Dreams can be horrifying sometimes, that you wish it would never be true. However, all people dream. When your dream looks so good and you wish you would never wake up, you just feel like you cannot make it stay. They always come as a story that happens in your head and is probably stuck in your mind.
Dreams can be inspiring as they show you what is deep down, there, inside your mind. The stories that are more creative than the ones you try to come up when conscious. When you are hungry, you think of what you are going to eat. You think of food that will make you full, while some other people also think of food that will help them live up to others’ expectations. This might sound ridiculous but you might have to ask yourself that how many times you take your phone out of you bag to take a picture of the food in front of you, and then post it online. Eating in a luxurious restaurant or having people giving you a great service while you are busy chatting and sharing your life to the world might make you feel special but sometimes, you just forget those people in front of you, people who are there for you.
These days, many people work so hard to earn what they think could fulfill their life which is always money. They think that money could buy things that would make them or their family feel happy. They spend money on their new phone, tablet, or nice bag, and hope that those things will make them feel like they belong to the society they live in. What about time to actually spend the money they earn with the people they love? Every day, people walk out from their house, say goodbye to their family…and hope for a better life. At the end of the day, they come back home and the first thing they do is to be online updating their life and learning what is going on in other people’s life.
This world has become globalized. Some people feel like they know everything, have friends from around the world, or even are famous. However, the world they see is just the first page of a book that they buy with their own money. Some people forget what happiness really is. They miss the communication, affection, and tiny valuable things around them.
Ask yourself a lot every day of how you feel and why you want what you are trying to get….Is it really what you want or what the society wants? Anthony Robbins, an entrepreneur, author, and peak performance strategist, wrote in an article on his blog that “Clarifying your results (or outcome) helps you focus on your desired target.” No matter if it is a small target or big one, seeing it clearly in your mind increases your eagerness to find the ways to make it real.
Even though this might be just a small and not very difficult goal, it can show how a clear and specific goal setting can greatly help you come up with good plans and most importantly the motivation to keep on going until it is done.
The decision to set a goal results from dissatisfaction with current performance levels. People need to set goals in order to manage their time well to be successful in life.
Setting a goal should include setting a structure that directs actions and behaviors which improve the unsatisfactory performance. Also, setting a goal will change a person’s behavior in order to work towards achieving the set goal. For example, Locke and Latham stated that “the goal setting theory was based on the premise that much human action is purposeful, in that it is directed by conscious goals”.
However, before setting a goal there are necessary conditions that must be met to make goals effectively: (1) goal acceptance (2) goal specificity and purpose (3) goal difficulty, (4) goal possibility and (5) goal feedback. Moreover, to be successful in the future people have to set crisp, clear and specific goals by using the theory of ‘SMART goals’. The idea of setting SMART goal was conceived by a business psychologist named George Doran. SMART is an acronym standing for goals that are:
- Specific
- Measurable
- Achievable
- Relevant
- Time-bound
In conclusion, goals can provide directions and are good for planning progress. This helps the people to be able managing their actions step-by-step to reach their goals which will help them to be successful not only in occupations or studies but also in relationships.
