First Kiss Friday with Lana Williams & a Giveaway!
Today on First Kiss Friday I’d like to welcome Lana Williams who will be sharing the first kiss scene from her latest release Ruby’s Gamble. Lana is also offering a giveaway so be sure to read all the way to the end and leave her a comment to be in the running. Good luck and happy reading!
Excerpt:
Someone struck Gideon in the head with a hammer. He was certain of it. The pounding refused to let him sleep. He opened his eyes slowly, aware of aches in other parts of his body as well.
What the hell had happened? A deep fog held his thoughts, not allowing him to think straight. Nor could he quite remember. Had he overindulged in drink? That seemed unlikely. His mind filled with vague memories of a crowded pub filled with unfamiliar and unfriendly faces.
Except for one.
A beautiful woman with a rose-colored shawl who’d watched him with wary interest. If the circumstances had been different–not that he could remember them–he would’ve approached her, talked to her, charmed her into smiling.
At the moment, lethargy filled him, and he couldn’t bring himself to care that he rested in a strange place. He turned his head only to have the hammer strike harder, causing him to groan.
“Hush,” a feminine voice whispered. A cool hand touched the side of his face gently as though to comfort him. “All is well,” the soft voice promised. “Go back to sleep.”
Groggily, he searched for the source of the voice in the dark room but could only make out the outline of a woman. “Where am I?”
“You’re safe and well cared for,” she whispered. “But you must return to sleep.”
For some odd reason, Gideon trusted her, though he couldn’t say why. His body relaxed and his eyes drifted closed. But curiosity as to the identity of his rescuer opened his eyes again. “Who are you?”
She drew even closer, and the sweet scent of gardenias enveloped him. “I’m here to watch over you. But you must rest.”
“Not until you give me a kiss.” The idea pleased him immensely. How clever of him to think of such a brilliant notion despite the murkiness in his mind.
The sweet voice chuckled softly, a note of unease in it. She was obviously surprised by his request. That made two of them.
“No kisses. Sleep.”
“One kiss,” he argued.
“Sleep.” Her fingers glided over his forehead to his temple and along his sore cheek, making him wince slightly. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt you.”
He reached for her hand and caught it, delighted at his small victory. Her skin felt delicate and soft except for a callus along one finger. He rubbed the spot, for the roughness made her feel real. Then he pulled her closer, hoping to see her features in the dark.
Clear thinking was impossible with the pounding in his head and the fog swallowing his thoughts, but he wanted to see her. Needed to see her. Couldn’t rest until he did.
Her features came into focus in the window’s dim light. Recognition came slowly just like his thoughts. “I know you.” But how or why he couldn’t say.
Her eyes widened in surprise. “Then you must know you’re safe, and that we mean you no harm.”
His mind turned that over, poking at it like a sore tooth, and found it felt true.
“Sleep now.” She tried to pull away, but he held tight.
“One kiss,” he whispered. “Then I shall sleep again.”
Her hand tensed and tried to pull away once more, but he resisted.
“Very well. If you promise to rest.”
He would’ve nodded in agreement, but his head hurt too much. He waited, rewarded when she leaned close and pressed a gentle kiss on his cheek.
“No, not there,” he said, certain she’d purposely misinterpreted his request. He wasn’t so dull-witted as to permit that.
“Where then?” she asked, her voice breathless in the quiet.
With her hand still held prisoner in his, he reached up and tapped a finger to his lips. “Here. That’s where kisses go.”
“Very well.” Her whisper held disapproval, but she leaned close and warm lips pressed his for a long moment.
A mix of tenderness and longing calmed his pounding head, and he wanted to savor the kiss as he knew it was special. Kisses from angels always were.
Then the mist returned to claim him.

Medieval Monday with Jenna Jaxon
It’s week nine of our first encounter theme for Medieval Monday and this week’s guest is Jenna Jaxon with an excerpt from Time Enough To Love. Isn’t this cover just gorgeous? So swoon worthy!. Happy reading and enjoy, my lovelies!
Excerpt:
His self-satisfied tone and the thought of his outrageous teasing touched a contrary nerve in Alyse. She pulled her wits together and beamed brilliantly at her newly-betrothed lord. “Take care, my lord, for the wise women say, ‘Marry in haste, repent at leisure.’”
Sir Geoffrey raised a dark eyebrow while those around the banquet hall laughed. Heart pounding at her audacity, Alyse watched helplessly as he reached over and lifted her hand. “Such repentance could never be suffered too slowly, my lady, if ’twere your gentle hand that held mine through it.”
Laughter and applause washed over Alyse, who was struck absolutely dumb at the touch of his lips to her skin. Her heart pounded, and a strange roaring sounded in her ears; she wondered vaguely if she were about to faint.
Time Enough To Love
When Lady Alyse de Courcy is betrothed to Sir Geoffrey Longford, she has no choice but to make the best of a bad bargain. The hulking knight is far from her ideal man, and although he does possess some wit and charm, he is no match for the sinfully sensual man she secretly admires, Thomas, Earl of Braeton, her betrothed’s best friend.
From the first, Sir Geoffrey finds himself smitten by Lady Alyse, and, despite her infatuation with his friend, vows to win her love. When Geoffrey puts his mind to wooing Alyse, he is delighted to find her succumbing to his seduction. But when cruel circumstances separate them, Geoffrey must watch helplessly as Thomas steps in to protect Alyse—and falls in love with her himself.
As the three courtiers accompany Princess Joanna to her wedding in Spain, they run headlong into the Black Plague. With her world plunged into chaos, Alyse struggles with her feelings for both the men she loves. But which love will survive?

First Kiss Friday with To Love A Scottish Laird
There’s nothing better than a First Kiss Friday unless its a First Kiss Friday with a new release! Today I’m featuring your’s truly with an excerpt from To Love A Scottish Laird that released yesterday. A prequel to If My Heart Could See You, I just know you’re going to enjoy Catherine and Douglas’s journey to finding love. Be sure to read all the way to the end to see what I have on sale through the weekend. Happy reading and enjoy, my lovelies!
Excerpt:
Catherine fought against the urge to completely surrender to Douglas and his all-consuming kiss. She should not be allowing him such a liberty. She should be voicing her outrage at the close proximity of their bodies. But when his lips slid against hers, she was completely lost.
If only Douglas knew what he was doing to her. She was not experienced with the intimacies between a man and woman. Oh, she understood the fundamentals of the act of kissing but had only been given meaningless pecks on the cheek. But this… A whole new world opened up to her, and she rejoiced in what Douglas brought out in her!
Her arms wound their way up his neck, and she played with the length of his hair. In turn, he all but crushed her to his body but ’twas not unpleasant. Nay! Her body begged for something she could not understand. Parts of her began tingling as if she was coming alive for the very first time, and she never wanted it to end.
When Douglas’s tongue skimmed across her closed mouth, she gasped. Apparently, ’twas just the opportunity he was looking for! His tongue began playing with her own. A low moan escaped her and only encouraged him to take her deeper into what could only be described as sheer bliss. Catherine felt as though she was soaring into the sky like one of her birds. But this was so much better!
His arm tightened around her waist, and she finally became aware of the unmistakable form of his manhood pressed intimately to her body. By the Blessed Virgin! What was she doing?
Catherine emerged from the abyss of pleasure, snapping back to a reality that would possibly become her worst nightmare; wed to a man who would probably control her every move. Douglas was a complete stranger, no matter how handsome. She was concerned about losing the freedom she had grown accustomed to.
He must have sensed some change in her, for his grip loosened as he broke the kiss. Catherine felt the loss immediately and almost stepped forward for them to continue. Her heart felt as though ’twould beat its way out of her chest, and she was pleasantly surprised when it appeared Douglas felt the same. Their kiss had revealed many things to Catherine. First, Douglas certainly knew what he was doing when it came to kissing. Second, she began to think mayhap ’twould not be so difficult to be this man’s wife.

Happy release day ~ To Love A Scottish Laird!
To Love A Scottish Laird by Sherry Ewing
It’s always a happy day when another book baby is released out into the world and I’m thrilled to announce that To Love A Scottish Laird is live! For the past few years, I’ve had readers contact me asking if I would ever write the story for the parents of Amiria of Clan MacLaren from If My Heart Could See You. So when the fabulous Kathryn Le Veque contacted me and asked if I would be interested in writing a novella for her De Wolfe Pack World, I had to jump at the chance.
I must admit when I saw this cover I almost swooned! No changes were necessary and I give credit to Kim Killion who designed it. The colors just pop and I loved it the moment I saw it!
So I let me introduce you to Lady Catherine de Wolfe and Laird Douglas of Clan MacLaren and Berwyck Castle. I just know you’re going to love their journey to finding love!

“Praise Mother Danu.” The lass moved away from Desmond, and knelt on one knee in front of Alastair. “Please forgive me. We did not ken whom we could trust. My name is Ailsa MacDuff. We require your assistance.”
Alastair released his hold on the druid. “Please dinnae pay homage to me.” He reached down and helped her to stand.
“Ye are honored on our island,” stated Ailsa. She waved her hand toward the druid. “This is Tam.”
The druid nodded. “How blessed we are to have a Dragon Knight and his guard come to our aid.” He looked at Ailsa. “This Dragon Knight has the power of the land.”
Desmond snorted in disgust. “I am not his guard.”
Alastair’s mouth twitched in humor. “I am married to his sister.”

Medieval Monday with Ashley York
Welcome to another Medieval Monday, my lovelies. This week it’s my pleasure to welcome back Ashley York who has her next snippet from Curse of the Healer. Enjoy and happy reading!
Excerpt:
She looked about her, trying to remember. “I’m… gathering herbs.”
The scents around her were overwhelming and she closed her eyes again, breathing it all in. The dampness of the soil. The honeysuckles behind her. The leather of the belt wrapped around the man’s middle.
When she opened her eyes, he was watching her. Intently. She swallowed more of the refreshing liquid.
“Gathering herbs so late at night?” He glanced around them before turning back to meet her gaze. “That cannot be a simple job. ’Tis quite dark out here.”
“Mmm. Dark.” Heat pooled in her belly.
The slightest flick of his brow and the trace of a smile as he dragged his thumb along his lower lip. A speculative gesture. His gaze traveled lower.
Curse of the Healer
After the death of Brian Boru in 1014, a legend arose of a healer so great she could raise a man from the dead, with a power so strong it could make any warrior the next high king of Éire…and to steal it away from her, he need only possess her.
Fated to be a healer…
Aednat has spent her entire life training to be the great healer, knowing she must remain alone. When she meets Diarmuid, the intense attraction she feels toward him shakes her resolve to believe in such a legend. If she gives in to the passion he ignites in her, can she settle for being less?
Destined to be his…
Diarmuid of Clonascra is renowned for his bravery in battle. Only one thing daunts him: the prospect of taking a wife. The safest course would be to keep his distance from Aednat, the bold, headstrong healer who’s far too tempting for his peace of mind. But his overking orders him to protect her from a group of craven warriors intent on kidnapping her to steal her power.
What starts as duty for Diarmuid quickly transforms into something more. Aednat’s power might be at risk, but so is his closed-off heart.

First Kiss Friday with guest R.L. Merrill
Welcome to another First Kiss Friday. Today’s guest is my dear friend R.L. Merrill who will be giving you some info on her trilogy and, of course, an excerpt. Take it away, Ro!
Thank you, Sherry, for having me on your blog today. We’re going to go back in time a little…This week is the 4th birthday of my novel Teacher. The characters in this trilogy have been so near and dear to me, as well as my readers, that I was tickled to bring them back in my new series from Dreamspinner Press, the Forces of Nature Series. In the first book, Hurricane Reese, Jesse is mentioned in the epilogue as the choreographer for Reese and Toby’s new musical, and then in book two, Typhoon Toby, Jesse and Danny end up playing peace-and-matchmakers. Today, however, I’m taking you back to book one and this adorable couple’s first kiss. It happens quite late in the book due to a series of complications: Jesse is Danny’s home instructor. He hires her to help him earn his high school diploma as he recovers from vocal cord surgery which could have potentially destroyed his music career. For two-thirds of the book, he can’t speak, forcing them to use texts, notes, and whispers in order to communicate. It’s enough because these two fall madly in love despite some pretty heavy obstacles. They’ve had a couple of falling outs by this point and in this scene, she’s coming over to work with him but she’s no longer able or willing to hide her feelings for him.
Excerpt:
I made myself get in the car and drive, telling myself I could do this a hundred times before pulling up at his curb. I got out slowly and trudged up the driveway. Nora opened the door and squealed.
“Jesse! You were beautiful last night! Connie and I saw the show! I am so proud of you. You got skills, baby!” She hugged me and it brought a faint smile to my lips.
“I’m glad you guys got to see the show. Weren’t the kids great?”
She stopped smiling and said, “Yeah, the show was fantastic.”
She frowned. “You ok?”
I choked back a sob and looked back at my car. “Nora, I don’t think I can do this today. Can you please tell Danny that I’ll come tomorrow? I can’t—”
Danny flung the door open, took one look at me then picked me up and carried me inside. I tucked my head into his shoulder and cried my heart out. He brought me into the library and sat me on the couch, kneeling next to me on the floor.
“I’m sorry, Danny, but I can’t do this anymore. I can’t keep coming over here and pretending I am just doing a job with you. I promise I’ll find a replacement to get you through the rest of your credits and I’ll pay you back the money. I just can’t do this anymore. I quit.”
Danny took my hands in his and whispered, “Good.”
Startled, I looked up at him. “What do you mean, ‘good’?”
A smile formed on his lips. He cleared his throat and spoke in a deep, raspy voice, “Good. I’m glad you won’t pretend anymore.”
I pulled my hands from his frantically and put them over his mouth. “What are you doing?! You’re not supposed to be talking!”
He took my hands in his again and held them to his chest. That deliciously deep voice said, “The doctor cleared me Friday. I’ve been waiting to have you alone to tell you.”
My eyes locked on his and his smile just about knocked me out. I reached out and touched his throat and giggled. “It’s not how I thought you’d sound,” I whispered and he took my hands in his again.
“Jesse, I wanted to wait until I could speak to tell you…I love you. I love you so goddamned much that I don’t want to stop saying it. I want you to quit. I don’t want you to be my teacher anymore. I want you to be mine.”
My hand clutched my chest to keep my heart from falling out on the floor. It was pounding so hard I thought I would burst. “But what about your diploma? You have to finish!”
“I will finish, but not with you as my teacher. You’re mean anyway.”
I gasped at him in shock and moved to smack him, but he grabbed my hand, placing it on his chest over his heart.
“Didn’t you hear the first part? I love you, Jesse! I’ve loved you since that first weekend when you fell into my arms in that very doorway. Or maybe it was that night you didn’t back off when I challenged you at the restaurant. I haven’t decided but the point is, I fucking love you.”
I smirked, sniffled, and took a deep breath. “Well, since you put it that way, I fucking love you too, Danny Black.”
He exhaled a relieved breath and pressed his forehead against mine. It felt so good to tell him, to remove the weight from my chest. Instantly I felt like I could breathe better.
“I am so goddamn glad you said that. I’m going to kiss you now. I’ve waited too goddamned long to kiss you.”
And then his lips were on me, his mouth was on me, and his hands were everywhere. I grasped the sides of his face and kissed him back with the same intensity. He tasted so good and he was so insistent that we were almost fighting each other trying to get closer. We pulled back laughing and he kissed me gently on the lips.
“Wow,” was all I could say. I’d had dreams about kissing Danny, but they didn’t compare to the real thing. His desire for me was barely contained. I could feel his muscles tensing under my hands as I ran them over his shoulders and back.
“Danny, are you sure about this?”
“We’ll figure it out. I’m not stopping my work.” His eyes were serious and I was relieved he wasn’t giving up on his goal. I figured we should make a plan.
“I think we should go see my boss tomorrow and tell her what’s going on. We’ll take her all you’ve done so she can evaluate it and maybe she can help us find another teacher to oversee your grades. I’ll still help you, but I won’t sign off on your grades.”
His eyes searched mine, thinking about what I proposed. “I like it. Now we need to go tell the Warden because I’m not taking my hands off of you for the foreseeable future.”

Medieval Monday with Barbara Bettis
Welcome to another Medieval Monday. It’s my pleasure to welcome back Barbara Bettis who has her next snippet from The Lady of the Forest. Happy reading, my lovelies!
Excerpt:
Kate shoved the pallet against the wall and gave it one last test. The flat, wooden base seemed solid, placed atop three barrels. The raised surface made easier access to the prisoner.
Jamie ducked into the hut, dragging the door open. Behind the boy came Oscar and Sam’l, bearing the unconscious knight.
“Please remove his chain mail, then put him there.” She nodded toward the makeshift bed.
The two dropped him on the floor.
