Saturday morning

Doesn't matter what day of the week it is, there's nothing quite like the morning of my first in a series of days away from the day job, so I can get some quality time with my laptop. Lying late in bed has lost absolutely all of its appeal and I now love nothing more than getting up early, making a cup of coffee and parking myself in my favourite spot in the house - my writing room - with hours and hours and hours of day ahead of me. Today, I intend to get to the end of the penultimate - or possibly ante-penultimate, depending on how quickly my leading lady gets to the bottom of things - chapter of my next book. I do have a pesky hair appointment at 2 o'clock, that's likely to drag on for a couple of hours, but these things must be endured. But apart from that, and a pesky cinema trip later to show off my new hair, I will be writing, writing, writing. Have a great weekend everyone! xx

Wednesday evening

Sitting on the sofa in the kitchen, in the dark. The only light in the room is my laptop screen. I'm hungry and fairly uncomfortable, and the cats need feeding. But I don't want to move. Why? Because it's publication day tomorrow, and I'm addicted to reading the first reviews that are starting to come in.

I know, I know, don't say it. I shouldn't pay any attention to reviews. You can't please everyone, and while reading a positive one is uplifting, re-affirming and grin-inducing, a negative one can make you want to give up writing and go back to tending sheep. Not that I've ever tended a sheep, but I could start. I'd be willing to give it a try, anyway. If I had to.

But so far... The reviews have been so positive, I'm positively glowing. Which is just as well, as it saves me from getting up to put the light on. Now, if I could just figure out a way to get the cats fed, I could stay here all night...

See you all soon.

Friday evening

Well that was a week. Fairly productive but could have been more so. My protagonist has discovered some things, but others are yet to be found. She's sometimes irritatingly slow at this and has spent a large portion of this week wallowing and feeling a bit sorry for herself. Not surprising really, in the circumstances... Her failure to move on at this stage is also largely due to her spending so much time improving the conversations she's already had, and behaving much more interestingly. So where she is now is much the same as where she was at the start of the week, only this time she can look back on the week with pride.
Anyway, it's time to get her really moving now. She's not going to know what's hit her...
Chat soon,
Beth xxx

Sunday morning

Good morning Goodreaders! First day off for me after 5am starts this past week and guess what? I've woken up early. I don't have to be up today. I can sleep in my bed until whatever time I choose. But my body senses the first weak ray of sun leaking over the horizon and says, "Come on waster, get up and do something." Yesterday, when I had to get up at 5, nothing would shift it. Why is that?

Anyway, I like being up early. And once I've had three cups of coffee, four headache tablets, a bacon roll and a snooze, I'm raring to go.

It's a writing day today. I'm very excited about that. My protagonist has got a lot to find out today, poor little thing, so I hope she's awake too.
