Vəkilov Vaqif Səməd oğlu (Vaqif Səmədoğlu) — şair, dramaturq, publisist, 1970-ci ildən Azərbaycan Yazıçılar Birliyinin üzvü, Əməkdar incəsənət xadimi (1989), Azərbaycanın xalq şairi (1999), Azərbaycan Respublikası Milli Məclisinin deputatı (2000, 2005), "Nəsimi" mükafatı laureatı (2014).
Vaqif Səmədoğlu 1939-cu il iyunun 5-də Bakı şəhərində, məşhur Azərbaycan şairi Səməd Vurğunun ailəsində anadan olmuşdur. Bülbül adına musiqi məktəbində, Üzeyir Hacıbəyov adına Azərbaycan Dövlət Konservatoriyasında təhsil almışdır. Azərbaycan Sovet Ensiklopediyası Baş redaksiyasında incəsənət redaksiyasının müdiri (1968-1971), "Oğuz eli" qəzetinin baş redaktoru (1992-1994) vəzifələrində çalışmışdır.
