Presents in a Birdcage

I’m pretty sure we’re the only family I know who keeps their Christmas presents in a cage. A wrought iron bird cage to be exact. The “tradition” started last year when we didn’t have our tree yet and needed somewhere to put the presents where our puppy couldn’t get them.

Plate Update: Pumpkins, Bows, and Christmas Coming

Thank you, Lord, for November. It truly was a beautiful month.

This month’s full plate was stacked high with Thanksgiving food! I even made extra-special-but-not-so-traditional cheesecake for part of our celebration. So yummy.

Book Review: Kate’s Innocence

(So apparently my blog had a Thanksgiving break and I forgot to tell myself. Between a fantastic weekend–off school, with family, expressing gratefulness, and eating cheesecake–and some technical difficulties, I took a break.

Book Review: The Princess in Black and the Mysterious Playdate

[image error]“Noseholes and elephants! A pet-eating monster interrupts a perfect playdate with Princess Sneezewort . . . but who is that new masked avenger?

Princess Magnolia and Princess Sneezewort have plans . . . mysterious plans, like a princess playdate! They dress-up slam! They karaoke jam! They playhouse romp and snack-time stomp! But then a shout from outside Princess Sneezewort’s castle interrupts their fun. It’s a monster trying to eat someone’s kitty! This is a job for the Princess in Black. Yet when the Princess in Black gets there, she finds only a masked stranger and no monster in sight . . . or is there? Action and humor abound in this ode to friendship that proves that when shape-shifting monsters intrude on your plans, two heroes are better than one.” (from Goodreads)

My younger sisters and I were highly anticipating this book by Shannon Hale, and I went to the library for the express purpose of picking it up.

I’m Grateful

Happy Thanksgiving week, y’all! Here are five things I’m grateful in no particular order.

My homework is turned in, and I’m alive, and I have a corner of brain left. YeEEES! (My short story was only 75 minutes late being turned in… A.K.A. 1:15 am, but my teacher was nice and didn’t reduce my grade. I can’t decide if professors are angels or devils. They vary. I’m also excited about the theme. Maybe you’ll get to see this story soon.

A Stewardship of Stories

I was thinking about my current story during church last week. It wasn’t that I was tuning out the sermon or anything, it was that the sermon applied SO MUCH.

But let me back up a little.

Book Review: Christmas Eve at the Back Door

Christmas tour

Christmas time is here! Okay, so not quite yet. It’s still over a month away, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start celebrating early, right? So today, we’re celebrating the release of not one, not four, but eight new Christmas books! All written by Rebekah A. Morris. I’ll be reviewing two of her books today, and you can find out more about the others as you follow the tour.

Can I go to this town for Christmas? Everyone is so neighborly, and I love the set-up of the backdoors.
