Babelcube: Irradiated becomes Irradiados

The single greatest thing about the rise of the eBook is how it’s opened up worldwide markets for authors. Ten years ago, I would have had to fight tooth and nail for an opportunity to publish in my home country, let alone abroad. Now, I can make my book available to hundreds of millions of […]

Progress Report: Irradiada, Degenerated, and Gun-Toting Androids

¡Hola! So, I’ve been a little quiet here lately. I’ve been waiting to iron out some kinks in my updated website, but that’s moving slowly–so here I am! What’s been happening, you ask? A lot: I’ve received DEGENERATED back from my editor, and am currently working my way through the edits. The good news is […]

Website Design (Part II)

Okay, now the fun part!

In case youmissed my last post, I’ve recently begun working with a website designer in order to spruce up my internet-home. I’ve decided to share the process, from an author’s perspective (that’s me!), in the hope that it may be useful or helpful to others in similar positions.

So, where do we start?

Find a web designer. This part can be hard or difficult, depending where you look. I found my web designer, Faus Ga, over at the kboards writers’ café, a place on the internet...

Website Design (Part I)

I’ll be the first to admit that at the moment… well, this website is a bit daggy. Yet, I love it. It’s like a pair of old jeans. Everybody tells you that they’re horrible and worn out. They say, “Y’know, perhaps you should wash those things once in a while.” Yes, blue denim is supposed to be blue. But what do they know, anyway?

Then one day you’re at the shopping centre, and you think hmm, perhaps I should try on that pair of black jeans. And the next thing you know, those beloved blue-green d...

Next: A Post-Apocalyptic Western

I am feeling good today. I woke up with an 8.5 km run, then sat down to apply the final touches on Degenerated (the sequel to Irradiated). The manuscript goes to my editor this weekend, and I couldn’t be more excited. I love this book. The mid-point marks the darkest, heaviest part of the trilogy. It builds on the world of Irradiated, and opens things up for the final book, Aberrated. The universe has really taken shape.

So, I want to share something with you.

A few people have commented that t...

Progress Report: Irradiated is in the wild, Degenerated inches closer.

Ahoy!

So what’s the news, you ask?

Irradiatedhas been out in the wild for about two weeks now! If you haven’t got it yet, then make sure to pick it up. It’s been a crazy ride so far–the highlights have been topping out at #2 in Post-Apocalyptic Sci-Fi on Amazon Australia and hitting the top ten inin Science Fiction Westerns on Amazon.com. Reviews so far have been great, including awonderful review by author Michael Patrick Hicks. It has also been featured on Pegasus Pulp’s “Indie Speculative Fi...

IRRADIATED: A Review

selliotbrandis:

I just had to reblog this. Author Michael Hicks has just posted a review of Irradiated on his website, and, well… gosh. Michael is a fantastic science fiction writer in his own right, so this review means a lot to me. Give it a read.

A Wrap-Up: Interviews, GoodReads, and Showcases

Irradiated has been out for almost two weeks now, and I’ve been having a lot of fun across the internet.

The tables have turned on the interviewing front. Instead of being the interviewer, I have become the interviewee. I sat down for an interview with Allan Walsh, which has just gone live on his website. Allan is a fellow Brisbane author, with a penchant for horror and fantasy. He asked about my attraction to dystopian futures, the wild west, my writing style, and yes–what makes my antagonist...

The Speculative Fiction Blog Hop!

G’day y’all! (Now, there’s a confusing pair of contractions for you)

I’m fortunate enough to be part of a Speculative Fiction Blog Hop. What is a blog hop, you ask? It’s a passing of the baton from one author the the next, each one gettinga chance to discuss their writing process, through four simple questions. It’s a fun way to get to know a whole bunch of fantastic Spec-Fic writers, a genre very close to my heart.

Passing me the baton is ElleChambersat Indie Spirit Press. Elle is not only a h...
