Call of the Dragon is Going Live November 7th!
This is it. The culmination of tons of blood, sweat and tears… okay, not so much blood, but you get the picture. Call of the Dragon is going live on Amazon on November 7th. It’s been such a long road, that it seems almost impossible that it’s actually happening. With the help of some amazing friends and authors, I think I finally have all my ducks in a row and am ready for the big launch of my Return to Avalore Series.
For anyone who hasn’t read the prequel to this story yet, Flickering Light is still available for purchase as part of the Love Is… anthology that was released in August, or you can subscribe to my newsletter over to the right of your screen for a free copy. Proceeds from the anthology go to charity, so feel free to pick it up on Amazon.com.
Right on the heels of Call of the Dragon, Rise of the Phoenix will be set free on November 21st, then hopefully followed by yet another, yet unnamed (yeah, I have to get on that) release early in December. Whew! The Return to Avalore series is shaping up quite nicely. Once these three stories are out in the wild, I’ll be plowing forward with the third full length due to come out early 2015. What a crazy ride this has been so far, but such an enjoyable one.
I think after all that hard work, I deserve to pamper myself a little. Maybe I will have a drink (or 10) and kick my feet up, or treat myself to a massage or mani/pedi, oh a trip to the salon would be nice… nah, who am I kidding? I have more words to be written, more pages to be edited, and more hair to be pulled out.

Love Is… charity anthology is out and available for purchase!
I’ve posted about it before but as it’s my first story being sent out into the world, this is a very exciting time for me, so I’m posting again.
We’ve been getting some great reviews so far, and so if you’re on the fence about getting a copy, please check them out at Amazon and Goodreads. I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as they did.
The backside of releasing a book takes a lot of time and dedication, and something with forty-one authors is a job of epic proportions. I’d like to thank those who’ve worked on this story along with me, and also those behind the scenes who didn’t want to be named.
To the Divas who did the organization, the formatting, the graphics, the crazy amount of leg work, the donations gathering for prizes.. the list goes on and on, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Know that all that hard work did not go unnoticed, and I appreciate each and everyone of you.
I’ve found a home at Romance Divas, and am blessed to be surrounded by the most amazing men and women to grace the interwebs. Not only have they supported me in this endeavor, and my writing so far, but also in the ups and downs of everyday life. You all mean the world to me, so.. {{{hugs}}}.. except to those who get the willies from hugs.. then just an air ^5 for you.

Excerpt from Flickering Light
Flickering Light will make it’s debut appearance in a humongous anthology coming out August 5th, 2014. When I say humongous, I really mean it. Some of the wonderful people at www.romancedivas.com have gotten together to give a little back to the community. At last count, more than forty, that’s right FORTY, authors agreed to take part in this Charity Anthology, and I’m thrilled to be a part of it. The proceeds of the sales will go to Reach Out and Read. As authors, we all hold literacy close to our hearts, and hope you will stand with us and support this worthy cause.
Flickering Light is a short story written as a prequel to the first book in my Return to Avalore series, Call of the Dragon, due to be released in December of this year.
Set in a parallel world where dragons, gryphons and phoenix not only exist but are a part of the inhabitants themselves, Avalore is doomed to extinction. Only the return of their queen can restore their species and save them from death. Flickering Light is the story of two people on the brink of giving up. When hope is all but gone, will the love and passion they share be enough to keep a flickering light burning, not only for them, but all of Avalore?
Blurb:
More than two decades after Queen Angelique’s death, Barbara Morgan struggles to find the will to go on without the queen’s light. The darkness invading her soul threatens not only her, but all of Avalore. The dragon deep within her spirit has gone dormant, refusing to face the hopelessness plaguing their people. Desperate for a break from the endless misery, she turns to Clay, igniting the passion sizzling between them for one glorious night. When the Elders announce the reigning queen still lives, Barbara faces the biggest decision of her life. Turn her back on Clay to join with her predestined mate, or condemn their entire race to extinction.
Clayton Matthews has wanted Barbara for as long as he can remember. Each day she slips farther and farther from his grasp. Stubborn gryphon that he is, he refuses to let her go, so when she turns to him for comfort he can’t deny her. He doesn’t want to. Their one night of passion isn’t enough, and he wants so much more. He’d do anything to keep her safe, but can he step aside and watch the only woman he’s ever loved be joined with another man?
Clay took Barbara’s mouth with a savagery he couldn’t contain. He’d waited to hear those words from her for so long. The gryphon inside him clamored for release, demanding he possess her. She was safe in his home, in his arms, and he couldn’t get enough. He kissed down the column of her neck, and back again, nipping at her delicate jaw. He devoured her, and what’s more, he didn’t want to stop. He wanted to get lost in her passion, in her warmth. Needing more contact, he pulled the wrap from her shoulders and tossed it aside, not caring whether it landed on the nearby chair or the floor next to it.
The heat of her skin heated his palms through the thin fabric covering her back. What in Goddess’ name had she worn? Pulling back, he took in the sight of her. Long, fiery tresses fell to cover her chest, and he couldn’t help but sweep them over her shoulders to clear his view. A thin, white nightdress hugged the curves of her breasts and hips. The darker circle of her nipples, visible through the delicate fabric, puckered under his gaze. Closing his eyes, he took several deep breaths before looking at her once more. “I need to see you. Just this once, I’d like to feast my eyes upon your body.”
Her breasts rose and fell with her quick breaths, drawing his attention again. Though he had never seen the perfection of her body, he’d dreamt of it many times. He had wanted this woman for so long, and tonight, if she desired it, he would have her, all of her. She stepped back, putting a little more distance between them before taking the gown by the hem and lifting it free of her body. “Now you.”
The soft lilt of her voice added to the madness invading him as he saw his heart’s desire bared before him. He couldn’t think. His dreams didn’t come anywhere near the beauty before him. Her rosy nipples peaked and ready, begged for attention. He longed to taste them, draw the buds into his mouth and suckle until she writhed beneath him.
She closed the space between them, and when he still didn’t remove his clothes, she slid her hands up his chest. With a feral growl, she twisted her fingers between two buttons, gripped the edges tight and pulled, the soft plink of the buttons loud as they hit the floor. Her eyes widened, and she moistened her lips, her eyes never leaving his chest. The animalistic display had his heart racing and his beast struggling to get to hers, to draw it out of hiding. Too long had her dragon been silent.
If tonight was all they’d ever have, he wanted it all. He let her pull the shirt from his shoulders, dropping it to the floor at their feet before pulling her close again. Her full breasts pressed against his chest, and it was all he could do to keep from taking her right there in the front foyer. He brought his hands down her back to her bottom, drawing her against his hard length again.
She shimmied against him with a small moan. “Take the rest off,” she whispered before licking at the tender skin beneath his ear.
Clay took her mouth again in a wild mating of tongues, leaving them both breathless. He nipped at her lips, easing the sting with his tongue before plundering her mouth again and again. By the time he’d moved them from the entrance to his room, his clothes were gone, left scattered along the way.
“Are you certain this is what you want? Goddess help me, if it’s not, I will find a way to stop.” And he would. He didn’t know how, but he would not take what she wasn’t willing to give. His body shook with restraint as he brought her down to the bed, holding his weight on his elbows on either side of her.
“I’m certain.” She brought a finger up to his chest, then slid it down his abdomen and lower still. When she reached the soft springy curls at the base of his shaft, he closed his eyes and held his breath, yet he kept himself still. If she wanted to explore his body, he’d allow it. She could do anything she wanted as long as she stayed with him. The fear of losing her was still too fresh, his soul too raw, for her to be anywhere but in his arms.
“Now, Clay, please. I need you.” She wrapped her fingers around his rigid flesh.
The air rushed out of his lungs, ruffling her hair as she brought a leg up to circle his hips, urging him closer, guiding him where she wanted. His moan rumbled in his throat as he lowered himself, allowing his weight to press her deeper into the mattress. For a moment he couldn’t move, couldn’t breathe. Her energy slid against him like a warm tongue, lapping at his skin. Passion ignited her bright blue eyes, and he was powerless to deny her anything.

Blurb:
Rhia Atkinson is a woman on the run. The same vicious creatures that killed her mother four years ago are still on the hunt, and she’s the prey. She thought she’d come to terms with her solitary existence until Drake comes along, reigniting her dreams of family and belonging. His tall tales of a missing queen and the looming extinction of a race of people she never knew existed has her agreeing to go on a journey to Avalore. Traditions as old as time stand in her way as she tries to convince Drake that he’s her choice for a mate. With the enemy breathing down her neck, all she has to do is figure out a way to make it work before she ends up joined to some stranger, or worse, dead.
Drake Sperwell has spent years searching for one woman, the Queen of Avalore. Time is running out. With the survival of their entire species hanging in the balance, failure is not an option. When he finds her deep in battle in New York City, all his prayers are answered. What he didn’t count on was his reaction to the woman, or his dragon’s need to claim her as its mate. Denying their chemistry might just kill him, but she’s off limits. Her destiny lies with her true mate in Avalore.
Tilting her head back, she brought trembling fingers to his face. “It’s okay. You can let go. I’ll be fine.”
The dragon leapt, gaining power.
“Katie told me about your dragon. I’m not afraid of it—or you.” Her gaze held his. “I know you won’t hurt me.”
Fire raced up and down his spine. It was too much. Had she not given consent, he might have had a chance, but with each gentle word, his iron will slipped a little farther. She deserved more than he could give her when he was in this state, but he was powerless to stop. Lowering her to the bed, he brought his mouth down on hers in a hard, savage kiss.
The tearing of fabric sounded loud in the quiet room as he ripped her t-shirt wide open from the neck down. The delicate lace of her bra didn’t stand a chance. A quick twist and the material all but disintegrated, exposing her beautiful breasts. He swallowed her gasp, delving his tongue deep into her mouth, plundering what he needed before pulling back to look at her again.
Eyes shining bright, pupils dilated, she waited for his next move. Her tongue darted out to lick her lips, transforming his growl into a moan as blood rushed down low, making his cock throb, and strain hard against the restraint of his jeans. Heaven help him, he wasn’t going to be able to stop, but he’d be damned if he didn’t at least make it good for her. Lowering his head, he licked across one puckered nipple, then the other, before pulling back to watch them harden in the cool air.
Eyes closed, her back arched, pleading for more.
He took the tight bud between his lips in an open-mouthed kiss, making her gasp as he sucked it in. His tongue assaulted the tip, flicking over it until her hands bunched in his hair, pulling him closer still. He let go with a pop, ignoring her moaned protest, before turning his attention to the other, giving it the same treatment.
The scent of her arousal drove the dragon on. One sharp tug sent the snap of her jeans skittering across the room. The zipper offered no resistance, and within seconds, the jeans were down and off.
Kissing his way up from her ankles, he nipped at her tender flesh, making her squirm and release more of her intoxicating scent into the air. When he reached the apex of her thighs, he waited, watching as her back arched, and a soft moan escaped her open lips. Pressing his mouth and nose into the damp fabric of her underwear, he inhaled her scent. The beast within growled, sending the vibrations through his body and into her sensitive flesh.
“Oh God, Drake, that feels so good.”
The huskiness in her voice drove him to the brink of insanity. He couldn’t wait any longer to taste her. Ripping her panties in one quick move, he lowered his head and took a long slow lick, taking her juices onto his tongue, savoring her unique flavor before plunging deep.
Her hips thrust forward, bringing her closer as her head thrashed back and forth on his pillow. Her little whimpers sent throbbing heat down his spine and into his shaft as he speared in and out with his tongue, mimicking what he would soon do with his cock.
She was close, but she couldn’t come yet, he wouldn’t let her. Not until he buried himself deep inside her. The need to feel her convulse and tighten around him was more than he could bear. Gripping her hips, he turned her onto her stomach, lifting her into position. He cupped her ass, squeezing as he ground his hips against her.
He wanted to slow down, to make this beautiful for her, but there was no stopping the beast. He released her hips long enough to yank his jeans part way down his thighs before he gripped them again, his fingers pressing into her flesh. With one feral growl, he pushed forward, burying himself to the hilt in her moist, silken heat.

Rise of the Phoenix
Phew… what a busy couple of months it’s been. Some days I wasn’t sure I’d see the end, but I’m getting there, not that this is the end of the road by any means. I am only halfway through the series, after all, but I’m seeing progress and that makes my heart sing. For the past few weeks, I’ve been struggling with the storyline for book three in my Return to Avalore series, so I set that aside and concentrated on edits for book two, Rise of the Phoenix.
Now that I’m done all I can do for the time being, I have no choice but to get back to the yet unnamed book three. Thankfully, the time I spent away from it, made it clearer and I have a direction and yes, I’ll even admit, a loose plot line. After an intense month of staring at words, moving them around and deleting a bunch, I think I’m ready to put new words onto the page again.
So, I’ve shared my blurbs for Flickering Light, the short story that precedes Call of the Dragon, as well as the one for Call of the Dragon. So today, I thought I’d post the blurb for book two, Rise of the Phoenix.
I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am to launch this series in December and share my stories with everyone. I hope you all love them as much as I do. Stay tuned to learn more about the Romance Divas Charity Anthology (yes, the one Flickering Light will be a part of). I’ll have more information on the charity we’ll be helping, as well as release information to share soon.
Blurb:
Three years ago, on the cusp of falling prey to the darkness spreading within her, Brienne Roberts did the only she could think of to keep from succumbing to the encroaching madness—she requested the naming of her predestined mate. But when her mate, Evan Mayfield, had no desire to be joined, she took her broken heart, and ran. Before she knew it, she was living amongst creatures the Avalorian people had labelled as monsters. She never dreamed of going to the Dark Lands, much less live there in the midst of a pack of Erritrols, but that’s exactly where she was when fate finally caught up with her and brought her mate along with it. Giving up on her pack wasn’t an option, but walking away from Evan again just might kill her.
The Queen of Avalore—his sister—was back home where she belonged. The light of their people shone again, yet Evan Mayfield still couldn’t shake the restless energy dragging him down. If he could just find a way to make life safe for his sister and all of Avalore again, he could concentrate on finding his errant mate and bring her back as well. Problem was, she had no desire to be found. In fact, she’d run from Avalore and hidden so deep in the Dark Lands after finding out he was destined to be her mate that it had taken him three years to find her. Now all he had to do was figure out what she was doing living with the enemy. Could she really be the traitor it seemed?

Camp NaNoWriMo
I’ve just signed up for Camp NaNoWriMo. Yay!! For those of you who don’t know, Camp NaNoWriMo is a summer version of NaNoWriMo, which happens in November each year. What is NaNoWriMo, you ask? National Novel Writing Month is an intense, month long challenge that brings an author to the brink of insanity. The challenge is to write a novel (50K) in the span of a single month. It starts on July 1st and ends on the 31st. It is grueling, and intense, but so satisfying when you reach the 50K goal in such a short time frame. There are prizes to be won, and those are amazing, but it’s the sense of accomplishment that drives me to go through this craziness once more.
For this NaNoWriMo, I plan to finish book three in the Return to Avalore series. I’m calling it Releasing the Magic for now, but will most likely change it when I find something I like better. Spoiler alert, it is Aiken’s story, and let me tell you, it’s looking pretty sexy so far. I wish I could start a brand new story for this, but I have obligations to meet (okay, they’re self-imposed, but they’re obligations just the same). This book needs to be ready to go in December of this year, so I have to get it done, pronto.
Last November, I participated in NaNoWriMo and won! I squeaked by, getting the last words on the very last day, but I did it. That story has yet to see the light of day, but I’m still excited about it, and when my Return to Avalore series is complete, I fully intend to publish it. The working title for that story is Escaping the Vury, and is an erotic, sci-fi, futuristic, post-apocalyptic novel. lol Okay, that’s a mouthful, but it is what it is.
Wish me luck, and if you feel like cheering from the sidelines, that would be great too.

Welcome To My Blog
Welcome to my blog. Yeah, I never thought I’d say that. I mean, I do welcome you, and I’m thrilled to have you here, I really am. I’m just a bit of a fish out of water with the whole blogging thing, so please, bear with me.
I started reading, really reading, when I was in my early teens. I remember many nights laying in my bed with a book in hand long after my mom had gone to bed (dad was usually on the couch reading the latest Stephen King novel or other such horror genre books). I wouldn’t put my book down until I’d hear the stirrings of my dad getting ready for bed, which all too often was into the wee hours of the morning. Now that I’m all grown, I can admit that even then, if the book I was reading was particularly good, I’d wait until dad was asleep before turning my light on and finishing it before settling in for a sleep myself. Let me tell you, reading until 5:00am on a school night wasn’t the best of ideas, but I did it anyway. How could I not? It was a good book after all.
I grew up in a small town in northeastern Ontario, Canada, with two siblings and more pets than you can imagine, as well as two loving parents who stood by one another through thick and thin until the very end. It’s no wonder I grew up reading and am now writing romance. It’s also no surprise, given all the gruesome reading material at my disposal as a kid, that my writing follows some darker plotlines than most romance novels follow, but fear not, at the root of it all, it is romance… hot and spicy romance.
The first book of my Return to Avalore series is Call of the Dragon. It’s a paranormal romance with plenty of action to keep you reading long past your bedtime. I hope you enjoy it.
I’d love for you to come back, so please add me to your favorites, and join my newsletter to see what else I’ve got brewing and get little extras I’ll be putting in there as well.
