S.Valentine grew up in England. Studying English language and literature, as well as law, she worked in a solicitors for many years before moving to Spain. She does however still visit the UK, which in a way, will always be home.
Returning to her lifelong passion of writing books, she’s also a weekly columnist for The Ibizan newspaper on: lifestyle and fashion. Some of you know that I wrote a novel titled: How the Fat Girl Got Thin. For those of you who don’t, it’s a fictionalized story of my time spent living and teaching in a village in southern Thailand. My intention was always to have it published, but time and life got away with me and there it sat on my bookshelf. A friend of mine recommended that I join Kindle Scout, in hopes of securing a publishing contract. Kindle Scout, for a lack of a better analogy, is the American Idol for publishing.
Kindle Scout is a publishing program through Amazon and books selected are guaranteed publication on Kindle, their e-book platform. What is different about Kindle Scout is that prospective authors use social media to reach as many supporters as possible who then nominate the work. Writing Inspiration
That said, most of the writing time isn't about inspiration, it's just about writing most days and seeing where you get. I write an outline and start with a few characters and conflicts and an idea for an ending. As days pass, more details occur to me and snowball into a full fledged story over time. Walks or bike rides can help too.
For my romantic mysteries, Sarah Starting Over and Greyson Starting Over, I wanted to write about parenting and grief and my friend urged me to write about a disabled character. Because of my childhood love of Murder She Wrote, I also wanted to try my hand and writing a mystery.
