TGIM

Thank God It's Monday!

Oh, settle down. Y'all already knew that about me.

Hey, did I tell y'all I'm on Twitter? I'm pretty easy to find as I'm "selacarsen". Yes, I'm terribly original.

I have a 13yo daughter, free to good home. I mentioned to a friend that I really get why people send their kids to boarding school.

Onto other things now. I'm still letting a Steampunk article percolate in my head. There has to be something new I can bring to the table. Or do you think that Steampunk is still...

History

I was looking up an old blog post of mine for something and ended up reading my posts for Sept 09.

Plus ça change, plus ça reste même.

Last year at this time, I was panicking over writing Carolina Pearl. That turned out pretty well!

I remembered to make my girl appointment last year. This year, I keep bumping up against their stupid automated phone system, so I haven't done it yet. *sigh* Ok. Give me a minute………. All right. Appointment made. And I'm even going to get my boobies squished...

Butterfly Swords

BUTTERFLY SWORDSby Jeannie LinAvailable from Harlequin HistoricalsOctober 2010

Unless, of course, you read e-books, in which case you can have it NOW like I do!

I actually bought this at the beginning of the month, but haven't had much time to read until last night, when I plopped myself in my reading chair after dinner and told my family that I wasn't moving until I'd finished the book.

OMG. Who needs to move? What could possibly be more interesting than watching a princess and a barbarian...

Did I ask for rain?

I don't remember asking for rain. Especially not today, when we're scheduled to go to a mega wine tasting (over 700 different wines, beers and spirits)! Ordinarily, I'm good with rain, but daggone it!

Went to my MORWA meeting yesterday and Jade Lee was the speaker. She was talking about adding depth to your characters and I volunteered Carolina Psycho Wolf Bunny for shredding. It was so cool! She helped me really clarify some things about my characters that I had been struggling with. I'm not ...

Now I remember

Everything I hated about 8th grade.

Algebra is hard! I spent yesterday trying to help DD solve for 'x' in equations with fractions. I hate dividing fractions. I complained to DH (I should know better by now. I really should.) and he wrote back, "Just multiply the inverse."

Oh. Okay.

Today, more math. Science, history, language arts, plus some mega research to do on the stockmarket for her TAG class. Oh, and I signed up both the Monkey Children to go play mini-CSI at a library thingy tonight.

And ...

My Steampunk links

Someone asked me yesterday for a list of Steampunk websites and links, so I went through my bookmarks and came up with this list. I figured it might be interesting to some of my bloglets, too, so here you go.

My go-to site is the Brass Goggles forum. People who live a whole SP lifestyle and many more who work in the aesthetic or mechanical branches.

Victoria Janssen has a good collection of links in this "Intro to SP" post. Read her whole SP tag.

Meljean Brook's post. Her first Iron Seas novel i...

It's been one hell of a week

Family crises, edits on deadline, artistic surprises…I'm sure I have at least twice as much grey now as I did at this time last week. Hell, at this time on Thursday morning, life was going swimmingly.

But things change. Things happen. And you deal with the fallout.

So this will be my fallout week. I'm turning around Final Line Edits (FLEs) today and then … more family stuff. So I'm tired, but I'm still writing. I'm actually getting new words onto the wip, now with the working title: Carolina...

I got my 2nd round of edits!

I know. I'm a freak. Sometimes I think I'm the only writer on earth who actually loves going through the editing process.

Not on my own, though. Those final revisions before something is ready to submit are torture, but there's something about the collaborative process of editing WITH an editor. Like you're both working together to make the final product this little slice of awesome.

The first round of edits for CAROLINA PEARL wasn't as painful as I'd feared. Even though I like the process...

Now that I'm back

I decided to do a little old-fashioned (because time in the Twitterverse moves so quickly) blog hopping. Remember blog hopping? When you'd scroll through your sidebar and click on friends names to see what they were up to? These days, I can never remember how to update my sidebar, so there's hardly anyone there. And the friends I used to have on there have probably forgotten who I am because it's been so long since I visited their blogs.

But today I visited, even if I didn't comment:

Raine...
