Flattering words
"When you hear 'crime novel', you think you know what to expect. When you hear love story, you might believe you know the outcome. Yet, in Jan-Philipp Sendker's astonishing new novel, set against the seamy backdrop of modern day china, he melds the two to create something so original, thrilling and moving about the things we want, and what we are prepared to do to get them. A murder story was never so ravishing."

I just received this wonderful blurb from Ms. Leavitt a few days ago. I thank her so much for the kind words and hope that readers in the US will share her opinion.

New video released
For the US release of "Whispering Shadows", Simon & Schuster has just published a short film with me in Hong Kong, providing info about the book and a hint of the special atmosphere the story is set in. I like it very much, enjoy!

Starting off at Goodreads
I am exploring the possibilities of this fantastic community right now and am immensely looking forward to interactions with readers and book-lovers in general.
At the moment I am simultaneously working on finalising the movie script for "The Art of Hearing Heartbeats" and on the first chapters of a new book, the third installment of my China trilogy, of which the first part will come out in the US this spring. I am thrilled to find out how Julia, Tin Win and Mi Mi will lastly appear on the big screen, and of course how Paul and Christine are doing in Hong Kong.
I will keep you posted and am very open to questions or comments. All the best
