Friday Feast | Chocolate for an Anniversary

Welcome to Friday Feast in the Tavern! Before I close the doors to the Tavern for the weekend, I'm sharing a favorite cookie treat. There's nothing special about today's recipe, since I'm spending some quiet time with my knight to celebrate our 39th wedding anniversary tomorrow. The temps are glorious here in our city, and we're going to take advantage of Mother Nature's blessings. We've pulled out the barbecue and spruced up the pillows for our swing outdoors. A nice, quiet weekend with food an...

Friday Feast | Celebrating the Month of Love with Chocolate Banana Bread

Welcome to the month of February and Friday Feast in the Tavern! It's all about my love of chocolate. I'll take this decadent treat in any form. And yes, I do treat myself (don't you?) every day with a small piece of dark chocolate. It's good for your body, mind, and soul. Aye, indeed!

Banana bread is a classic in this household. A few weeks ago, I didn't have any overripe bananas, but my knight (aka the hubby) reminded me of the ones I stashed in the freezer. In under an hour, I had enough wo...

Friday Feast | A Twist on Butternut Squash

Welcome back to Friday Feast in the Tavern! Here we are on the last Friday in January 2022! Did the month zip by for you? Or did it drag on? It's a toss-up for me, but I'm glad it's the end of a work week.

This recipe was originally planned in November. If you recall, I forgot to take a photo before I dove into this dish with gusto. As promised, here is a kicked-up version of butternut squash. I've added a heat level to the dish, so again, feel free to omit the spice.

Until next Friday, be s...

Friday Feast | A Cozy Casserole

Welcome back to Friday Feast in Mary's Tavern! Recently, I saw a comment where a person mentioned how long the month of January lingered. Really?! I think this month is zipping faster than December. It might have to do with many longing for spring? Or for warmer temps? Regardless, I'll stick to cozy meals—from hearty soups to filling casseroles. I'll worry about spring next month when I get the urge to start planting in my garden.

Today's recipe is full of everything I love and perfect to swap ...

Friday Feast | Bruschetta with Blue Cheese and Honey

Welcome back to Friday Feast in the Tavern! With the holidays behind us (though my home continues to have a few winter/holiday decorations sprinkled throughout), I'm thinking of snacks for all the upcoming football playoff games my knight enjoys. Personally, I'm too nervous to watch and would rather read a good book. And I don't want to be spending my entire day cooking. Sundays are also great to toss some items into a Crock-pot for a crowd, or just the two of us.

I've shared my passion for ho...
