Kelly Charron

In this next installment of authors from Mickey's list we have Kelly Charron. Kelly is the author of YA and adult horror, psychological thrillers and urban fantasy novels. All with gritty, murderous inclinations and some moderate amounts of humor. She spends far too much time consuming true crime television (and chocolate) while trying to decide if yes, it was the husband, with the wrench, in the library. Kelly has a degree in English Literature as well as a Social Work degree. She has worked as a hairstylist, youth outreach worker and education assistant. She lives with her husband and cat, Moo Moo, in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Hi Kelly, how are you today? Tell us about yourself.

Hello, I’m doing great today, busy as usual! My name is Kelly Charron and I am a thriller and urban fantasy author for teens and adults. I love all things dark and spooky. Halloween is my favorite holiday and it’s pretty difficult to scare me, though I love it! I have worked as a hairstylist and social worker (more similar that you’d think) and currently work as an education assistant with elementary school children.

What is the current book you are promoting?

I’m currently promoting the second book in my Pretty Wicked Series, WICKED FALLOUT. It is a psychological thriller that follows the main character, a twenty-seven-year-old woman named Ryann Wilkanson, who is in a maximum-security prison for claiming multiple victims when she was just fifteen years old in her attempt to become a serial killer. Wicked Fallout puts you in Ryann’s head once again but also features the point of view of a forensic psychiatrist named Dr. Nancy Clafin, who is given the arduous task of assessing Ryann when new evidence comes to light that may allow Ryann a commuted sentence.

That sounds very 'Criminal Minds' like. Who is your favorite character(s) in your book and why?

Ryann because she is so fun to write but also to read. When I reread some of her scenes I chuckle at how positively snarky and evil she is. I love villains, so writing a whole book from the villain’s point of view was extremely satisfying. Ryann is a fresh voice with a compelling and unique perspective on life, people and the world. We know why heroes do many of the things they do, what is lesser known is the complex motivations behind a villain. I was interested in exploring the psychology, motivation, and emotion (or lack thereof) of a psychopath/sociopath in a way that we often don’t get in storytelling. If we get inside the villain’s head, it is often short lived or superficial, so I wanted to develop a villainous character where the reader could be fully immersed inside their psyche for a whole new experience. She also employs quite a bit of snarkiness, sarcasm and wit, which allows for a rather dark character to also have lighter moments.

Ok actually, hearing that, I think you should watch the youtube show "Murder with Friends". You'd love Grace. What inspired this book?

I’ve always been fascinated with serial killers and what caused these people to turn out so evil. I wondered who would be the most unlikely, undetectable person I could realistically put in this role. A 15-year-old cute, blonde, female cheerleader seemed like a natural fit. Then I wondered how she would balance her normal teenage life with cheerleading practice, parties, dances and friends all while plotting and getting away with murder.

Tell us about your world in your book.

I created a fictionalized town in Colorado called Dungrave. It’s a small, gossipy town where my main character, Ryann Wilkanson, feels extremely stifled and suffocated in her pursuit to be a killer. I wanted to create a town instead of using an existing place because I didn’t want to be tied down with details, for example if there really is a Walmart on a certain road. This way I had full creative freedom that wasn’t interrupted with extraneous research that didn’t enhance the story.

What is your next project?

It’s in such an early stage that I can’t say too much. It centers around three women who have been friends since they were young. One of them is engaged and the three spend a night celebrating an intimate bachelorette party at a local pub. They split up, but two of them get a phone call the next morning from the fiancé saying that their friend never made it home. Her purse and keys are found on her front lawn, proof that she made it back, just never inside. It’s far more than a kidnapping story. I don’t want to give away the twists and turns (of which there are many) but there’s quite a bit of drama between the friends left behind. I’m exploring the idea of how well you really know the people in your life, including what they are actually capable of doing under the right, or wrong, circumstances.

You're going to make me paranoid about my friends with a story like that. You sound like a plotter but I will ask, do you think you are a pantser or a plotter or both?

Both, but mostly pantser. I tend to plot out what main events will occur and free write between them to link the scenes. I can’t plot out in too much detail because I find it boring to write. I love discovery writing and seeing where the characters want to take me. It’s fun to be surprised when I write something I wasn’t expecting. For series, I do find it important to plot out major arcs for both individual books and the overall series so I (hopefully) won’t write myself into a corner. I also write linearly—writing scenes out of order seems wrong to me LOL. I never know how an intended scene might change, so I don’t want to write ahead and have to chuck it because it no longer fits.

Who/what inspires your writing?

Inspiration for my stories often comes from television and movies. I’m a very visual person and seeing the way story unfolds onscreen (the lighting, sounds, setting, angles, framing etc…) create a mood which often draws me so completely in that I want to create a similar feeling in a story. I love being scared and watching thrillers and horror, so I naturally want to evoke that same sense of fear and dread with words. I also often watch true crime television and documentaries which always get me analyzing and breaking apart the various aspects of cases. Why a particular victim was chosen? How the killer started down that road—what was childhood like/what are their defining characteristics and personality traits/who were they pretending to be versus who they really were? Even to dissecting why a detective chose that line of work. I’m always studying why people do the things they do and I find it especially compelling if they do something quite differently than the rest of society would expect or relate to, so I take those initial seeds and play with it, often with a lot of “what if” questions and scenarios, and come up with plot ideas.

Reviews and Interviews

In case you haven't guessed yet, I love finding new indie authors. I read approximately 5 books a week so I am always looking for new authors to read. I've already read most of the books from the authors I know and trust. And then I bumped into this fun and interesting guy. Mickey. My indie friends had talked about him, too so I knew that not only was he legit but he represented some serious talents. When we talked and he offered to let me not only read and review their books but to also get to interview the authors of course I said yes. I haven't regretted it one iota.

So for the next few months I am going to be reviewing and interviewing the people he represents. While poking at my other author friends to hurry up and finish their books so I can read those too. (There are some great new books coming out in the next year and I am super excited about those too.)

And of course all of you can follow along as I not only read entire series, but now I am going to read through a publicist's entire line up. Wheeeeeeeeee!

Katherine Dell

Hello, how are you today? Tell us about yourself.

Hi Rebekah. Thank so much for having me on your blog! I’m very excited to share my experiences and new book with you and your readers.

I guess I’ll start with telling you all a bit about myself and what I write. Currently, I’m a stay at home mom of two energetic boys, a German pointer puppy, and a cat with too much attitude. I live with my kids, critters, and husband, in the full-of-life city of Calgary AB, Canada.

With the help of my publicist, Mickey Mikkelson, I’m launching my first book, Harmless, September 12th; an event to be held at the Owl’s Nest in Calgary. It’s been quite the journey to get this far and I can’t wait to see what the next few months hold.

So, I mentioned my book… Let me tell you a bit about it. I think my back cover synopsis explains it best.

HARMLESS
YA, Paranormal, Thriller
Be careful what you wish for.
After moving from Vancouver to isolated Hazelton, BC, high school senior Rachel Barnes hopes she’ll finally find closure and a sense of direction after tragedy has torn her family apart. When she and her friends discover the old spirit box her grandmother gave her, they see it as a chance to wish their troubles away. But the Great Spirits—deer, crow, bear, and the mythical wendigo—give away nothing for free.
So instead of worrying about fitting in and finding a boyfriend, Rachel finds herself in a race to control the malevolent spirit who’s taken up residence in Mason Allen, who she fears and craves in equal measure. What began as a harmless game forces Rachel to confront her past—and offers her a future she never imagined.

Step into a reality that is not as it seems in Book 1 of the Harmless series.

I have never seen a deer that looked so mystical and threatening. That’s an amazing cover. Can you tell us what inspired this book?

The inspiration, or more so, idea, came from a spark about writing a book about a box that grants wishes. Now, that idea is very plain and I have obviously built on it a lot. The inspiration for growing this idea came from my love of reading.

My favorite thing, as a reader is finding the little moments and details in a story that make that piece of fiction into something almost real. I tried very hard to tell the little stories within the story in this book; to make Harmless something––believable.
The spirit box, in Harmless, contains four spirit animals; a bear, deer, crow, and wendigo. Each white except for the last. I thought to myself, where could a fabled box like this exist? Was there a legend? Are there any place in this world that have populations of these animals? YES! Hazelton BC! Where the story is set.
In the area surrounding Hazelton, there are populations of Kermode bears (spirit bears). There, they number more than any other place in the world. Kermode bears are black bears born white and in some indigenous cultures are fabled to bring omens. I felt this town was the perfect setting to make my bit of fiction a little more real.

After that explanation I'm sure I know this answer but I will ask anyway to be sure. Are you a pantser or a plotter or both?

Both. I try very hard to be a plotter, but sometimes an idea comes to me and I just have to go with it. I think my tendency to lean towards pantser is what makes my stories pleasantly unpredictable.

Writing like that, I know, make it unpredictable for the author too. You learn about your story as it comes out, and not before. What is one life lesson you have learned as an author?

Being an author is like owning your own business. You make the product, market it, promote it, and hopefully sell a ton of it. I’ve also learned that it’s all in the details. You have to take the time to understand every aspect of what you are undertaking if you want to succeed.

What is your favorite genre to read?

I love Young Adult books! I know, some people will argue that YA is more of a style then a genre, but that’s what I like to read. What do I like about YA? The pacing of the story; it’s fast and ever changing. The characters; they are going through firsts and big changes. And most often, YA is written in first person, which gives the reader a sense of closeness to the story.
I will read almost anything that’s considered YA.

Well thank you for this look into your journey as an author. Is there anything you want to say to your fans?

I’m working hard to get book two of the Harmless series out by next year. So hang in there! You’ll soon be able read what happens next with Rachel, Mason, and Nate.

Thanks for answering my questions, Katherine. I hope your debut goes smashingly well, but I won't make a wish about it. I hear wishes can get tricky.

Once again, thank for having me Rebekah. Happy reading and writing everyone!
Katherine

And how could we not like an author with a kickass profile pic like this one?

I am now really looking forward to reading her novel, Harmless and will post a review of that once I am done. If anyone wants to follow Katherine so you can keep an eye out for the second novel in her series you can find her on these platforms.

Heidi Angell

Not that kind of angel
If you guys know anything about me, or follow me on Facebook, you know I love Heidi-kith. She is one of my favorite people, favorite author, and just like Joe Compton she is a force of good in the indie author realm. So it is with great pleasure that I welcome her here today! Hello Heidi, how are you today? Tell my followers about yourself.
Hello Rebekah, thank you so much for having me. I am a bibliophile, lexicomaniac, and wordsmith. In other words, I am addicted to books, reading them, writing them, seeing them. I am the author of The Hell School Series, The Hunters Saga, and The Clear Angel Chronicles, which I am actually here to talk to you about today! I have a small addiction to social media, and you can find the link to everything in my life including signing up for my e-newsletter http://bit.ly/2hHAEUh, or joining my Patreon https://www.patreon.com/HeidiAngell , on my website www.heidiangell.com

What is the current book you are promoting?
I am promoting the re-release of Elements of a Broken Mind, the first book in the Clear Angel Chronicles. We are re-releasing the first two books in preparation for the third book coming out in early 2018.

That would be this new cover, which I love. And of course I also love this book. Remember folks, have your tissues ready at 46% of the way through.

Who is your favorite character in your book and why?
Ah, so hard! I love them all. But if I had to pick just one? I would have to say, Dr. Anne Hutchins. She’s such a mom and as a mom, I totally relate.

Who is your least favorite character and why?
Dang, I wasn’t expecting such hard questions right out the gate! Um... Deputy Dip Shit, Er, I mean, Deputy Long. He’s the kind of small-town cop everyone loves to hate.

Yeah I know just who you are talking about. I found myself hoping he got his comeuppance too. What inspired this book?
A dream, actually. The whole book was a dream I had one night after binge watching Ghost Whisperer with my mom. Then the story just kept growing and here we are working on the third book!

What is your next project?
Only one? Lol. I am working on releasing a serialized apocalyptic story which my patreon supporters get a chapter a week and then I release the novella on Amazon. Eventually it will all be compiled into one giant journal for physical distribution. It’s pretty cool.

And of course there is the new show you are doing with one of your biggest fans, me. Where we totally geek out on things. Who is your favorite fictional character and why?
Of all of them? I can’t pick just one. But my favorite fictional character trope are the kick ass girls like Hermione from HP, Riatha of Eye of the Hunter, and my own Fury from The Hunters Saga. I am a big fan of no-nonsense get it done gals.

Are you a pantser or a plotter or both?
Um, I always know the beginning, middle, and end of each story. Sometimes that’s as far as I get to plotting, and often it isn’t written down, so kind of a pantser?

That's how I write too so I totally get that. How do you write your books?
I am a beginning to end kind of person. I write it like I would want to read it.

I like asking that question because the way people answer it reveals so much to me about how they think. Who inspires your writing?
All the amazing authors I read all the time. I share reviews for them on my blog https://www.heidiangell.com/blog because they really do inspire me.

Where do you come up with your stories?
Some pretty bizarre places. As I said, Clear Angel Chronicles started as a dream. The Hunters Saga was kind of a kick back to Twilight. I worked in retail in movies at the time, and my husband and brother worked at the local mall. We all had a certain resentment for sparkling vampires, and I thought “What would we do in this situation?” and it just evolved from there. Hell School series is actually based on my personal experience being stalked in high school. Survivalist Bible was born from my obsession of everything Zombie.

Well you've certainly written a lot of them. And different genres too. Here's a quick preview for everyone of what she has written.

Who is your favorite author?
I couldn’t even pick a top ten list. Seriously, go visit my blog. I read SO MANY amazing authors.

What is one great lesson you have learned as a writer?
It is an unbelievable amount of work. I’m reminded of the adage “Overnight successes take 5 years to make.”

What is one thing you hate about being a writer?
The money. There is so much pressure to make money. We all need it to live, right? But if I had a million dollars, I don’t think I would do too much different, except not stress about the money. Lol.

What is one thing you love about being an author?
Reading reviews. I know, most authors don’t read them, and many say not to respond, but I love them. When someone gets it, it’s like meeting a best friend. When I get criticism it helps me improve.

Tell us something unique about you.
I have dissociative dyslexia, which is a nightmare when working with numbers. I’m always transposing them.

I did not know that! Wow, that has to be rough. What is your favorite genre to read?
Good LORD, again with the hard questions! Lol. Seriously, I haven’t met a genre that I didn’t like. It really just depends on my mood. My staples would be fantasy, science fiction, thrillers and horror, but I also enjoy historical fiction, adventure, and poetry.
Ok I'll stop pestering her, for today, on my blog only. This does not guarantee I won't pester you other places today of course. It is one of my favorite past times now. Cause I pester our of love. If you guys want to pester her you can check her out on her social media listed below. And if you haven't gotten it yet, check out her books. Or you can read the reviews I did for her books on here.  I covered Elements of a Broken Mind, where I fell in love with Clear, and Angel's Dance, where I fell in love with Grant a little. Just a little. He still needs to clean up his act a bit.

The West Woods

The West Woods
The West Woods is an intriguing young adult story about a teenager, Courtney, who is looking for a way out of the boarding school she had always wanted to attend. Courtney is the youngest daughter and has always felt like she had to live up to the example set by her sister. She had hoped that by going to the prestigious school her sister and father went to that she could find some way to shine bright enough to get out of her sister's shadow. Things didn't work out that way however, and as the book starts out she is regretting her decision to try. All she wants is to get out of the school and go back to her public school where she can run track again, the only place she really shines.
But her father, who loved the school, demands that she give it another try. He gives her a compromise, if she can prove to him that she learned enough about the school and still doesn't want to attend then he will revisit the idea of her changing school.
"Courtney pay attention. The West Woods are the key."

"We're not even allowed in the woods."

"Ah, but did you ever wonder why?"

Determined to prove to her father that she really is trying, Courtney makes a list of all the things she believes she will need to accomplish in order to go back home.
Get Home List
1. Master the secrets of St. Augustus - know more than Dad.
2.Win at swimming.
3 Make team captain.

That sets in motion events she had never expected. The magical secrets that start with a key and a wishing fountain on the campus pull her down strange paths until she barely recognizes herself. Her friends see what is happening to her and try to help her. But she has to finish her list. She has to master the secrets and succeed at swimming even if it destroys everything else she loves. There's no stopping her now. It's what she wished for.

When you inadvertently wish to master magical secrets long buried the consequences start to stack up. Courtney can't stop herself. She ends up dragging all of her friends, everyone who knows about the fountain, and everyone that gets in her way, down with her.
Stay tuned next week when I interview the author that wrote this wonderful book, Suzy Vadori. And of course if you want to read this book yourself, which I give a solid 5/5, click the link at the top or visit Suzy's author page.

Locke and Keye

Locke and Keye
I was lucky and was able to get this book as an ARC (advanced reader copy). And I was super stoked because I had heard from others how good this author is. And I have to say, they didn't talk her up enough. Now that I have read this book I have to go back and add the rest of her books to my list of books to read.

Mr Locke has worked hard to perfect his craft. Now that he has opened his newest shop he plans to bring his life long work to fruition. And it all depends on the men he has hired. Christie takes us on a dark path as a determined man works to solidify his family.

The induction is so insidious even the reader has to take a step back and think things through before they see what he is up to. But the story is crafted so expertly that the true extent of the depravity is hidden until the very end. Even when you think it's revealed, there's another layer. And another layer. And you're left wondering just how far will this man go to protect his "family"? And what will his new family do to protect him?

For those not as lucky as me, you can pick up your copy tomorrow, 9/7

Christie Stratos is an award-winning writer who holds a degree in English Literature. She is the author of Anatomy of a Darkened Heart and Locke and Keye, the first two books in the Dark Victoriana Collection.

Ambrosia features Phillip Roberts

Continuing with the Ambrosia spotlight we have Philip, who lives near my old hometown. Phillip Matthew Roberts is a 44 year old writer who resides in Lexington, Kentucky. When he isn't working on poetry or stories he relishes a night out at the movies followed by great food among good friends at one of his favorite restaurants. His work can be found in the soon-to-be released Ambrosia poetry anthology, and on Facebook

On a cold day: coffee, tea, cocoa or something a bit stronger, and why?

On a cold day I'd most likely settle on something a bit stronger. A shot of aged, single malt Scotch, preferably an 18 year old belt of Glenlivet. I'd also be tempted by Cointreau or a lovely sip of Chartreuse. Should also add that I prefer these drinks served neat and at room temperature so I may relish the full taste of these aperitifs.

Who inspires your writing?

Who inspires my writing? I'd suggest the library as being by far my favorite mistress. Borrowing an apropos quote from Jorge Luis Borges, "I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library." From my earliest memories it would seem I've been attracted, drawn toward these sanctuaries--bastions of thought and revery. Getting lost in the stacks or wandering aisles I embrace those masters who've come before, and it humbles my audacious ambitions; puts my desires in a proper perspective as I pursue my fiction and poetry on the page.

Who is your favorite author?
My favorite author today would be Jorge Luis Borges.

What one person from history would you like to meet and why?

If I could meet one person from history I'd daringly suggest, Judas Iscariot simply to ask what compelled you?

What is one great lesson you have learned as a writer?

One great lesson I've learned as a writer is: keep everything you've written, no matter how good or bad it may seem because any effort can be revisited and revised.

And of course, since he’s in Kentucky I had to ask him.
When you eat hot browns, what’s your favorite meats to put on it? And have you ever had potato candy?

If and when I dine on hot browns, I'm typically drunk enough not to worry or concern myself with what has gone into the makings of this famous Kentucky entree. As for potato candy? I think maybe during the Christmas holiday from my childhood but not since.

So maybe not everyone is as enamored with them as I am. Ah well.

And again, the book is Ambrosia. Delight in the nectar of the gods. Feed your mind with Ambrosia. Whispers to the gods are like honey from a poet's lips. When several poets raise their voices together, it's a sacred feast of memories and dreams. Poetry is divine food for the soul, full of emotional and celestial feeling. Join us in our longing, our pain and passion, heartache, logic and insanity, fear, faith, confusion, hope, unity, solitude, daily life, political strife, and more.

From the creative minds of Eric Keizer, A.L. Mabry, Sam DeLoach, Alyssa Trivett, Mello Sakia, Stacy Overby, Phillip Matthew Roberts, Veronica Falletta and Stephanie Ayers.

Sun Kissed by the Billionaire

It's not often that I get to read a romance novel that is both sweet and spicy. But this one is. It's book two of a series, and it starts out with such a sweet, painful, unselfish act of love that I instantly knew I had to read the first book to see what pushed this woman to such a desperate act.

Even better this book did not take the normal twists. For this couple, life keeps throwing them curve balls. Political intrigue, family drama, unexpected family drama, and it all is so well written and explained that you have no doubt that this could happen. We all know people that have lives that are full of conflict and drama due to families or friends. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad. But it's never boring.

The characters, even the minor characters, are so likable and intriguing I found myself rooting for them. I really hope Lizabeth Scott writes more about them so I can get to know them better.

I give this book a solid 5/5. It's got great writing, great characters, great formatting, great editing, great interesting plot.In case you need a recap, it's great and if you like romance or light intrigue you should definitely buy this book.
Because this book was so good I reached out to the author and asked her if she would be willing to do a quick interview with me. And she agreed!

Hello Lizabeth, how are you today? Tell us about yourself.
Hi, Rebekah!I’m doing great today, thanks. It’s been kinda busy for me. I’m getting ready for a book release and I am so stinkin’ excited! When I get too busy and involved I can forget many things. This morning I had to get to the post office early to mail a birthday present and run a few errands. Later in the day as I walked by a mirror in a store I noticed…I hadn’t even brushed my hair! How do you do that? It’s amazing what a little finger fluffing can do!
Oh, I have been there! I usually pretend, at least to myself, that I'm going for the ruffled look. Or I throw on a flannel and prove that I am over worked and over tired and people tend to swerve around me and not make eye contact. Tell us, what is the current book you are promoting?
Sun Kissed by the Billionaire releases on Sept. 4th. This will be the third book in the Kissed Series and it’s a story of a lot of happy accidents.
What’s with that series name?
Well it all starts with one super nova kinda kiss for each hero and heroine.
Oh that sounds scorchingly hot. I like those kinds of kisses. Who is your favorite character(s) in your book and why?
Do you mean all-time favorite of all my books? You expect me to pick a favorite child? No, huh-huh. Each of my characters are special to me for different reasons. Like Ki, in Sweet Surrender and Sweet Destiny. He was my first. How can you top that? I took every endearing trait I could think of and mashed them into one dreamy guy and he ended up being a king! Then Nicole in You Promised Me Forever…that entire book was given to me by the universe. Both Nicole and Will and their story came to me and wouldn’t leave me alone! I was in the middle of the Royal Vow Series and they didn’t care that I didn’t have time for them. I wrote it, released it, and the reviews were mixed. Folks either like it or they didn’t. I even contemplated pulling it at one point, that’s how bad some of the reviews were. But I really believed in the story. It wasn’t until a year later that I discovered the reason I wrote that book. I received an email from a reader who loved the story. Something between the pages touched something in her that she needed. She was struggling with some major health issues and I learned later that she lost the battle she’d been bravely fighting. To know that my story gave her even a moment of peace and happiness…the bad reviews suddenly didn’t bother me. She and I loved the book and that was all that mattered.
Fair enough, I won't make you pick a favorite child. But I know there has to be more. You have so many diverse and interesting characters in your books that you MUST be planning books for them. So what's your next project?
My next project will be the next story in the Kissed Series, French Kissed by the Billionaire. OH MY GOSH! This story is such a treat to write. It’s turning out to be a very fun and sexy read. Here is just a small bit of unedited goodness for you:
“But when Raven walked in she found her fiancée in their bed…” Sharle paused and looked around the restaurant for any eavesdroppers. Seeing no one close she leaned over and whispered into her friend’s ear, “with another woman.”Millie leaned back with her eyes bugging out. “No! You are kidding me.”“Right. And then instead of confronting them, she got in her Beamer and left!” Sharle forked a lettuce leaf and stuffed it into her mouth and chewed while contemplating the situation. She pointed her fork at Millie and used it to emphasize her point. “It served Matteo right. I mean, he had to take care of returning all the wedding gifts and explaining to everyone that since he couldn’t keep it in his pants, the best thing that had ever happened to him, had left his naked and hairy butt practically at the altar.”Millie buttered a roll and placed it lovingly on the side of her plate and sighed.Sharle rolled her eyes, “I don’t know why you do that. You should just eat it.”“Do you know how many calories are in that one little piece of buttered bread? You know I have to fit into my wedding dress in a month. I just like to look at it and pretend it’s going into my mouth. Get back to what happened. I bet Raven was devastated.”

And now I find myself hoping I get to do the ARC for that book as well! Tell us more about how you write. Are you a pantser, a plotter, or both?
I’m a total pantser. No matter how badly I want to plot and outline, it just doesn’t happen. I can create a lovely outline but then my characters develop minds of their own and well, there they go.
How do you write your books?
My characters drive the story. I have a general idea of who they are and a basic concept of their story and then I start writing. Sometimes I don’t even see things coming until they leave my fingers and end up on the pages. In Sun Kissed by the Billionaire there is one particular part I didn’t see coming. It even shocked me!
That actually makes me feel good since I'm the same way. I know my people, I know what they are going to do, but I have to write it to find out how they are going to do it and why. How long have you been writing? What got you started being an author?
I’ve been writing and since 2013. I wrote some in school and I had always wanted to try my hand at writing the stories I loved to read but I didn’t have the time. Actually, I was too scared to even try. But through a Facebook friendship with one of my favorite authors, Elizabeth Lennox, I took baby steps and with her mentoring and support/nagging, I surprised myself when I published Sweet Surrender in 2014.
Pretty sure I know this answer now but, what is your favorite genre to read?
Steamy contemporary romance and romantic comedy are my favs.
What do you listen to when you write?
Usually my dog Moxie snoring as sleeps beside me. She’s my writing buddy.
Is there anything you want to say to your fans?
I hope my readers know how much I appreciate each and every one of them.
Bio
Lizabeth spent years doing extensive research in preparation for writing her own stories by reading every romance book from her favorite authors. At least that's how she justifies her HUGE collection of romance books.

Liz grew up on a dairy farm in western North Carolina where she wrote her first story at the age of thirteen and fancied herself a songwriter through her teen years. She married her high school sweetheart and they had 2 super kids. With her children now settled and on their own Liz pulled her dreams of writing back out and that little spark that sizzled for years caught fire and is now roaring back to life.

Liz loves to read and write stories about quirky, endearing heroines and the strong, handsome heroes who love them to distraction. She promises you a few laughs along the way with some steamy and charming moments thrown in but always a happy ever after.
