반면에 "On the other hand" | Live Class Abridged

There are only three more live Korean classes remaining before the summer break (I always take a break during my trips to Korea). The most recent class I did was all about the grammar form 반면(에), which means "on the other hand." The full class was over an hour and a half long, but you can watch the summary here which is under 7 minutes.

How to Pronounce 의 | Korean FAQ

의 can be tricky to pronounce for beginners - not only because it's the sounds 으 and 이 combined into one, but also because it can be pronounced three different ways. 의 can be pronounced as 의, 에, and 이, depending on how it's being used and where it is in a word. In this video I break down how to pronounce 의, when to pronounce 의 each of these different ways, and some tips for remembering.

And the award for FASTEST Korean speaker goes to… | BTS Analyzed

This is the fourth episode in my new BTS series where I analyze the member's Korean speaking, and this video is all about.... Actually, I won't spoil it for you. See if you can guess who it's about just by looking at the thumbnail.

There are only three episodes left in this series, and the next episode will be Jimin which I'll post after two weeks from today.

What group should I analyze next after BTS?

그래서 vs 그러니까 Which Means “AND?” | Korean FAQ

그래서 and 그러니까 are two different ways to say "and" when starting a sentence, or when connecting two sentences - or when used on their own. But while they both mean "and," they have unique uses and can't be exchanged for one another in most cases.

In this video I'll explain how to use 그래서 and 그러니까, what they mean, where they come from, and how they're different.

~단다/~란다 "It Is Said" | Live Class Abridged

Most Sundays I have a live stream where we learn about a new Korean topic, and this recent Sunday's class was all about the forms ~단다/~란다 and ~답니다/~랍니다. These forms are abbreviated quoting forms (much like ~대요 and ~래요), but also have an extra common usage.

The full live stream was an hour and a half, but this abridged version is just under 9 minutes total.

Top 15 YouTube Channels for Korean Learners

A LOT has changed since the last time I made a list of other YouTube channels for learning Korean (that was back in early 2020). So I wanted to make an update for 2023, and this time there are more channels to choose from. I made a list of my top 15 channels that you should check out for learning Korean.

Let me know if I missed anyone!

Why is Suga's Korean so IMPOSSIBLE to UNDERSTAND? | BTS Analyzed

For a quick moment I'd uploaded 정국's video early today. If you were one of the 1,000 lucky people who watched it early, you got to see it in advance of its early May upload (yes I posted it early by mistake).

Because today's video is all about Suga and how his Korean can sometimes be almost impossible to understand (jokingly). In this video I give my full analysis of how Suga speaks Korean, what dialect he uses, and what makes his speech unique.

The next member will be J-Hope, and his video will be posted two weeks from today.

든(지) Regardless | Live Class Abridged

Did you miss my class on Sunday? We talked about the grammar form ~든지, and the class lasted over an hour. But if you don't have time for the full class (still up on my channel) then you can watch this Abridged version here.

The whole lesson is summarized in just under 10 minutes, although in the live class we also made sentences together.

How Men and Women Speak Korean Differently | Korean FAQ

This is a large topic, and one I've been asked about for years.

There are so many differences, and so many styles of speaking, that putting everyone's speaking into the two categories of "male" and "female" is a bit of a challenge. So in this video I do my best to summarize some of their differences, as well as the general feeling each of these differences can give to a listener.

AI vs Teacher: Can ChatGPT Teach Korean Better?

ChatGPT is the new popular toy, and what can't it do? Well it seems teaching Korean might still be a bit far away, but let's check its strong points and its weaknesses. I put ChatGPT to the test to see how well (or poorly?) it can teach Korean.

Since ChatGPT is constantly being updated, I might have to remake this video in a few years. For now, I wouldn't recommend using it for learning, but it's interesting if you're already at a high enough level to recognize where it makes mistakes.
