New Year's Eve
I've decided that I'm not going to try and finish anymore books in time for the deadline, because though I'm close (hard not to be when one of them is a graphic novel) 75 is such a nice, whole number.

Great...
I was forty pages away from finishing a book and now it's gone missing. I can't find it anywhere but I know it must be in the house as I was reading it in the bath. Unless I somehow dropped it and it dissolved without me noticing...

Pride Month
It's Pride Month and as a member of the LGBTQA+ community I will be attending. I also wanted to finish up 'and the band played on' as it seemed appropriate to connect with my community's history, despite the rather harrowing contents.
Then, as you know, Orlando happened.
There are details of the attack, my community's reaction and dues to the dead, but this isn't the right platform for it.
So I'm just thinking about books. I couldn't continue reading 'and the band played on', not right now. But I'm certainly not going to stop reading. And I'm certainly not going to stop reading about my community. I will just look for something less tragic right now. I've already been recommended some excellent non-fiction books, and now hope to search out and find some fictional ones too. Hopefully with happy endings.

Fickle
I'm currently reading eleven books at the same time, some of them which I put down so long ago I will probably have to start them all over again, and what do I do? I pick up the next couple of unread books in my pile and read their opening pages longingly, wishing I could read *them* instead. I have serious book commitment issues.
I also may have underestimated myself when it came to my reading challenge.

When you look up books on goodreads...
and find out that one of your formative childhood books was actually a sequel (which explains a lot, really) and has a sequel itself. Suddenly all your childhood wishes are coming true!

New challenge.
I've been looking at my goodread shelves and realised that it tilts wayyy too heavily towards fantasy and horror. Not that I don't love these genres but they shouldn't be the only ones I read.
So for the rest of the challenge, not including the books I've already started, I'm going to aim for non-fantasy books to try and expand my shelves.

The thing about goodreads...
That moment where you don't want add to your 'currently reading' list because that would mean admitting just how many books you started reading until your complete lack of self control made you start a different one.
