Christ's Masterpiece

"For we are God’s masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10

Today you are not the masterpiece of some artist; you are the masterpiece of God. The Greek word that is translated as "masterpiece" is the word "poiema". It can be translated as a beautiful poem. You are a poetic statement of the glory of God. That is what your life should be, a poetic statement of the glory of God. Think of it this way, God wants to use this beautiful poem to speak love to someone that doesn't know him. Your poetic statement is someone else love poem from God.

In all of history, in all the span of time, God decided that this little slice; this twenty years, or eighty-two years, or ninety-one years, whatever you have on earth, God decided that in this moment in history, you would serve Him best. There was no better time for you to be born with your gifts, your talents, your skills, your personality, or your make-up. This was the best time in history for you to serve the Master and bring glory to Him.

Here's the problem, many people don't look at their life and see it as a poetic statement to someone else that can bring glory to God. Right now, as you look at your life you may think, "I don't feel like a masterpiece. After all I've done, I feel like I'm not good enough." Let me just say, it does not matter what you feel like, you are made new because of Christ. You are the masterpiece of God, created in Christ Jesus to do good works. That good work is for your to draw others to God through your poetic lifestyle.

However you may read this and think, “I want to believe it and I want to live it. I want to know the purpose for which I was created and I want to live according to the Master's purpose. I want my life to count and to give Him glory." If these are your thoughts, would you pray the following prayer?

PRAYER: God, help me overcome every insecurity this world has beat into me and help me to recognize that in Christ, I am a new creation with a new purpose. I am your masterpiece, created to bring glory to you. May I believe this truth. I pray that I would find comfort in the fact that, even though I may be going through something’s right now, I know that you're a Sovereign God and you're working in all things to bring about good. God, I am loved by you and I am called according to your purposes. God, I pray that I would step into your purpose, and have confidence that you have begun a good work in me, and you oh God, will carry it out to completion.

Christ's Ambassador

"We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us.” 2 Corinthians 5:20

Today you need know that you are an Ambassador sent by God from heaven to earth. God is making His appeal through you, to bring others to know Jesus Christ.

Webster’s dictionary defines an ambassador as the highest-ranking diplomat sent as a representative from one country to another. For example, if you became the Ambassador of the United States to Egypt, Egypt would not be your home. You would simply be the highest-ranking diplomat sent to Egypt to represent the United States. If you are a follower of Christ, you must realize that God has sent you from heaven to earth as his highest-ranking diplomat. You are here to represent the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords and God wants to make an appeal through you.

What is that appeal? To take that which is broken (people separated from God by their sin) and to help them know Christ, so that they can be made right with God. God desires to make an appeal through you!

Understand that you are God's chosen instrument to a certain group of people. Who? Whomever is in your sphere of influence. Who might that be? It could be the people at your workplace. It could be the people in your family. It could be the people on your kid’s football team. If you are good at repairing cars, and you are driving down the road, and there is a person with a car broken down, be God's chosen instrument for that time and help them fix the car in the name of Jesus Christ.

God desires to make his appeal through you to a lost and dying world. It does not matter what any person thinks, you are chosen and appointed by God.

When you believe that, it will change the way you do life and it can change another life too.

I hope the Holy Spirit makes this short entry very significant for you. My hope is for you is that you will know who you are so that you will know what to do. You are an Ambassador and that's a calling to take that which is broken and to help others know Christ, so that they can be made right with God.

I want to challenge you to think about the people that you know that do not know God. They could be people in your family, the people at your work, the people you see in the gym, the people you bump into at the cleaners or when you are getting your coffee. They could be your friends on Facebook. I want you to think about them and list their names on a piece of paper. Begin to ask God to use you to help them to know Christ.

Let's get the conversation going. Comment on some ways that God has used you to help others know Christ or leave some suggestions of practical ways others can help people know Christ.
