Lost Cause is Now Out!!
Jake Ramsey #4 is finally out! And I’m done with a rebrand and refresh of the entire Jake Ramsey series:

Also, here is what I sent out on my newsletter earlier today:
It is with great pleasure that I announce that Lost Cause, Jake Ramsey #4, is finally out! It has taken longer than I anticipated to get this one out because I tied it with a rebrand and refresh of the entire Jake Ramsey series.
But it’s finally done, and you can find it here.
I loved writing this novel and hope that you will enjoy reading it as well.
A few quick updates on other projects:
Next up is The Fixer with the never-before-seen character Kirk Hoffman. That book is nearing the end of the copyediting process and I should have it out in the next few months. Also, The Last Mile audiobook, narrated by Eric G. Dove, is almost done and should be out within the next few weeks.I’m working right now on Jason Maxfield #4.And I’ve begun work on Mitch Turner #6. I’m about 20-30% done with the first draft. That’s it for now! I hope everyone is having a great summer.

Jake is searching for Cherry Mann, who disappeared right after he survived an assassination attempt. Cherry hasn’t been seen in months, and rumors swirl around her disappearance. Jake is convinced she’s been abducted and is even more certain after he’s attacked by armed men.
TERRORISTS STRIKE THE HEART OF THE CITY.The pressure builds after the attack, and Jake assumes he’ll take the blame. But it’s far worse than that. He fights back, taking escalating risks to meet the rising danger. It soon becomes obvious that more is at stake than just one missing person.
CAN JAKE PUT THE PIECES TOGETHER?Events outpace Jake and things aren’t what they seem. There are few, if any, that he can trust. Can Jake find Cherry and uncover the conspiracy behind her disappearance before everything comes crashing down around him? If you enjoy riveting thrill rides with constant twists and turns, this book is for you.

The way Kris was hedging told me I could get away with what I was doing.
I soon faced her with my pistol at my side, finger on the trigger guard.
She wore a thick winter coat. She looked much the same as the last time we’d met in person. It was difficult to think of her as my enemy, even after everything she’d done.
I couldn’t understand why this was.
Logically, I knew I couldn’t trust her. I couldn’t believe a word she said, but a part of me still wanted to.
Wasn’t I just reminding myself to have no mercy?
“There’s no need to stick a gun in my face,” I said. “I didn’t come here to hurt you.”
“Why do you have a gun then?” Kris said.
“You’re the one pointing a pistol at me. I put mine down the moment I knew it was you, even though I’m sure I could’ve at least taken you with me if I’d wanted to.” I showed some emotion in my voice and on my face, hoping she bought it.
The helicopter had stopped.
It appeared to be hovering on the opposite side of the structure from us, probably twenty to thirty feet back from the building by the sound of it. I wondered if Kris had signaled them to wait until the situation was resolved. Or if they’d noticed she had a gun on somebody and didn’t want to come closer.
“You’re as stubborn as ever,” Kris muttered.
“Some say it’s my most endearing quality.”
“Who?”
“Where’s Cherry Mann?” I demanded.

Announcing the title of my next new legal thriller! And updates on Jason Maxfield #4 and Mitch Turner #6.
It’s hard to believe that we’re already at the halfway point of this year. I’ve been hard at work and have a couple of novel releases on the way. You all know that Jake Ramsey #4 – Lost Cause is coming soon, but I haven’t yet revealed the title of my brand new legal thriller.
So it is with great pleasure that I announce the title: The Fixer.
This novel features criminal defense attorney Kirk Hoffman, who is unlike other defense attorneys. He and his team only take on clients if he knows they’re innocent. Until one day, somebody from his past comes knocking, and he’s unable to tell them no, even though they are generally unsympathetic and, if Hoffman’s team of professionals is right in their early stage analysis, guilty as sin.
I’ll be revealing the cover and more about the story as we get closer to its release!
Also, work is moving along nicely on Jason Maxfield #4.
AND I’ve also begun work on Mitch Turner #6.
This one is going places you won’t expect! More on that to come in the next few months, so stay tuned!

The Kirk Hoffman Legal Thriller is on the homestretch, I can’t wait for it to be done!
It’s been a crazy couple of months, but things should start evening out soon just in time for summer to wreck all my writing plans!
The next legal thriller!I’ve been head down working on the Kirk Hoffman Legal Thriller and I think you’re going to love it as much as I do! I can’t wait to get it out into the real world.
Jake Ramsey and Jason Maxfield:Lost Cause, Jake Ramsey #4, is finally in the final homestretch of its long torturous publishing journey! (It feels like I’ve been saying that for a while now and finally mean it!) That will be out in a month or two!
I’m about 60,000 words into the first draft of Jake Ramsey #4, and it’s shaping out to be a very exciting book.
Something fun about The Good Client:Also, The Good Client passed 8,000 reviews on Amazon!
That’s an awesome milestone.
Thank you so much for reading! I owe it all to you.

SALE ON GOOD CLIENT TODAY ONLY AND UPDATES!
It’s been a little while since my last writing update!
I’ve been heads down working on the new legal thriller and it’s coming along very well. I also had to fight off a bout of some sort of NASTY sickness. I don’t know if it was COVID or the flu or what, but thankfully that’s behind me and I think I’m now in a better place than I was before. I had multiple days where I couldn’t focus enough to work on the novel. Luckily, I had other things to do.
GOOD CLIENT EBOOK SALE TODAY ONLY ON AMAZON.COM!Amazon is running the sale so I believe it just lasts the day.
The Next Legal ThrillerSo, I have some more news on the next new legal thriller.
I’m not yet ready to reveal the title, mainly because I haven’t found one yet, but I can talk about the main character.
This is a first person novel and the protagonist’s name is Kirk Hoffman.
Just in case you missed it, here is what I’ve previously said about this book: In this story the main character has assembled a team of professionals with the goal of helping the wrongly accused. He’s made a fortune and doesn’t have to worry about the day to day worries of running a law office, freeing him up for more important things.
I peg this at about 85% of the way done!
Just a few weeks more and the copyediting process will spin up.
I think you’re going to love this novel. It’s been a lot of fun to write and it’s a little different from some of my other legal thrillers.
Jake Ramsey Novel Lost Cause UpdateI’m putting the final finishing touches now on rebranding the Jake Ramsey series, and that should be finally making its way into the world.
More to come on that very very soon! (I know! This had been a VERY long time in coming.)
Jason Maxfield #4 UpdateMy work on Jason Maxfield number four continues and is going well! I would say that I’m approximately 30% of the way through the first draft.
It will be my main focus after I am done with the Kirk Hoffman legal thriller.
Now, I’m heading back to work…

WRITING UPDATE: Everthing is moving forward.
What’s that old saying? Be afraid of standing still not moving slow? While I wouldn’t say things are going slow, I always seem to want them to go faster! I have so many more projects than I have time for.
So I remind myself that writing a novel takes time and I keep working .
The current legal thriller project:I’m about 42% of the way done with my next legal thriller!
In this story the main character has assembled a team of professionals with the goal of helping the wrongly accused. He’s made a fortune and doesn’t have to worry about the day to day worries of running a law office, freeing him up for more important things.

WRITING UPDATE: Loving the next legal thriller, Lost Cause, and starting work on Jason Maxfield #4.
I’m about 37% of the way done with my next legal thriller!
It’s an exciting story about a defense lawyer who became independently wealthy and is now more focused on the cases he wants to take instead of taking anything that just walks in through the door.
Until the day his past comes back to haunt him…
Update on Lost Cause, Jake Ramsey #4!Lost Cause is moving toward the finish line. The rebranding of the Jake Ramsey series is making substantial progress. As part of the rebranding, I’m doing a round of edits on Black Brick, Dark Spectrum, and Blood Games.
I should have more on that in the next few months.
In the meantime, the first three chapters of Lost Cause are up on Patreon. All Patrons subscribed at the $1/month level and up will have access to that and the other Work in Progress posts that I’ve put up!
Patrons on Patreon can also read samples of the current legal thriller that I’m working on.
Jason Maxfield #4 has begun!!My work on Jason Maxfield #4 has begun!
I’ve already drafted the first several chapters and I’m pleased with how it’s coming. When I am further along in the process, I’ll be posting WIP posts on Patreon but that is still a ways out. Even though I am writing full chapters, this is my outlining process and much of it will look very different by the time I’m done.
Oh, I can tell you that Jason will be returning to Chicago.
AND the picture above make me think of an opening scene in the novel.
Have a great week!
