Self-Doubt vs. Self Love

RecoveryImage created using CanvaSelf-doubt is…
…asking for advice when I know the answer,
…anger disguised as fear,
….my unwillingness to let go,
… creating chaos to become the victim of my design,
…false control masquerading as helplessness.
What would it take to…
…open the window of my heart,
…allow the flow of wisdom?
I would need to…
…put the phone down,
…stop writing the text,
….delete the email draft,
…talk to my ego — my scared little girl — and tell her to step back from the ledge,
…command her not to jump into fear,
…close my eyes and say: “I know.”
My scared little girl is standing on the ledge because she…
…doesn’t know what to do,
…has to figure things out,
…needs access to resources,
…never wanted this.
I grab the megaphone and shout:
“You are loved, worthy, and enough. And you don’t have to do this!”
(The “this” refers to jumping off the ledge, betraying myself, and wasting my wisdom).
My inner critic chitters and chatters away.
Sometimes, it shouts, and sometimes I wince.
It takes courage to grab the megaphone and say: “Enough! You are enough, and you are worthy.”
I am here. I am witnessing, soothing, calming.
I hold the girl. She cries and quakes.
Of course, she’s overwhelmed — she’s terrified. I let her fight the external world, and she fought and bled and fought and bled.
Who stands up for her? I have to…
…love her through the tantrums.
…remind her: she is safe, she is loved, and she is enough.
Self-doubt is…
…ignoring the crackle of my cry on the baby monitor.
Self-love is…
…singing the ancestral song of love — remembering we are divine.

Call for Submission — What Are You Most Looking Forward To?

Call for Submission — What Are You Most Looking Forward To?

It’s the time of year we reflect and look ahead. Both are important as a means of self-care because who you are, who you’ve been, and who you want to be are all interconnected.

For this week’s writing prompt, I want you to look ahead. What are you most looking forward to in the coming months? What’s making you excited or anxious? How are you handling it? I want details :)

Same rules as always:You can submit to this or ANY of our past writing prompts. Just scroll through our previous newsletters. They’ll be marked “Call for Submissions.”If you’re already a writer for CRY, go ahead and submit.Be as creative as you want in your submissions. As long as you stick to the topic, we’ll consider it.Just because you submit doesn’t mean we’ll post. If you haven’t heard back from us in three days, consider that a pass.[image error]

Hold Onto You

My darling
hold onto you closely, you are a wonder of this world.
The earth may be large, and you may be small
but even the earth can’t say no to a space invader.
Fence cutters will be jealous of your jewels,
for while open lockers will always be empty
you are the safe and the prize —
like your skin is made from diamonds.

My darling
hold onto you closely,
but don’t steal yourself from the world because the world needs more of you in it.
Don’t hide behind closed doors and shut curtains because a mirror to you is like the sun.
Don’t ever walk away from someone because you know they’re going to say you’re beautiful —
just say thank you, knowing that he smiles at your beauty — and yet — doesn’t know the half of it.
I bet that’d make you smile, too, wouldn’t it?

Digital Marketing and SMM Accountability 2

This is the second edition of my accountability posts. I applied to HerTechTrail for their Digital Marketing Cohort. The main problem for me was their Fitness Test.

The reason I had issues with that was creating a Facebook business account. We would need that for ads. It is difficult to make payments for ads using a Naira debit card. Annoying, isn’t it?

Considering that, I initially asked them to switch my learning track from Digital Marketing to Product Management. I created a business page, but the ad account will be a problem for me later on.

Thankfully, I have an Instagram account for my Virtual Assistance services. Warning: Memes ahoy!!

I sent the link for the Instagram and Facebook accounts to the admins via a Google Doc in Google Classroom, and I scored 71%. This thrilled me since you need to score the cutoff mark of 70 to advance.

I forgot to add a content calendar, so I added the link to that and resubmitted it for follow-up evaluation. Currently waiting for feedback. Yay!! First content calendar ever!!

I am trying to create batch content and other stuff. I just need to put myself out there and slowly craft a brand for myself. I have a company logo, but it is subject to change.

Content creation can be exhausting, but it can be fun too. So long as you have some systems and tools in place, you are good to go. Next week will be the beginning of a new chapter of my life because by next week Thursday, I will become a married woman. Exciting stuff, huh? I am thinking of creating a podcast for virtual assistants soon.

I joined Ace Corterie’s Social Media Management course, and I have submitted all the quizzes and assignments. Let’s see how things go.

Keep watching this space for more info as time goes on.
