Julio Anguita



Julio Anguita was born in the Brick City (Iron Bound Section) of Newark, NJ, in 1974. Anguita, who is of Puerto Rican descent, is a self-taught writer, artist, philosopher, and public speaker. He was initiated as a high priest in the Afro/Cuban religion of Nganga, which is known throughout the United States and Caribbean as Palo Mayombe, as well as an initiated member of the Freemasons.

Julio continues to give back to his community by performing in local poetry venues where he fuses his Afro/Cuban way of life into his own unique style of performance poetry.
