She touches my cheek and I close my eyes reveling in her touch. It’s both incredible and terrifying. For years I’ve discouraged women from touching me or even talking to me, other than my infrequent hookups with Marley.
“I don’t want to live in the past anymore, Rod.” Her gaze lands on my lips.
With my own heart beating double time, I cup her cheek while keeping my gaze on her to gauge her reaction. I lower my mouth to hers. I stop when we’re no more than a breath’s width apart. “Say you want this, Jenni.”
She shudders and nods. “Please, Rod. Kiss me.”
