Mute King - Revision 1. Plus next segment.
I was born mute. A side effect. I have known about the genetic modification to my brain for far longer than I believe anyone is aware. The implants in my frontal cortex have allowed me to gain and retain knowledge from the age I could start understanding my parents. Instruments were play things for me. Piano, mastered. Violin, mastered. Cello, mastered. Half-harp, mastered. All before I was four.
'He's brilliant' 'A prodigy!' 'The boy is remarkable' They would all say. Yes. I am. But I am so m...

A Muted King. Very early rough draft.
I started this off of a writing prompt. I haven't done any revisions yet, so this is just straight writing, not much thought. I'm figuring out where the plot goes, I think it could be pretty interesting. Hope you enjoy.

Lightning bolt jackets and high heels
Before I get into this, I just want to state that I might sound like a dick - but I mean well. This is purely just fun, and I sincerely don't want anyone's feelings hurt with anything I happen to say. Though I do operate under the guidelines of, if your feelings do get hurt, I don't really care.
I went out the other night with a lovely girl to a concert at Urban Lounge. I haven't been to Urban lounge in a hot minute, but have had good experiences there. They have great drinks, great sound syst...

The Stormlight Archive: Book 2. Words of Radiance ; a review
Spoilers ahead..
This book is insanely difficult for me to even wrap my head around enough to review. It's massive. We're talking an 1100 page massive hardcover book. I had more people comment on the size of the book as I was carrying it around than I ever have had before. It's not just a large book to lug around either, this book has a lot going on within. The story progresses and moves along tremendously well. For the past few days I've just been thinking about it. My head has been trapped i...

The Stormlight Archive: Book 1. The Way of Kings ; a review
Hot damn.
Lyrics come to my mind first, and they'reHello, is it me you're looking for?The answer is a resounding yes. This is the book you are looking for. Brandon Sanderson, you are an absolute genius.

Roshar, a fantasy world where war is being waged it seems, everywhere. Ancient cities built by gods. Betrayal from the men who were cast to protect everyone. Six foot swords, impenetrable plate armor, magic, love, and lore. The child in me wants to scream and run around the room. The adult in...

To be an eye on the wall
I first met Daniel Overstreet after I had a grueling week of work in cold to your bones weather, the kind of cold where being close to the fire doesn't even really help that much. Sarah told me our new neighbor moved in, and that he had two kids who will be over a couple times a month. I remember he looked (still looks) younger than me, smiling,Hey, I'm Daniel. I can't fathom I gave off good vibes from the first encounter after the week I had, but I enjoyed our conversions from the get go.
Fas...

A month in the life
I've been planning on moving to Portland Oregon for a while. Most people who know me know that it has been in my plans. There are a few reasons for this, the main one is obvious, Portland is a fun city, there's a lot going on and it's my kind of scene of fun loving, out doorsie without a weird,I'm better than youvibe that I get from a lot of those people here in Salt Lake. One of my best friends lives there, and his fiance and friends are fantastic, amazing people. I miss hanging out with him...

Infinite Jest ; a review

Philosophy, Fiction, Book shelves and old tables. These are a few of my favorite things.
Wow.
I finished this last night, at 3:33am (that's a number that hits me in life a lot)
There were times where I did not think I would get through this book. There were times where I was so frustrated the begging question was, why the fuck am I still reading this book?
To answer my own question, I continued reading entirely because of how fucking good of a writer David Foster Wallace is. I found myself cont...

New short published
I'm about to publish what I feel is my best story to date. I'm excited with the way it turned out. I'll give a little preview of the story on here and a link to the story as soon as it's online.
Ideally, I'd like to move away from Amazon, and start self-publishing. It's expensive, but I think it would be rewarding to setup.
As always, thanks for the support. Here's the preview:
