Why Memoir Writing is Like Peeling an Onion by Marilea Rabasa

Posted by Kathleen Pooler/@kathypooler with Marilea Rabasa/ @marilearabasa A memoir forces me to stop and remember carefully. It is an exercise in truth. In a memoir, I look at myself, my life, and the people I love the most in the mirror of the blank screen. In a memoir, feelings are more important than facts, […]

A New Chapter, 2020

“We may encounter many defeats but we must not be defeated”~Maya Angelou

Well, I started 2020 off with a bang–spending my New Years Eve in ICU with sepsis of unknown origin. I am writing this post from my ICU bed. Gratefully I am getting better each day but it will take a while to get back on track. I have to put all my energy into healing so I will need to be on hiatus at least through January.

I’m hoping for an uneventful year. One of my original goals was to stay out of the hospital but that hasn’t worked. So, I have no goals.

I do have a guest post scheduled: A WOW Blog Tour with Author Jackie Rod about her new book Georgia on My Mind on 1/20/20.

I hope you all had a great holiday season and I wish you all good things in 2020. Happy New Year!

I’ll be back as soon as I am able.

Christmas Blessings, 2019

Posted by Kathleen Pooler/@kathypooler

Christmas is the time of year to slow down–not get caught up in the frenzy of gift giving and impossible expectations, to get in touch of the real reason of the season, the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

This sure has been a challenging year in the Pooler household with medical setbacks and a major move to senior independent living. Thankfully, we’re nicely settled in our new home and are taking care of our medical issues.

Here are our greatest blessings. This picture was taken at our last family gathering at the farm, a bittersweet moment in time when we said farewell to our beloved farm:

Wayne, Kathy and the grands, 2019

From our home to yours, we wish you all the blessings of the season. Merry Christmas , Happy Hannakuh, Happy Kwanza!

l will resume blogging on January 6, 2020.
