One Day You'll Leave Me

I'm curious to see if anyone ever figures out the secret to the book.

Lots of hints, lots of Easter eggs.

Even on the cover.

Oooh. Mysterious.

Happy reading and have a great day!

Datgum Freeloaders

I knew I was right!

I just read a small article on cats.

Did you know they're the smartest animals in the world?

It's a fact.
(because I said so)

The article explains how tests were conducted on several animals (I'm going to go ahead and assume every single animal on the planet. Even amoebas. And I'm also going to assume amoebas are animals.) and found that animals would rather work for food if given a choice (and if the food choices were of the same tastiness).
So long as it wasn't anything too strenuous. I don't think seals would, like, build you a garage for a fishhead or anything like that but it might pull a lever or tip over a bucket or something of that nature.

Every single animal.
Yeah.

Except one.

The common (freeloading) housecat.

As I'm typing this, my fat cat is sitting on my lap, eyes closed, tummy full of free food that he did nothing to earn.

I would do an experiment to see if he would actually be willing to work for his food but I really don't want to be laughed at.
Because I think a laughing cat would look demonic.

you wouldn't want to be stuck with me on a glacier

I've just finished reading Frozen in Time: An Epic Story of Survival and a Modern Quest for Lost Heroes of World War II and it was fantastic.

I marveled at the bravery of those who selflessly volunteered to try and save strangers and who risked their lives no matter the dangerous conditions and the warnings that they may not come back if they attempted a rescue. They were simply amazing.

And the men who survived for weeks, and some for months, in below freezing temperatures with gangrene, broken bones, frostbite...well, hats off to them too.

I doubt very seriously I'd have lasted more than three days, either because I would have frozen to death, succumbed to my injuries, or the other survivors would have thrown me into a crevasse when they found out I had hoarded all the provisions. That would be first on my list: grab everything you can and stick it down your pants. That would be me. Like that man hiding out with Anne Frank, the one who stole the potatoes.

roadrunner

I think there was a roadrunner in my front yard this morning. But as I've only ever seen a roadrunner being chased by a coyote with ACME dynamite in his hands, I can't really be sure. Plus he didn't say "meep meep" so I'm a little suspicious that it might have been another type of bird.
