Author Update:
I might have told you all this last week, but AWAKE is currently in editing. The novel is with a new editor that I hired because I have so many projects going on at the moment I needed more help.
I still have Kathryn, and she has Childhood’s End. She sent Hostage back last week. I’ve worked through all of her notes and have been rereading the story this week. I think Leaving Liberty should be back from most of my betas by next week. If it is, I’ll start sending out Hostage. I’m aiming for an end of April release on it.
I finished the first draft of Nowhere to Go, another Shore Haven short story over the weekend and started the second draft this week. I think this one is going to be the longest so far and the most heartbreaking, though, Childhood’s End was hard to write as well.
That’s it with the horror/zombie pieces. I have started working on Fated, but I’m having a tough go of it. I think it’s going to take me a week or two to switch from zombies to shapeshifters. I think my goal to have the first draft finished by the end of April is still doable, but we’ll see. I want to start the next Shore Haven short story soon, so I don’t know how I’ll juggle both. It might be May before Fated is finished. I’m not rushing because Shore Haven and AWAKE need my attention more at the moment.
On to the personal stuff. This week has been good. I’ve talked to my oldest nephew a great deal today. He’s in college, which makes me feel old, and it also means we don’t talk much. I spent the day with a cousin whom I’ve set eyes on in nearly a year due to my caregiving duties. We are actually eleven years apart, but I’m closer to her than pretty much anyone else in my family. Tomorrow, I’ll see my mom, which always makes me happy. I got to bother both my husband and his best friend while they were working, which was awesome. I don’t go up their job at all really, and they work different shifts, so most of their co-workers don’t know that I know Tae, my husband’s best friend, so when I walked straight up to him in the warehouse with my hands on my hips and said, “When I send you a message. You had better reply,” the entire place got quiet. They thought some Jerry Springer shit was about to go down. I think our laughter freaked them out even more. Fun times.
Well, I guess that’s it for now. I’m going to crash or try to. When I go to bed, Midnight curls at my feet, Lilith spreads out on my back, and the human radiator wants to cuddle. Sleeping doesn’t always come easily, but at least the three of them are adorable. Night everyone. Author Update: I’m finished with my last draft of AWAKE. I’ll be sending it to editing this weekend sometime. I’m a chapter or two away from finishing another Shore Haven short story. I don’t have a title for it yet. Hostage is back from editing, but I’m not going to give it my full attention until Leaving Liberty goes on sale at the end of the month. I’m getting great feedback from betas, so the March 29 release date still holds. I’m not doing a major release party with this as it’s going to be FREE short story. I might do a giveaway that week, though, so keep a look out. Since Hostage is back, I’ll be sending her Childhood’s End. I’m on a roll…I think. J J I’m hoping to start giving Fated a bit more attention starting next week. I’d like to have the first draft finished by the end of April. My big, possibly life changing news fell through. I’m bummed, but that’s life I guess. To further kick us in the teeth we now have another water leak. I’m trying to stay positive, you guys, I really am, but our bad luck streak is starting to get ridiculous. Enough of the pity party. I’m good. We’re all healthy and we have each other. Things could be a lot worse. (Famous last words. LOL!)
