“What I Learned Through Collaboration” (guest post by Lillian Keith)

I’m blessed by God’s grace to have a sister who has helped me illustrate my books and create lovely covers for each of them. Learning to collaborate together has its challenges, but once we worked through it, the results were worth it. If you’re thinking of working with an artist/designer for the first time, I...Continue reading »

meet my new character Lore

Yes, her name is literally Lore (like the Taylor Swift album as she tells a new friend), and her story is underway and currently with beta-readers. 🩷 She has curly hair, old tennis shoes (there’s a good reason), and she’s a country girl in the big city. Here’s the (current) first line… I took inspiration...Continue reading »

Operation Thunderbird had me holding my breath

“You are not a hero, Andromeda. The year is 2076. Earth is ruled by a one-world government. In order to maintain unity, all citizens must deny their national, racial, and religious identities—or suffer the consequences. Seventeen-year-old Philadelphia Smyrna lives two lives. To the government, she’s Andromeda, the adopted daughter of an influential family. To the...Continue reading »

my september bookhaul

It’s been a banner month for my bookshelves between thrifting, a trip to the used bookstore, and finally collecting some favorite indie books in paperback. 🧡 Here’s my bookhaul… The Search for Delicious by Natalie Babbitt and Airman by Eoin Colfer are two old favorites I bought to share with J. I hope he enjoys...Continue reading »

it’s great british bake-off season!

And I’m already in love with the bakers and the new presenter and the cozy British vibes. 🧡🧡 So far Abbi, Tasha, and Dan are my favorites. 😁 And I made tea and cake to celebrate the first episode. 😉 Anyone else watching? No spoilers if you see it before Friday. 😉

five fall favorites // my top 5 indie discoveries

Hello, and happy day four (aka the one I was secretly most looking forward to though for legal reasons I love all my children equally)! Indie (or self-published) books carry such a beautiful diversity of genre-smashing, faith-filled, intensely creative, and supremely interesting works. I was first lured into my love of writing by realizing that...Continue reading »
