my year in books: 4 I regret reading

Life is too short to read books you don’t like, but this year I was a little more experimental (it brought me some of my favorite books!) so there are a handful of books I regret reading/starting. Disclaimer: I’m not including any books by authors known to me. (If you’d like to see more, check...Continue reading »

my year in books: top 5 favorites

2023 has been a banner reading year for me—with old series continuing and brand new finds both trad and indie, I’ve read 70+ books. O.o. So paring it down to five favorites wasn’t easy. (If you’d like to see more, check out my Favorites shelf and my Year in Books on Goodreads.) 😉 In the...Continue reading »

i’m in love with Catching Fire

Sparks are igniting.Flames are spreading. And the Capitol wants revenge. Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the Hunger Games. She and fellow District 12 tribute Peeta Mellark are miraculously still alive. Katniss should be relieved, happy even. After all, she has returned to her family and her longtime friend, Gale. Yet nothing is the way...Continue reading »

i wrote more and the mc isn’t behaving

Project Elia is progressing nicely, if sporadically. I broke 15k words yesterday, and I’m a little shocked to be this far! (Outlining works, y’all.) See what I mean about sporadic? *hides* I’m having a problem with my characters, though. In a moment of getting unstuck, I added a new character. And he is absolutely ADORABLE....Continue reading »

you must read the delightfulness that is The Red House Mystery

The creator of such beloved storybook characters for children as Winnie-the-Pooh, Piglet, and Eeyore, A. A. Milne was also the author of numerous dramas, essays, and novels for adults — among them, this droll and finely crafted whodunit. In it, Milne takes readers to the Red House, a comfortable residence in the placid English countryside...Continue reading »

an observation from my new favorite show

I have a new show I’m currently obsessing over. It includes time travel, good versus evil, and the shippiest of shippables SHIPS. (Y’all. It’s amazing.) But an old trope (mentally ill person is actually magical) reared its head, and I accepted my fate that they would probably make her go off her meds to save...Continue reading »

5 short reads to fill you with Christmas spirit

Christmastime is here! Just a couple days after Thanksgiving, we decorated our apartment with our tree, colorful lights, and little details here and there. ❤ I’ve already wrapped half the presents (the other half are on their way), and I’m eagerly waiting to read Hercule Poirot’s Christmas. To help you get into the spirit of...Continue reading »

of advent calendars and ebooks

I bought a wooden Advent calendar last year. It’s shaped like a house and has little doors for each day. I still need to print out verses and make a Baby Jesus for Day 25, but I got all the candy in, so that’s cool, right? 😉 It’s really unique, and I’m so looking forward...Continue reading »
