Day 25: Renae interviews Paul & Andrew

Safe in His Heart will be released on the 2nd of May, 2016.   In an attempt to get to know Paul and Andrew, I thought that they could take the 30-Day Writing Challenge.  Let’s see their answers.  I will be posting their responses on the blog daily, so scroll back if you missed some.

Preorder is available.  Click here to go to the Coming Soon page to check it out.

25.  Four weird traits that you have
Paul:  Only four?  Andrew is going to struggle.  Okay, my four – a mixture of genetic traits and learned.
One:  I have a super-fast blood flow which makes me a favourite donor with Red Cross Blood Bank.
Two:  I have nursing spidey-senses.  Sometimes I can just tell that a patient isn’t doing well.
Three:  My gaydar is remarkably fine tuned and accurate.
Four:  I like to put beetroot on my battered fish.
Andrew:  You’re weird.  I mean, beetroot and fish?  Every time you do it I gag.
Paul:  Your kids like it too.
Andrew:  God help us all.  Okay.  Four traits?
One:  I can’t roll my tongue, but I can wiggle my ears.  I’ve heard it’s genetic.
Two:  I’m great at poker because I can read other players.  It helps me in the boardroom.
Three:  I have a weird ability to tell the time without looking at my watch.
Four:  I can’t use blue toothpaste.  It’s just… I can’t do it.
Paul:  And you call me weird.

Day 24:  Renae interviews Paul & Andrew

Picture Safe in His Heart will be released on the 2nd of May, 2016.   In an attempt to get to know Paul and Andrew, I thought that they could take the 30-Day Writing Challenge.  Let’s see their answers.  I will be posting their responses on the blog daily, so scroll back if you missed some.

24.  Something you miss
Paul:  I’m going to answer for Andrew, because he’d never admit it, even though he misses it the most.
Andrew:  What?
Paul:  You miss being perceived as straight.
Andrew:  **shrugs**  Maybe.
Paul:  **snorts**  I’m right, and I know it.  You miss going to work and everyone thinking that you’re exactly what you look like.  Because now they know, you see their sly looks.  You see innuendoes in things that once didn’t bother you.  You feel the need to fight for everything that is yours, because you think they’re going to take it away from you now that they know you’re one of those “dreaded homosexual people.”
Andrew:  In a way.  But I was always fighting.  That inner fight is what makes me successful.  It’s just that I have more to fight for now.  More to lose.  It will make me more successful.  You’ll see.
Paul:  Maybe.  So tell me, what do you think I miss the most?
Andrew:  Hmm.  I think you miss your late-teens the most.
Paul:  What?  No way.  That was a dreadful time, trying to work out who I was and what I wanted to be.
Andrew:  Which is part of it.  That part of your life was all about you.  You’ve matured now and you see the bigger picture.  The bigger world.  You’ve seen death.  You’ve seen miracles.  You’ve seen heartbreak, and you no longer have only you to think about.  I think you miss being innocent.
Paul:

Day 23:  Renae interviews Paul & Andrew

23.  A family member you dislike
Paul:  Easy.  My sister, Nadia.
Andrew:  You’re lying again.  You two squabble at every opportunity, but you don’t dislike her.
Paul:  Okay.  Let me think about it then.  Nope.  Still dislike her.
Andrew:  **rolls his eyes** Tell me, then.  If a man laid his unwanted hand on Nadia, what would you do?
Paul:  I’d murder him three different ways, chop him up into sixty-four bits and hide the body parts all over Perth.
Andrew:  See.  That proves you don’t dislike her.  Because the family member I would choose is my cousin, Seth.  He’s a bigot, a bully and homophobic to the boot.  And I wouldn’t lift a finger to stop someone who wanted to lay a hand on him to teach him a lesson about those weaker than him.

Day 22: Renae interviews Paul & Andrew

Safe in His Heart will be released on the 2nd of May, 2016.   In an attempt to get to know Paul and Andrew, I thought that they could take the 30-Day Writing Challenge.  Let’s see their answers.  I will be posting their responses on the blog daily, so scroll back if you missed some.

22.  Your morning routine
Paul:  Well, first I stretch my legs out.  Then I grope, usually with my right hand, to check out the state of my hard on and then I—
Andrew:  You’re lying.
Paul:  Yeah, okay.  Just because “Waking to my alarm, dashing out of bed and getting ready for work” isn’t interesting or pretty.
Andrew:  I find you both interesting and pretty.
Paul:  Yeah?  So tell us what’s your morning routine.  Is it any different from “Waking to my alarm, dashing out of bed and getting ready for work”?
Andrew:  Yes.  I wake to my alarm, think to myself “Shit- is it morning already?” then I dash out of bed and get ready for work.

Day 21: Renae interviews Paul & Andrew

Safe in His Heart will be released on the 2nd of May, 2016.   In an attempt to get to know Paul and Andrew, I thought that they could take the 30-Day Writing Challenge.  Let’s see their answers.  I will be posting their responses on the blog daily, so scroll back if you missed some.

21.  Your zodiac/horoscope and whether you think it fits you
Andrew:  Taurus.  They are supposed to be bull-headed and hard workers.  I’ll take that.  What are you doing, Paul?
Paul:  Looking up Taurus.  Ha.  Shit.  It fits you perfect.  Listen.  “They are deliberate thinkers and when making decisions usually make the right one. Taurus are generally adaptable, adjusting easily to new circumstances especially if there is the reward of luxury, comfort, or sensual reward. This sign loves to laugh and spend time with family. Downsides, Taurus can be stubborn and ‘bullish’ about ideas that they’ve adopted. Taurus needs to be the leader and to be held in high esteem.” Yep.  That’s you all over.
Andrew:  Who said I need to be the leader?
Paul:  You may want to revisit your answer on Day 15.
Andrew:  Oh.   Yeah.  Okay then, smartie.  What are you?
Paul:  I’m Aquarius.  But this stuff is just bullshit.
Andrew:  Yeah?  Okay – read out Aquarius for me and let’s see.
Paul:  Fine.  “Aquarians are among the friendliest of the signs, making friends everywhere. They are often chosen among co-workers and family for special awards and honours because of their ability to network. Highly intelligent they are energetic and talented, often using their abilities to help others.  Downsides. If this sign does not have alone time and time to do much desired reflection, they become dour, emotionless, and even are prone to depressive interludes. They can become highly resentful if they believe that their voice is not being truly heard or valued.”
Andrew:  I believe I may pay more attention to this star sign stuff in the future.
Paul:  Are you saying I’m dour and depressive?
Andrew:
Paul:   Shut up.  That was just one day because I couldn’t fit my work out in, and I—  Oh.

20.  Put your music player on shuffle and write the first 3 songs that play and what your initial thought is
Andrew:
Paul:  Let me guess.  You don’t have music on your phone?
Andrew:  My phone is a tool for work, not a frivolous toy.  The radio is just fine if I need music.
Paul:  **sigh**  Fine.  No wonder you don’t know what One Direction is.  Okay.  My turn.  **fiddles with his phone**  Right.
One:  Khe Sanh, Cold Chisel.  Classic.  Everyone knows it, but no one knows the words.
Two:  Oh, shit.  Nivana, Smells like Teen Spirit. Brings back memories of high school but yeah, that’s a great workout song.  Nothing like pumping to this one.
Three:  Huh.  Happy, by Pharrell.  Yeah.  I use this one a lot.  Sometimes you have a really bad shift, and you feel like the whole world sucks.  No one can feel sad listening to this number.

Day 19: Renae interviews Paul & Andrew

Picture Safe in His Heart will be released on the 2nd of May, 2016.   In an attempt to get to know Paul and Andrew, I thought that they could take the 30-Day Writing Challenge.  Let’s see their answers.  I will be posting their responses on the blog daily, so scroll back if you missed some.

19.  Five fears you have
Andrew:  My kids being seriously hurt or injured.  Losing my kids.  Being unable to be able to provide for my family and keep them safe.  Losing Paul.  Sharks.
Paul:  Sharks?  Really?  Huh.  Okay my turn, and remember that I’m a nurse so my fears revolve around things I’ve seen.
One:  Any shoddy sex toy, or item used incorrectly as a sex toy, that has a section that can “fall off” while it is being used.
Two:  Infection.  Shit that stuff is evil.
Three:  My sister carrying through with her threat to ask my boyfriend for a sperm donation.
Four:  To feel nothing. Compassion, empathy, love – these are all emotions I feel daily and what get me through the day.  Sometimes they hurt, but when they do, I know I’m caring about others.  I’m scared of the day I will not feel anything.
Five:  Being alone.

18.  Your favourite colour and why
Paul:  Aubergine.  Because saying that word makes me sound intelligent, and people who are not, have trouble spelling the word.  I also like to start arguments over what colour is aubergine.  Because we all have different ideas.
Andrew:  That’s your answer?  Do you take anything seriously?
Paul:  Not really.  Why?  What’s your favourite colour?
Andrew:  Ice blue.
Paul:  Ice blue?  Who’s being pedantic now?  Why is your favourite colour ice blue?
Andrew:  There’s this guy I like, and his eyes are ice blue… and when I see that colour, I think of him.
Paul:  Oh.  That’s okay then.

Paul:  Try to unto others as you wish them to do unto you.  In all other occasions, run like mad.

Andrew:  Success is no accident.

Day 16:  Renae interviews Paul and Andrew

Safe in His Heart will be released on the 2nd of May, 2016.   In an attempt to get to know Paul and Andrew, I thought that they could take the 30-Day Writing Challenge.  Let’s see their answers.  I will be posting their responses on the blog daily, so scroll back if you missed some.

16.  Bullet your entire day
Paul:  Seriously?  Who is writing these questions and how much time do they have in their day?
My days change constantly.  I work as a nurse and we have a rotating shift, so sometimes I’m in during the day, sometimes at night, sometimes the evening.  I get to sleep when I can, and squeeze in gym when I can.  But basically my day is:
·         Wake up.  Deal with whatever shit I need to.
·         Go to work.  Deal with whatever shit I need to.  Literally.
·         Go home or gym.  Shower.  Shit.  Remember?
·         If gym, work out then go home.
·         Deal with whatever shit I need to.  Bed.
Andrew:  I guess if Paul’s day is constantly changing, mine is pretty set.  As CEO I have to be in the office for most of the time.  My PA takes care of appointments and spot fires, leaving me to work on the hard stuff.  As I’ve said on previous questions, my children are the most important thing to me.  So they are my focus, then work.  I will admit that sometimes I let the team down on this, but I just need a strong man to stand up to me and remind me of my priorities.  My day is:
·         Wake up.  Get the people in the house ready to go to the place that they need to.
·         Drive to day care / school / work.
·         Work furiously for the next nine hours.
·         Drive back and pick up kids from after-school care.
·         Home and everything that entails.
·         After the kids go to bed, I’ll manage another 3-4 hours work.
