Rubén Chapela was born in Girona (Catalonia), where he studied Biological Sciences. He completed his dissertation with placements in France and Wales. He completed a M.Sc. in Marine Biology and obtained his teaching qualification back in Girona. His career path has always been divided between sciences and teaching, as well as a passion for languages. He is currently employed by a university in Wales, collaborating in projects aiming to increase the profile of modern foreign languages in Wales as well as its uptake in schools and universities. His artistic creations include published books and research work, short films, work for TV and several awards and nominations.

Rubén Chapela va néixer a la ciutat de Girona, mateix indret on va cursar la llicenciatura de Biologia, complementada amb estades a França i Gal·les. Més tard obtindria les titulacions de Biologia Marina i mestre a l'estranger. Les tres grans passions que han guiat la seva trajectòria professional han sigut les ciències i la docència, a més de l'interès per les llengües. En el present es dedica a l'ensenyament a una universitat gal·lesa, a més de col·laborar en projectes de promoció lingüística. Les seves creacions artístiques inclouen llibres i projectes d'investigació publicats, pel·lícules curtes, treballs per la televisió i diversos premis i nominacions.

Rubén Chapela nació en la ciudad de Girona, donde cursó los estudios de Biología con estancias en Francia y Gales. Más tarde obtendría las titulaciones de Biología Marina y maestro en el extranjero. Las dos grandes pasiones que han guiado su trayectoria profesional han sido las ciencias y la docencia, complementadas por su interés en las lenguas. En el presente se dedica a la docencia en una universidad galesa y colabora en proyectos de promoción lingüística. Sus creaciones artísticas incluyen libros y proyectos de investigación publicados, películas cortas, trabajos para la televisión y diversos premios y nominaciones.
