Ideas that go unused.

It's kind of a sad thing with how many ideas I think of for my novels that I can't actually use because they just don't fit well. For example, I thought of the Devil-Lord getting a stronger variation of his spell, the Zero-Hour Darkness cannon that has more attacks in it. I named it the Gospel of the Apocalypse. Pretty cool, if I do say so myself.

Unfortunately, it seems like i won't be able to use this idea unless it's for a minor appearance late in the series. Ah well, I'll shelve it for another day.

Nightingale's Adventures 7/31

It seems like a good idea to blog about my book related adventures when I do something. So here it is for today:

Yesterday, I woman who identified herself as the person who handles book intake for the Taylor Library. She asked me to bring a copy of Rising Seas to the library today in order for them to purchase it and rent it out.
I was more than happy to obliged.
I swung by and completed the deal. With that, my new friend mentioned that she was trying to assemble (my mind ticks "The Avengers") a "club" of indie authors who are self published to give talks and work out and etc. I'm fully on board for that. I love getting asked questions about Rising Seas.

As I left, she recommended a whole host of other libraries...
I drove home like a madman, printed out some sales receipts to use, and sped out of my drive way to the song "Running Lights" by Sonata Arctica.
I hit a few local libraries, and even a comic book store owned by an indie comic author named Chuck Rowles (check out The Gods of Arr-Kelann).
After which I decided to head home and revel in my adventures from today.
There's a lot of places I was suggested to go with Rising Seas and my future with this seems to keep growing and growing!
Every time the sea settles, a new wave upsets it and keeps me going.
Thanks for reading, and see you around!

Writing a sequel

I've been working on Rising Sea's sequel, Dead Phoenix, pretty quickly. It is shaping up to be a more streamlined novel as opposed to Rising Seas. I always wondered if there was too much to do for the characters in Rising Seas and if the ending build-up wasn't rushed.
Anyway, the sequel has been interesting to write for me as I've never written a sequel to anything before. School essays rarely get a follow up of any kind. In a way, sequels seem easier because you have per-established characters who have set purposes, dreams, likes, dislikes, and etc. There wasn't much I added to the cast this time around except filling out Vladimir's father, Seth, and Alistair Sinclair's emotions and thoughts to have them become more realized...
Oh, and Alistair goes insane. There's that. That was fun to write.

I learned a lot writing Rising Seas and I hope to continue past Dead Phoenix with Regolith and several other novels. There's also Story of Zero, a monthly short story series that I've been planning and working on the side to fill time.

Thanks for reading, and see you around!

Blogging Irrersponcibly

Ok, I admit I couldn't keep up the whole blogging thing on a daily or weekly basis. I've been busy working on sequels and new stories and short stories and jobs and things.
Back to the point,I'll post as often as I can remember to shoot to thrill.
See ya.

Welcome!

Welcome and good.... Morning, noonday, afternoon, night, and/or whatever time it may be where and when you read this post.
My name, as you have probably seen already, is Nick Bolock. My friends also call me Nightingale as a nickname. This will be my semi-official blog that, like no other site before, I'll try my best to keep up on.

For starters, my first book called Rising Seas is up and running and in the public eye. It's moving a tad slow, but I'm a new author.
Anyway, some info on myself. I was born in a small town in Pennsylvania and moved to a larger city early in life with my parents. From there we moved back to another small town where driving back hoes and construction equipment wearing only underwear and a cowboy hat is accepted, and encouraged! We've been here four years (at the time of this writing) and I've met some crazy characters who've inspired some smaller stories from my mind.
When I'm not writing I like to play video games, go hiking, fishing, play with my Jack Russell, Nala, working, and doing a circus act of other things. I keep myself busy, to say the least.

I'll post about my thoughts and such when I have something concrete so... Stay tuned and if you have a question... ASK! I enjoy all sorts of questions!
