One Good Thing Every Day: June 2, 2013
“Do not be like the Pharisees who multiplied regulations, creating their own form of ‘godliness.’ They got so wrapped up in their own rules that they lost sight of Me. Even today, man-made rules about how to live the Christian life enslave many people. Their focus is on their performance, rather than on Me.” from Sarah Young’s Jesus Calling: Enjoying Peace in his Presence

“Spending time with Me is a wise investment.” from Sarah Young’s Jesus Calling: Enjoying Peace in His Presence

In the Wild Stillness
Whenever I see a Goldfinch, I remember watching them visit my grandparents’ birdfeeder while I ate pancakes.
Barn Swallows, occupying the boat lift canopy over our fishing boat, express annoyance at my husband’s early morning outings.
I first heard about Dickcissels, or Dickey-birds, while reading Little House on the Prairie. Laura Ingalls Wilder describes chasing them in the Kansas prairie with her sister, Mary.

In the Wild Stillness

I have seen a Baltimore Oriole couple two days in a row. Beautiful!

A large Pileated Woodpecker flew by as I walked along a river path. His signature cackle resounded through the white pine riddled with evidence of percussive pecking.

A couple much like this one swam through our Mississippi River bay as my husband and I watched from shore.
