Ryan Mitchell (pen name, of course) is a writer, a reader, and part-time philosopher. When he isn't crafting new stories or dreaming up fantastical worlds, he's just your everyday "what am I going to do with my life" college student.

Though he hails from the beautiful city of Cleveland, Ohio, he currently lives south of Columbus where he attends the University of Dayton (supposedly studying English and Philosophy).

He is currently unagented and is most definitely a dog person.

The Long Version:

I was born in Euclid, Ohio but grew up in Cleveland not far from Euclid Beach Park. I spent countless days at my grandma and grandpa's house, where out by my grandpa's garden and vineyard my love of storytelling began. I attended St. Jerome, a Catholic elementary school (Fun fact: Irish-American mobster Danny Greene also went there).

After a stint in public school, I found myself back in the Catholic school system at Lake Catholic in Mentor, Ohio. I spent too much time scribbling down bad story ideas and day-dreaming at home, and not enough time with my nose in my books. While at Lake, I was the only male member of the marching band's flag corp. and was really into Academic Decathlon. The summer after my junior year, my friends and I filmed a short zombie flick that was subsequently shown in every class at my school. My senior year, a good friend of mine and I wrote and directed a Lady Gaga fan-musical. Needless to say, I was a total nerd in high school (and still am, who am I kidding).

I am currently a junior at the University of Dayton where I study English and Philosophy. My interests in English are pretty eclectic, ranging from Hemingway to Dickens to Joyce. My interests in philosophy include existentialism, Aristotle, and environmental ethics. This is where I got the amazing opportunity to work on a creative writing honors thesis, and got to spend the entire summer after my sophomore year working on it. When I wasn't wreaking havoc and participating in all forms of coffee-riddled mania or debauchery, I was crunching away my first novel. It was a great summer, and I am so blessed to have had the opportunity - I believe it was a turning point in me being a writer.

I still have three semesters of studies in front of me. Currently, I am working on my next creative project while polishing and marketing my first one, THE SEAL OF SOLOMON. I am also preparing for the LSAT. In a year I could see myself writing, getting my Masters (in Philosophy or Creative Writing), or attending law school. Or any combination thereof. All I know for sure is that the world sits in front of me, and I choose to experience life for its fullest... Whatever that's supposed to mean.

Other than writing and philosophy, I love music and film. While I hope to one day be a published author, my true dream is to also write a screenplay for either television or the big screen. Ask me about music and film and I'd be more than happy to chew your ear. ...more

Hello internet and all you people who might have stumbled onto my blog.

It has been a very long time since I've last used this blog to write anything. Honestly, there have been more moments than I can count where I would think, "Maybe I should blog about this?" And then I proceed to do nothing of the sort.
