of a BAD BOY… probably even worse than a bad boy honestly lol… so how do you feel about a bad boy? Is your husband scandalous too?
Beth: Hubby is total alpha male. He was raised by NYC narcotics detective. However, he is not mean or murdering like Grizz. He would stick up for the underdog. Married 31 years and I could tell you some serious stories. But, we’ll save that for another time!
Q: how did you decide to make Grunt be the father to his own sister for like 10 years… I mean he is sleeping with his father’s wife, raising his sister like it’s his own… that’s so weird! What’s wrong with him! How can he be okay with that??
Beth: I threw that scene at the eleventh hour. Didn’t give it much thought. No deep thinking. Was probably watching a Dr. Phil or something at the time. I remember thinking “everybody is going to know Grizz is his father. What else would shock?” Did it? And he loved Ginny. He wanted to be with Ginny at any cost.
Q: Which one of your Characters dialogue do you enjoy writing the most?
Beth: Without a doubt, Grizz. I thought he had the best one-liners!
Q: Does Ginny know Grunt is Kevin’s father?
Beth: No.
Q: What inspired you to write such a beautiful story??
Beth: Tough question. I’ve had it in my head for years. But, I didn’t start writing it down until I was dealing with some dark things in my life (breast cancer, my nieces unexpected death,). I guess it’s obvious in some of the darker parts of the book that I was trying to get some things out.
Q: How many times did you cry or seriously walk away from a scene while writing this book?
Beth: I really had a difficult time with Moe’s death. I cried then and I cried when Grizz told Ginny (on the phone in prison) “I love you, Ginny. I’ll always love you.”
Q: But seriously which part of spring can we expect OoT?
Beth: Hoping for April-ish. If I can get it out sooner I will! Promise!
Q: Besides the three main characters, which one of the supporting characters is your favorite?
Beth: Moe
Q: How do you feel about all the popularity and notoriety this book has gotten lately? The craze came a while after you published it, do you know how it suddenly caught fire and what do you think about your success?
Beth: NEVER expected it! It has been quite overwhelming and honestly, I am not used to the attention. Everybody has been wonderful (well, not everybody), but I stay away from the mean people! And I’m not famous. Just wrote a little story that some amazing people decided they liked and shared. Thank you!
Q: It felt like a true story. .. was it based on one?
Beth: No, Not any that I know of. I made it up!
Q: Random non-book question, one of your pics has you with a motorcycle. Do you ride? Do you have friends in an MC?
Beth: The cover is my daughter, Kelli (say hello Kelli) and Grizz is a fitness trainer in Columbia, SC. His name is Chase. Great guy. Doesn’t really look like Grizz but was willing to help me out! Yes, we have a Harley. We ride!! Love it!!!!
