The 20-Question Book Tag

It’s been a pretty busy week for me with writing, weeding the yard, visiting three libraries with my family (two in one day just for kicks and the other for a super cool craft), attending a party just because it was something my character would do, and doing the other numerous, undefinable things that make up life.

Book Review: Kate’s Conundrum

“When the seventeen-year-old Samantha Hardgrave disappears, Kate is sent to take her place at the college to follow up on leads. What she finds is a girl more complicated than most people thought with plenty of her own secrets. Samantha’s parents painted a picture of an upstanding girl who never hides anything, but that isn’t what Kate hears from Samantha’s roommate. Who is telling the truth?

Patrick doesn’t even feel like they should be on the Hardgrave case. It is clear to everyone except her family what happened: she ran off with a visiting professor. Yet, as he learns more about her from her friends and family, he begins to doubt. Would Samantha have done something like that? And how come Kate is getting such a different picture of who Samantha was?” (from Goodreads)

The notes for this review were on an ill-fated piece of paper that went missing, so, alas! This will be a mini-review of sorts.

Halfway!!! (+Excerpt)

Christmas candy is amazing for getting writing done. Especially since my younger siblings gave me writing snacks as a gift.

Plate Update: Christmas, Peppermint Bark, and Livestreams

December.  A month of Advent candles and coldness and anticipation and family gatherings. ❤

December’s full plate was an…erm…stocking FULL of candy.

Bookish Goals for 2019

Here we are in a new year. Can you believe it? Today I opened up my Happy Planner and wrote my first words in it. I’m excited for the fresh calendar, fresh month, fresh year.

Let’s Review

Just less than an hour left until the new year! Can you believe it? And are you excited?!!

For the last couple of days, I’ve been thinking about goals for next year, looking forward to starting a new devotional, and just today I set a new reading goal on Goodreads. But before the new year is officially here, I’d like to reflect on 2018, its blessings, happenings, and all its things.

(Wow, using the word “reflect” sounds so serious and legit.)

In the blogging sphere…

I’ve branched out a little bit from my strict topic schedule (what with all the blog tours, a party, and a book release!), and it’s been really fun. This was actually only my second full year of blogging, so sometimes I feel like I’m still figuring things out a little bit but you’ve all been so patient with me and my bad photography and the like. Thank you! ❤ (Also, I started a newsletter and that’s fun…)

I looked up my stats for the top five posts of this year (except things including giveaways, because that’s an unfair advantage XD), and here’s what the numbers show…

Flash Fiction with Anna was so much fun! We both ended up really enjoying our stories, and I hope we can do this again soon. A Day in My Life As An Author makes me happy just rereading it. I’m so blessed by my life. ❤ The Generation Rising Team Rides Again is full of blurry pictures and a lot of fun memories. We sold books at the homeschool convention again, and I got to debut my brand new novel!

A Christmas-y Update

Apparently blogging on schedule is not my thing during December. XD Sorry to leave you all in the lurch, though I have been having a great time celebrating and preparing for Christmas. ❤

My family and I are doing Advent again this year, and this time we’ve added watching Bible project theme videos to our traditions. It’s been a beautiful time of reflecting on all facets of Christmas and looking forward to Christ’s second coming. And just hanging out specially as a family. ❤

(This week, the third week of Advent, is all about joy!)

Another thing that has been sooo special was watching the annual Behold the Lamb concert put on by Andrew Peterson and guests. My oldest sister and her family brought the livestream and some snacks over to our house, and we all sat around enjoying it. This is the second year we’ve watched the concert, and it’s quickly become a special tradition. ❤

I’ve also been running around like crazy putting together Christmas presents. It’s really been more fun than stress for me (which is a blessing!), and I’m so excited about what I’m giving my family that I keep almost spilling secrets. XD (80% of my gifts are books… What does that say about me?

We’ll Just Call It a Christmas Book

Just like It’s a Wonderful Life wasn’t originally intended to be a Christmas movie, this book is more about a fascinating mystery than it is about Christmas. But I like it that way, and since it’s set in winter, Christmas is featured, and it’s so cozy and homey that I can’t really be blamed for connecting it with Christmas when I think of it.

A Little Gift Inspiration for You

Maybe you’ve got all your Christmas presents picked out, wrapped, and in a row, or maybe you’re like me…

Still figuring out what to get for certain family members and friends.

More Than Fluff and Nonsense

I don’t really do Santa Claus in the classic sense–red suit, reindeer, sweet tooth, magical ability to procrastinate all year and then finish his project in ONE NIGHT (wait, is he a college student??)–but let me tell you, this is no classic Santa story.
