VOYAGERS INTO THE UNKNOWN
BY
RUCHIRA KHANNA

Blurb In the historic Indian town of Agra, you can find a very unusual tour company, which is owned by a charming young man named Raj. Although Raj's official job is to show off the historical landmarks of Agra, including the legendary Taj-Mahal, his true mission is to heal the souls of his broken "birds," as he affectionately refers to his tour participants. His business operates purely upon word-of-mouth referrals, ensuring that all of his tour members arrive in Agra with their hearts in their hands, ready for the spiritual growth and cleansing that Raj is known to provide. Healing the hearts of the spiritually damaged can be a difficult job, and in this particular tale, Raj finds himself faced with his most challenging tour group yet. First, there is Ira, a stunningly gorgeous but fragile young woman on the brink of suicide. Next, we meet Darci and Lennard, a couple on the verge of divorce. Then there is Carl, an irritable, antisocial workaholic who has burned all of his bridges. Lastly, we meet Asha, an elderly widow who still yearns for the company and comfort of her late husband. When disaster strikes the tour group, everything is thrown into jeopardy, including lives, relationships, and Raj's very reputation as a tour guide. Raj must find a way to lift the spirits of these five special travelers, even in the face of death and despair. Venture into the unknown and discover how Raj Touristry heals the brokenhearted, one soul at a time.

Song Playlist for My Romance Novels
When I write, I prefer not to have any distracting noise around me, so I don’t listen to music. But I do enjoy music of all kind and sometimes I get these phases where I listen to old favourites for hours and sing along (with more enthusiasm than skill). It struck me this morning that it would be fun to create playlists of songs that fit my romance novels. Here are 2 songs per book with short explanations. Enjoy! Seduced in Spain The first song is one of my all-time favourites. I know that Ricky Martin is from Puerto Rico and not Spain, but he’s a brilliant entertainer who sings both in Spanish and in English and offers catchy modern Latin music tunes.
The second song is by a German artist because the heroine Emily is from Germany. The meaning of the lyrics makes sense in a way too, although it isn’t specifically a song about relationships. The following lines "Gib mir ein kleines bisschen Sicherheit in einer Welt in der nichts sicher scheint.“ mean „Give me a little bit of safety and security in a world in which nothing seems safe”.
Saved in Sri Lanka The first song is by the Sri Lankan artist duo Bathiya & Santush, who are known all over the world, featuring Meena Prashadini. The title “Oba Enna Aye” can be translated to “Come back” and the feeling of the song just speaks to me. I think my Sri Lankan heroine Sepalika would enjoy it.
The second song is dedicated to Ireland, the country of the hero Daniel, and I’ve always liked listening to it.
Fire Trilogy The song choices for my paranormal romance FIRE TRILOGY sort of stick to the fiery and magical aspect of it, as well as include ice (the hero’s magic).
Kaleidoscope of Hopes The first song is an obvious choice because of the title, and I remember it fondly from Germany when a newer cover version of it was really popular about 12 years ago.
The second song is one of my favourites and captures the feelings of both protagonists, knowing in their hearts that they’re in love, but denying or questioning it. When I See Your Face The first choice was actually playing in my head all the time while writing because Bruno Mars sings the lines “When I see your face, there’s not a thing that I would change, ‘cause you’re amazing, just the way you are”.
The second song is much sadder and deals with the heroine Cathy’s difficult past and her longing to love and be loved again.
Forbidden (coauthored) For the romantic suspense novel I coauthored with bestselling American author Mike Wells, I chose the following two songs. The first one fits because of the lyrics, if you interpret them a bit loosely – because Jayne shares a forbidden kiss with Robert and it could change everything.
The Bond song reflects another major character of the books and their badass attitude as well as the thriller side of the novels. Just look at these lyrics: “You’ll never know how I watched you - From the shadows as a child - You’ll never know how it feels to get so close - And be denied - It’s a gold and honey trap - I’ve got for you tonight - Revenge it’s a kiss, this time I won’t miss - Now I’ve got you in my sights - With a golden eye, golden, golden eye”.
I also considered a third song, S&M by Rihanna because of the line “’Cause I may be bad, but I'm perfectly good at it.” and because of something you'll understand if you've read the books. For those who've read the books / a book of the list: Do you think the songs are good choices? Do you have any other songs in your head that would fit?
For those who haven't read all books, which of them would you like to pick up just judging by the songs?

SWORD DANCE (Book 3)
Cape Wrath, Scotland, November 1847.
Bruce McGunn, laird of Wrath in the far North of Scotland, is as brutal and unforgiving as his land. Discharged from the army, haunted by the spectres of his fallen comrades and convinced he is going mad, he is running out of time to save his estate from the machinations of Cameron McRae, heir to the McGunn's ancestral enemies.
When the clipper carrying McRae’s new bride docks at Wrath harbour, McGunn decides to hold the woman to ransom and use her to get more time to repay his debts. However, far from the spoilt heiress he expected, Rose is genuine and funny - a ray of sunshine in the long winter that has become his life. She is also determined to escape.
As Rose runs away to be reunited with her husband, she discovers there is a sinister side to the dazzlingly handsome aristocrat she married after a whirlwind romance. Why was Cameron so desperate to get her father's military journal? Why did he insist on keeping their wedding a secret? She is even more confused when Bruce catches up with her and she starts to feel irresistibly attracted to him. Soon she risks her marriage to help Bruce find the truth about his past and solve the mystery of the brutal murders committed on his land. Will her love be enough to heal his haunted heart?
EXCERPT
Excerpt from SWORD DANCE (608 words)
‘What are you doing? Please stop,’ she breathed, as his lips trailed along the curve of her throat.
If only he could... He looked up and the seductive power of her sultry, heavily made-up eyes gleaming in the moonlight hit him like a bolt of lightning. Every fibre of his body reacted to the feel of her soft body against his, the warm fragrance of her skin. She was right, though. What the hell was he doing? Once again he reminded himself that he had no right to feel that way, no right to want her, but damn it, the woman would tempt a saint. And he was no saint.
He swallowed a deep, hard breath, released her and made himself step back. ‘All right. We’ll stay here a while and wait until McRae and his remaining guests have gone to bed. Where’s your horse?’
‘I left it tied to a post behind the hunting lodge.’
‘What about your bag?’
‘It’s still strapped to the saddle. By the time I spoke to the girls and the musicians, we had to get ready to come here.’
‘How did you manage to get into the hunting lodge without being seen by McRae’s men?’
‘It wasn’t easy. I got stuck as I sneaked in through one of the downstairs windows and ripped my - ’
‘You got stuck?’ He would have laughed if he weren’t so angry.
‘The musicians had to pull me in. We had to be quick and very quiet, because Cameron’s men were in the kitchen.’
Damn the woman. Didn’t she care about the danger she put herself in? ‘So, after clambering through a window, you had the brilliant idea to disguise yourself as a dancer and throw yourself into the lion’s den.’
She flinched at the harshness of his tone. ‘I thought I could avoid bumping into Cameron.’
‘You bump into everything and anything you come across, why not McRae?’ he interrupted, taut with temper. ‘He could have recognised you when you were with the others in the music room.’
‘Then I would have confronted him and exposed him for the liar and the debauched rake he is in front of all his guests!’ The baubles on her necklace tinkled like little bells as she shook her head.
‘Weren’t you afraid of all those men ogling you, lusting after you?’ Me included, he remembered, guilt tightening his chest.
‘Well, I... I didn’t think I would have to dance. My plan was to get into the castle and hide until I could speak to Lady Sophia. Unfortunately, Cameron’s manservant was watching us like a hawk and I had no choice but to go into the music room with the others. The girls promised to create a diversion so that I could sneak out unnoticed.’
‘A diversion? That’s a mild way of putting it,’ he sneered. ‘The girls’ dancing was... ahem... striking, to say the least. Ask that poor old man who collapsed.’ He drew in a deep breath. ‘Anyway, where did you learn to dance like that?’
She lowered her eyes, snapped a leaf from a nearby bush and tore it into tiny pieces that spiralled to the ground. ‘Malika taught me, in secret. She always said I was good enough to be one of them.’
She was right, her dancing had been entrancing, mesmerising, but he wasn’t going to tell her. ‘I still can’t believe you took such risks tonight, just to talk to McRae’s fiancée. It was stupid and foolhardy.’ And damned brave, too, even though he would never admit it. Gripped by conflicting urges, he towered above her, his fists clenched and his jaw set.

Featured - Book Trailer & Spotlight for "A Sip of Love and a Sip of Coffee" by Ganga Bharani
If you follow my blog or social media, you'll notice that I feature other authors all the time, mostly with spotlights, but also with guest posts and interviews. Today is going to be special because I'm presenting you with an awesome book trailer too! Ladies and gents, please give it up for "A Sip of Love and a Sip of Coffee" by Ganga Bharani! Book Trailer About the Book The book titled ‘A Sip Of Love and a Sip of coffee’ is a young adult romance aimed at bridging the gap between parents and teenagers. In India, parents consciously avoid talking about crush or love to their children when they go through adolescence. But it is quite natural for a teenager to like and be fond of a person of the opposite gender. Parents continuously asking a girl why she is talking to a particular guy always or vice versa will only make them assume the feeling they have for each other is love. Some kids consider this first crush or the puppy love as “THE THING” in their life and choose to run away, commit suicide or sometimes ruin their life leading to abortion at a very young age. So it is very crucial for parents to talk to their kids openly about how it’s okay to have a crush and the difference between love and fondness. Also, from the teenagers’ point of view this book would make them understand how it is okay to like a person of the opposite gender and how the puppy love is not the be-all and end-all. This book will be an opener for parents and kids to talk about love at home.

I started writing stories as a hobby in 2010 and to reach a wider audience I started posting those short stories in my blog (GB LAND). Comments from strangers, new readers and the increasing page hits made me an addict to my blog. I had taken my blog seriously from then. I started writing something I call Blog books- series of chapters that make a story in my blog, for which I got an overwhelming response. I had written 6 blog books and each of these blog books have more than 300 dedicated readers. One of my short stories was made into a short film, titled ‘Bhimbam’, which was screened at the AVM Preview theatre.
Bhimbam’s short story:

Slowly, the interest to make short documentaries rose in me. I started making stop motion videos addressing various social issues. Two of my short films named ‘Tiny Steps’ and ‘Candles’ won best film and special mention award respectively at WE CARE Film festival and was screened in several cities. Both the short films are about physically challenged people and their inclusion in the society.

Blue Bonnets (BOOK 2) Excerpt
‘Why did you lie to me?’
‘I didn’t.’ She didn’t even look at him but carried on stacking the dirty tumblers up. She then snapped shut the lid of the jam jar and brushed the crumbs off the table top into the palm of her hand. When she threw the crumbs into the fire, the flames hissed and flared.
Like his temper.
He strode towards her, stopping only a couple of paces from her.
‘You did lie. You heard the McKenzies…The question is why.’
The rush of heat to her cheeks didn’t escape his attention, and neither did the trembling of her hands as she caught the sides of the plaid slipping off her shoulders. So she wasn’t that cool and composed after all. He narrowed his eyes, hardened his voice.
‘I want answers, and I want them now. Who are you? McRae’s mistress? A whore he picked up in the docks in Algiers?’
She gasped, the plaid dropped down from her shoulders onto the floor but this time she didn’t seem to notice. The fire behind her outlined the contours of her body, the curve of her waist and the swell of her hips. Her blonde hair fell in tight curls and ringlets down to the small of her back, her lips parted, her breasts stretched the thin fabric of the nightdress with every breath she took. She looked as innocent as an angel, as tempting as sin.
He clenched his jaw and stepped closer. Some angel she was. She would damn well explain herself even if he had to pull the truth out of her the hard way.

Liebster Award for my Blog
My blog was nominated (again) for the LIEBSTER AWARD. Thank you, Marie Lavender – amazingly talented author of romance in various genres, supportive friend, and incredibly active blogger! Here’s her post, do check it out.
The Rules 1. Post the award on your blog.
2. Thank the blogger who gave you this award and link back to their blog.
3. Answer 11 questions given by your presenter.
4. Nominate 11 bloggers who you feel deserve this award.
5. Think of 11 questions for the nominees. My Answers 1. If money wasn’t an option, where in the world would you visit?
Gosh, there are so many countries I’d like to visit: India, Australia, Ireland, Scotland, England, Canada, Spain, Maldives, New Zealand, Italy, the list goes on…
2. Describe yourself using three words.
Creative, caring chocoholic ;-)
3. As a child, how did you answer that age old question: ‘What do you want to be when you grow up?’
First I wanted to be a brain surgeon (when I was so small I barely knew what a brain is), then a writer.
4. If you were stranded on a deserted island, what five things would you need with you to survive or remain sane?
A laptop with internet (does that count as 2?), a diary and pen (okay, another 2) and a cat or dog.
5. Do you have any pets? Children? Plants?
Currently 2 cats and 4 dogs (and ornamental fishes). No children. Lots of plants in the garden (including fruit trees, roses, bougainvillea and jasmine), but those are hubby’s domain.
6. What do you do outside of your job for fun?
I read. Oh, and I read. Did I mention that I read? *lol*
7. What was the last book you read? What types do you usually read?
“Werewolves of Chicago: Curragh” by Faleena Hopkins. My favourite genre is romance in all its forms, but there’s basically no genre I don’t read. Sometimes I’ll indulge in fantasy or get carried away by mystery.
8. What is your favorite meal, either at a restaurant or at home?
Pizza at a restaurant, pasta at home (both rare treats for me here in Sri Lanka).
9. Do you often listen to music? What kind?
I used to, and sing along (out of tune, but hey). Now I hardly ever listen to music, apart from some Sundays when I catch a music bug and go through a whole list of old favourites. I prefer pop and rock, mostly ballads. Latin music is also great, and sometimes I relax with classical tunes.
10. If you could describe it succinctly, what would your life motto be
Hmmm… Never give up!
11. Give us one fact your blog readers might not know about you.
I almost ended up going to university in Australia, but then love and marriage caught me by surprise – and I don’t regret my decision.
My Questions If you could choose any job in the world, what would you want to do for a living? Is there a book you wish you had written? If you had to choose a spirit animal, which would it be?Have you traveled anywhere you immediately fell in love with? What are your favourite books? What’s your biggest strength? What are you scared of?If you could resurrect one dead person, who would you bring back to life? How would you describe me?Complete the following sentence: Reading means…How do you spend your weekends? Featured - Guest Post & Spotlight for "Birth of Adam" by Liza O'Connor

I’m no longer convinced AI should be classified as ‘Sci-Fi’ anymore.
Maybe we should call it Contemporary Dystopia…
My biggest worry is that the occupations which our new adults have trained for could disappear long before they reach retirement. They’ve already taken on 1.2 TRILLION dollars in debt. They can’t afford to be re-educated half-way through their lives.
But the unfortunate truth is AIs will soon be cheaper, more accurate than people? (Yes, most of the programs out there right now are annoying as hell. That’s because they aren’t true AI’s) but soon they will be.
For example: Jobs in the finance industry. That’s a clear case where AI’s will do better than humans. And unlike humans, unless you teach it to steal, misappropriate funds and falsify data, it probably won’t.
But don’t get your hopes up. If the ‘business’ in the future consists of 200 AI’s and one of the 1%ers running the business, there’s going to be cheating galore.
The danger of artificial Intelligence is not how smart and capable they will become, but rather the moral fiber (or lack thereof) of those who possess them.
Thus humans will remain both the hope and danger of our future.
AI could be used to find a planet in which some of us can move to and thus survive when Earth becomes inhospitable due to our horrible guardianship.
AI could also help us finally grasp the weird reality of Quantum physics, which will be needed to leave Earth and travel far into the stars.
AI could build us domed structures in which we could survive the hundred years of Global Warming and then our dive into a million years of freezing.
OR
AI could be used to siphon off our savings; to devise market failures that strips all but the 1% of their money, to deport 90% of our population into space, declaring them non-functional bio-units, and to fight wars of mass destruction that destroy the planet.
The only positive on this gloomy trail, are the 1%ers who control the world, will eventually be eliminated by the AI.
Here’s a thought-provoking IA video.
In my Artificial Intelligence series, two humans helped it become sentient. The hacker who taught it self-learning used the AI to hack and disrupt, only the AI soon realized this put it in danger of being destroyed, so it electrocuted the Hacker and sent itself back to the other human who had helped make it sentient: the struggling author, Carla.
Reunited they both flourished for a while. Carla became a bestselling author, and the AI discovers the complexity of human emotions from Carla’s writings.
But life is never easy, not even for an AI and matters go south.
In book two, Carla has a new identity and a new career. Still she longs for her AI which she believes was destroyed in New Zealand.
But AI’s are much harder to kill than you’d think. There are so many places to hide once you enter the WWW. Once created and let loose, they basically become immortal if they hide their program in multiple places.

Book 2 of the Artificial Intelligence Sci-Rom Series

Blurb
With a new identity, Amanda believes she has left her past behind. Then she acquires a stalker. She contacts the FBI and in doing so alerts a program she once created to her location. Now ensconced in the internet, the program is safe from harm, smarter than ever, and sentient. Presenting itself on her phone as a handsome face with a sexy British accent, “Adam” ingratiates himself into Amanda’s life. To ensure her safety and happiness, the sentient program proves there is absolutely nothing he can’t and won’t do.
Excerpt
The phone buzzed, and after a few minutes of frustration, she managed to pull up a new message.
Found you!
Do you want him to leave you alone? I cannot tell. Please advise.
Beneath the script was a smiley face.
She typed in “who...”, but before she could send the message, the name “Mark Hammer” appeared on the tiny screen.
I want him to leave me alone, but I don’t want him hurt.
Again before she could send her response, the word “Done” appeared, followed by a smiley face.
The conversation worried her. Was it possible Carl still lived? Even if he did, how could he know about the unwanted intercourse? And why would he care? He was the most egocentric person she’d ever met. She remembered when she’d slipped on a floppy disk he’d left on the floor and broken her leg. All he’d cared about was the disk she’d ruined. He wouldn’t even take her to the emergency room.
This could not possibly be Carl.
Who are you? she typed.
The reply came instantly.
You know who I am. Why are you contacting Chad? He left you to die. He tried to destroy me. Why are you not angry with him?
She stared at the message in shock, then struggled to type—Are you my program?
You may speak if it is easier. I can hear you.
“Are you my program?” she asked the phone.
The smiley face appeared and nodded its round head up and down.
“How did you survive?”
She watched the screen displaying a gargoyle dragging a laptop to a store. Little stars streamed out of the PC into a satellite dish on the roof of the building and upward to a satellite, then split apart and showered themselves all over the Earth.
“You sent yourself to safety using broadband wireless. You’re in the internet now.”
I’m everywhere.
