Unless we awaken

Unless we awaken

from our personal and collective dreams,

we will continue to live in a state of

unconsciousness on the surface

of a life of infinite potential.

Method to the Madness

February 2016

When I began my mystical quest, I read every spiritual book I could get my hands on. I read everything from the deep philosophical works of the Hindu Upanishads to the popular New Age best sellers. I didn’t limit myself to just one religion. I devoured everything. Over time, I began to notice many similarities in the symbols presented in the myths and parables. For example, I noticed that the symbol of the serpent was a fundamental part of many religious traditions. However, in one religion the serpent was a loving and benevolent character. While in another religion, the serpent was the Devil. I became very confused! There had to be a method to the madness!

So, I categorized each belief system. I separated them by the way the common symbols were interpreted. As I began to track the patterns of belief, it became clear that the ancients were trying to explain the basic structure of the cosmos. It looked very much like physics or chemistry presented in story form. The various myths and parables described a dynamic interaction between two cosmic forces that were disguised as deities. The most surprising part was that the ancients considered balance to be the key to a well-lived life. Neither force was considered bad until the overall balance of the world was affected and it overwhelmed the opposite force. This lead to creating practices and rituals that would activate the opposite force and bring the cosmos back into balance.

I found that the ancient cultures had a tendency to believe in a supreme God and his wife, the supreme Goddess. The supreme God, commonly referred to as God the Father or Father Sky, ruled the heavens. The power that emanated down from Father Sky was symbolized as: bread that falls from heaven; rain; lighting; or Grace. The power of Father Sky was universally described as being the color white or iridescent. The supreme Goddess, on the other hand, was most commonly referred to as Mother Earth and ruled the environment. The power that rose up from Mother Earth was symbolized as: wine; blood; serpent; fire; lava; or Kundalini. The power of Mother Earth was associated with the color red or black.

My discoveries endorsed the findings of today’s scholars who acknowledge that belief evolves through the ages. What was believed in an earlier time was not discarded. The main points were kept, while the minor points were tweaked to fit that society’s current scientific knowledge and social beliefs. For the most part, modern religion has stopped believing in the marriage between Father Sky and Mother Earth. However, the two divine energies that these deities represented in the ancient times live today in the Taoist Yin and Yang, the Hindu Shiva and Shakti, and the Christian Bread and Wine.

Why so Many Religions?

January 2016

There is nothing more exciting to me than digging into the architecture of spirituality. Spiritual philosophy goes past the stories and past the symbols to the energies of inner transformation. I was not brought up in a religious home. So, when I was first exposed to religion as an adult, I had a lot of catching up to do. When the priest told everyone to open their Bibles to John 1:1-3, I asked, “What page is that on?” Like many who begin the mystical journey, my first question was “If there is only one God, then why are there so many religions?” I held this question in the back of my mind for many years. As I wandered through the belief systems of the world, this question remained unanswered.

Several years later, I was digging through the lock box. Amongst the birth certificates, passports and property deeds were the silver coins I had bought during the year each child was born. My first child was born in 1986, which was the 100th anniversary of The Statue of Liberty. Handling the coin gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling for the time when my son had just come into the world. The pressure of time made me reel my mind back to the subject at hand. So, I grabbed the document I needed and shut the lock box.

But, for some reason my mind became fixated on The Statue of Liberty. For the next few weeks, I kept seeing emblems, ads, and pictures of the statue itself in a synchronistic fashion. I knew that the universe was guiding me, but to what? By this time, I was deep into exploring mystical philosophy. The Statue of Liberty is not mystical, or was it? It was then that I realized that all mystical philosophy used symbolism to convey its message. The Statue of Liberty is an iconic symbol of the United States. So, I took out my books and started to analyze the statue just as I would analyze a spiritual symbol.

I was amazed to find that The Statue of Liberty is actually a convergence of many symbols. She incorporates a torch, a book, and a 13 point arrayed crown. She stands on a star and has an elevator that lifts you up to a windowed viewing deck in her forehead. The Statue of Liberty resonates with each person because she embodies a multiple number of ideologies instead of designating one exclusive truth.

She contains many ideals but is only one statue. She is a singularity and a multiplicity rolled together. We are able to appreciate the diversity she represents because we can see the whole. When we can view spirituality in its wholeness, then we will comprehend why there is such diversity in the ways of veneration and worship.

Science is confirming one of Jesus’ sayings

Brain science has come a long way in recent times, but is it really discovering something new? The old science of left-brain and right-brain mentalities has been thrown out the window. Scientists are now using functional MRI to watch how the brain processes information. They have found that the brain does not “light up” on just the left or right side. What the scientists found was that the brain follows a particular circuit when it processes information. (Yes! You mind does run in circles!)

The scientists have mapped three different brain circuits. They are:

The Executive Attention Network: it governs focus and linear thinking.
The Imagination Network: it governs creativity, empathy, and running mental simulations.
The Internal Salience Network: it governs inner awareness and outer movements.

We each have a favorite circuit or favorite way to process information. Intellectual personalities generally use the Executive Attention Network. They can “see” into the depths of the logic through their ability to focus. Creative-Emotional personality types feel the vibrations of the environment, or “hear.” When there is a balance between the two first two networks, the inner awareness of the Internal Salience network opens.

Many have wondered what Jesus meant when he said, “Those who see, see! Those who hear, hear!” It seems that Jesus was aware of the two different ways people come to mystical realization. So once again, science is just verifying the knowledge that the ancient masters already knew.

Mixing the Mystical Paths causes Psychological Damage

It is not hard to imagine why religion has always been an instigator of war when you realize that mixing the spiritual practices from different religions can cause real psychological harm. The Kundalini overload experience is now being documented by science. When experience of mystical practices feels more like torture than bliss, who wouldn’t want to kill someone for causing such pain?

I have spent 15 years researching the major religions to find out why those who seek a deep personal relationship with the divine often suffer physically and psychologically. My research revealed that most cultures have two completely different methods of spiritual transformation buried within their scriptures. They are:

The Hero’s Journey or Warrior’s Path, which uses Kundalini to kill the ego.

The Grail Path or Virgin’s Path, which uses the Light or Grace to grow the spirit and give birth to the divine child.

It seems that psychological breakdown takes place when the spiritual path you follow does not harmonize with the make-up of your inner being. The key to selecting a beneficial spiritual path is personality type.

The Hero’s Journey is for the intellectual types.

The Grail Path is for the creative and emotional types.

The ancient system of inner transformation developed specifically to help creative and emotional people spans many cultures and has many names. This spiritual path is celebrated for its ability to bring hope, peace, and clarity to the creative and emotional person. Buddhist’s know it as The Flower Sermon. Taoist’s call it The Secret of the Golden Flower. Christian’s identify with the legends of The Holy Grail. The Holy Grail is not an object. It is a system of mystical transformation, or a spiritual path, used by mystics. A mystic is a person who has direct personal contact with the divine energies. After spending time following the advise of the ancient scriptures, I discovered that the platter, the cup, and all the other portrayals of the Holy Grail are actually levels of spiritual attainment.

Once we understand that there is a yin and yang to spiritual development, the spiritual practices of every society will be honored for the knowledge they contain. When both paths are understood and honored, everyone will have the opportunity to reach their highest human potential.

Killing the Ego is not for Everyone

Enlightenment has been a male dominated achievement for over 2000 years. The advent of One God commanded that there be only one spiritual path. The process of individuation or enlightenment, along this spiritual path, required the killing of the ego. This tenant still holds true today.

Ego consists of narrow thought patterns that lead to condemnation and judgment of anything that does not fit within its constricted parameters. Love and caring then becomes a weapon for getting others to conform to your way of thinking. So, killing the ego would widen the viewpoint and allow compassion to manifest within the soul. Practices and doctrines of this spiritual path use methods to intensify feeling and instill compassion.

Creative and emotional people, however, do not think; they feel. When the practices that intensify feeling are followed, the emotional system of the creative person becomes overwhelmed causing stress, anxiety, and depression. Extended periods of stress can lead to health issues and can even cause insanity. In the forth and fifth century, church leaders like Augustine of Hippo and Jerome considered women to be morally and spiritually inferior to men. Those who had creative and emotionally based personalities were then denied pastoral rights and relegated to the fringes of the spiritual society.

The sad fact is that there is a spiritual path designed specifically for creative and emotional people. It is found in almost every culture of the world. This path brings peace to the emotions and clarity to the mind. The Taoists have outlined this path in The Secrets of the Golden Flower. Buddha revealed this path with his Flower Sermon. The tales of The Holy Grail detail the levels of attainment for this spiritual path.

The goal of enlightenment is to balance the heart and the mind. If you have mind then practices that open the heart are the best path for you. If you have heart, then the practices that strengthen the mind are what are needed.

The Grail Path – Coming Soon!

Coming Soon!
The First of our Mystical Transformation Series

If you are a creative-emotional personality type
or are a spiritual professional that guides creative-emotionals
then this book is for you.

The Grail PathI do believe that I am the only person who is jealous of the Biblical character Job. Job suffered the complete breakdown of his inner world only once. To date, I have experienced this phenomena three times. In every case, the person who opened my base chakra was well meaning. They truly believed that what they were doing would benefit my spiritual development. However, what occurred was complete psychological devastation, which brought about an all-embracing despair that took much effort on my part to keep from committing suicide. Every spiritual attainment that I had worked months and years to achieve was stripped from my soul.

My research revealed that my physical and psychological setbacks were minor compared to what others have suffered. I was fortunate to regain my mental faculties on all three occasions. I have heard stories of people who went in for a simple energy balancing and were reverted all the way back to infanthood. They could not remember how to walk, talk, or control their bowels. They were literally born again and had to rebuild their whole lives from a blank slate. Some never recovered any memories prior to initiation. Some, like the famous philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, never recovered from the psychological incapacitation. Nietzsche spent the last 10 years of his life in a semi-vegetative state after declaring that God was dead. I have also seen people who have become clinically insane all because the wrong energy was transmitted into their spiritual system.

It is for this reason that I have written this book. NO ONE should have to go through physical agony and gamble the possibility of irreversible psychological harm to achieve inner transformation. The process of spiritual transformation is a natural consequence of a life well lived. Catastrophic psychological events are completely unnecessary when there is a full understanding of the Two Divine Energies and how they operate.

The Good News is:

If you have experienced these types of spiritual problems or caused an energy imbalance in a client or spiritual student, then the devastation can be reversed. Spiritual practices and rituals are designed to invoke and enhance one of two Divine Energies. By changing the practices and rituals you can change the energy that runs through through the spiritual system. I know this because I have done it. The first time took me 10 years. The second time took me 5 years. The third time took only 8 weeks to recover and rebalance my energies. You can do it for yourself or as a spiritual professional you can help those who have had such experiences reverse the damage and reach their highest spiritual potential.

This Book is NOT for Everyone.

The practices and processes that I have described are meant for creative and emotional personality types. The old science defined these people as being right-brained. The newest scientific data has defined these people as having brains that run on the Imagination Circuit. Basically, these people operate from the heart and intuition. They are natural givers, they can feel the emotions of others, and they can intuit creative solutions.

The Grail Path will show you:

The four basic personalities that are encompassed within the creative-emotional personality category.
Which Divine Energy is the fuel for this inner transformation.
Which practices increase the transformative energy
The natural progression of inner transformation for a creative-emotional personality
The historical background and the spiritual traditions that still use these methods today
How to translate the inner meanings of parable, myth, and fairytales
It will open your eyes to the reasons why the ego-killing based spiritual transformation system is detrimental to the physical, psychological, and spiritual health of creative-emotional personalities.
