What I’m working on?
Today I’m working on Assassins Core 5. I’ve changed the beginning drastically. So, I’ll be merging two documents to create one. I’m almost thirty thousand words into the new half but I’ll merge it with the original document tomorrow.
I like the changes, and I added more information about Gracelyn. I want to eventually give her a short story of her own. But for now, she’s caught between a rock and a hard place as she struggles to emerge as her own person.
Amazingly, I deviated from my usual opening for the series where Alexi meets with the enemy. That will happen, but it’s happening later in the book.
This book could be longer than the others because of the split halves due to the way I’ll merge them. I’ll add one section at a time and edit and make changes and or additions as I go along.
Tia is also continuing to develop into a darker woman in some ways. The things I’ve written in the new section just sprang up naturally, but they’ll only add to defining the woman for coming books.
I don’t have a cover yet but I do have a pub date for Assassin’s Core 4. Nov. 13th. It’s another fight to the finish for Alexi with an enemy mentioned in a previous book.
I do have a brief excerpt today. This is from the beginning and an event where Alexi and Tatiana are in attendance. This sets up the beginning of what is to come.

“They
were both a great help financially to the foundation,” Aeron said. “However,
there is a gap that needs to be filled.”
“I’m
sure I won’t be of much help in aiding you finding another investor.”
“Two
investors,” Aeron said. “The Women’s Foundation is very important in this city
and even the state. Our older programs as well as some of our newer ones depend
on funding from influential members of society.”
“That
is true,” the blonde said. “But we have to be careful Aeron. Our credibility
could be damaged by some individuals.”
“True
as that may be—”
“Leave
it, Aeron,” the other woman cut in. “The Rivers’ have arrived. Let’s go say
hello.”
“I’ll
join you in a moment,” Aeron said coolly.
The
other woman gave Aeron a warning look and strode away.
“She’s
right, but the thing is without support from your family some of our programs
will become unimportant,” Aeron said. “I understand your attraction for the
dangerous Russo. She’s a bad girl and bad girls are every bit as attractive as
bad boys.”
“Meaning?”
Tatiana asked with a frown.
“Meaning,
money isn’t good or bad, it’s what we do with it that’s the issue, and The
Women’s Foundation had done much good with your family’s money,” Aeron told
her. “While the others are voting to remove you from the board, I voted we keep
you in your grandmother’s position.”
Tatiana
nodded in understanding. “You want my inheritance, my family’s influence, and
Alexi’s money.”
“At
times women like Russo have more than money to offer,” Aeron said. “We have to
move women through our underground network, women who are in hiding from
abusive husbands, boyfriends, and even family members.”
“So?”
“So,
Russo could be quite helpful in providing a safe haven for some of our victims.
I’d like a meeting with her to discuss this.”
“She’s
right across the room,” Tatiana said. “Go and talk to her yourself.”
“This
is a delicate situation, Tatiana.” Aeron took a sip of her wine. “We’re good
people who do good things and sometimes we break the law to help women and
children who have no recourse from the law.”
“I—”
“I
can’t be seen talking to her for too long even here. Broach the subject with
her and let me know if she’ll be willing to talk to me. Just talk.”
Tatiana
shrugged her shoulders. “I’ll ask, but I’m warning, you Aeron, if this is some game
by the FBI to backdoor into our lives, I will be the one to hurt you and this
foundation.”
Aeron
arched a brow at her. “I’m not afraid of you, Tatiana,” she rebutted calmly.
“But Russo, now she scares me.” Aeron glanced behind her on finishing her sentence.
“Ms. Russo.”
“Ms.
Davenport,” Alexi Russo said coolly as she moved to Tatiana’s side and slipped
an arm around her waist.
