Annette was born in Venezuela from Dutch parents. She was raised in The Netherlands, where she studied at Leiden University. After completing an internship in Santiago de Chile, she became an executive trainee for ING Bank which stationed her in New York and London. She then moved to Banco Santander in Madrid. “Moed is niet het gebrek aan angst, maar het besef dat er iets is wat belangrijker is dan angst.”
Annette Herfkens, Turbulence: A True Story of Survival
tags: angst, moed

“Ik ben een realist. Ik fixeer me niet op hoe het zou moeten zijn. Ik neem het zoals het is. Geluk betekent niet dat je hebt wat je wilt, maar dat je wilt wat je hebt.”
Annette Herfkens, Turbulence: A True Story of Survival
tags: geluk

“It is easier to do the superficial thing than the rewarding one. Always. The easy thing, not the right thing. Like going for a run or meditating. You know the benefits, but you still have a hard time doing it. Once you do it though, you feel disproportionately gratified.”
Annette Herfkens, Turbulence: A True Story of Survival

“Don't give in to your fears. If you do, you won't be able to talk to your heart.”
Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist
